Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton to co-host new ABC series 'The Celebrity Dating Game'

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Sami Drasin(LOS ANGELES) — Michael Bolton knows that “Love Is a Wonderful Thing,” so maybe that’s why ABC has tapped him to host a new show that’s all about romance.

The crooner will co-host The Celebrity Dating Game alongside New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel.  Like the original Dating Game from back in the day, each contestant will choose their date from a hidden panel of three bachelors or bachelorettes, based on their responses to the contestant’s questions.

However, this time around, the contestant choosing a date is a celebrity. The bachelorettes and bachelors will have the opportunity to guess the star’s secret identity based on clues, questions and “special parody performances” courtesy of Michael.

The eight-episode show is being filmed in L.A.; a premiere date will be announced at a later time.

Eric Church shares how co-writer Casey Beathard channeled personal tragedy to do his best work on “Hell of a View”

No Comments Country Music News

Reid LongEric Church has previously spoken about the unconventional recording process behind Heart & Soul, his upcoming triple album, which led him and his team to embark on a month-long writing and recording retreat in a makeshift studio in the North Carolina mountains.

During a performance at UMG’s annual luncheon and showcase at the virtual Country Radio Seminar, Eric performed his current single, “Hell of a View,” and shared a story about how a personal tragedy in the lives of one of his co-writers impacted the writing process. Eric co-wrote the song with frequent collaboators Monty Criswell and Casey Beathard. But the singer admits that he wasn’t sure Casey would even be able to join them on their album-making trip, because the songwriter had recently lost his 22-year-old son, Clayton, who was one of two people killed in a stabbing incident outside a downtown Nashville bar in December 2019. In addition to being Casey’s son, he is younger brother to country artist Tucker Beathard and San Francisco 49ers football quarterback C.J. Beathard.

“I wasn’t sure Casey would even be able to be a part of this,” Eric said from the stage. “But I’ve never seen anybody show the kind of strength and faith that Casey did. Even though there was so much tragedy he was struggling with personally, he really channeled the motivation and the creativity to do his best work. And as a byproduct, so did I.”

Specifically, Eric remembers Casey pointing out a few of the lines in “Hell of a View” to him, saying “This is really good. Pay attention to this.”

“I think about that every time I play this song,” Eric noted.

Buffalo Bill’s home from 'Silence of the Lambs' is about to become a bed & breakfast

Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images(PERRYOPOLIS, PA) — It puts the breakfast in the bed…

The house featured as the home base of fictional serial killer Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs is about to join the hospitality industry.

TMZ reports that the 100-year-old house featured in the 1991 psychological thriller is being turned into a bed & breakfast.  Of course, guests will be staying in actual rooms and not in a creepy dark hole in the basement.

The four-bedroom house, which sold for $300,000 in October, will undergo renovations that will pay homage to the Oscar-winning film.

Chris Rowan, a theatrical art director based in NY, tells TMZ that he will transform the basement into a replica of the well where Buffalo Bill used to trap his victims, so guests can enjoy some fun photo ops.

Rowan also says he intends to construct an in-ground pool on the two-acre property.

It is unknown when renovations will be completed, but the new homeowner is confident that the pleasant looking house located in Perryopolis, PA will become a hit with tourists.

Silence of the Lambs, starring Ted Levine as the unhinged Buffalo Bill, as well as Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins as Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter, respectively.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill list their private island in the Bahamas for $35 million

John Shearer/Getty Images for Country Music Hall Of Fame & MuseumWant to own your own island?  Now’s your chance because country superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are about to part with theirs.

New York Post reports that the couple, who own L’île d’Anges in the Bahamas, have listed their slice of personal paradise Wednesday for $35 million dollars.

The couple first purchased the island in 2003 but didn’t move in until nearly a decade later as the island needed lots of work.  Meaning, besides building a comfy little home, the two needed to sort out the infrastructure such as bringing water, electricity and other necessities to the private island.

“We set out to build a house,” Hill told Architectural Digest in 2017. “We had no idea we had to build everything else. We basically had to build a little town.”

While the home was being constructed, McGraw and Hill resided in two yurts — which are now included in the property, according to the listing by Knight Frank.

Beyond offering four bedrooms and five bathrooms, the residence boasts 5,000 sq ft of private beaches that surround the island, an in-ground pool, private dock, three staff houses, eight pavilions and nearly 20 acres of land.

The listing also explains how the future residents can access the island — saying they will have to take a sea plane or private boat charter from the surrounding airports, where travel time from Miami or Nassau can take between 60 to 80 minutes.

Rosamund Pike says becoming her devious 'I Care a Lot' character "was actually quite liberating"

No Comments Entertainment News

Seacia Pavao / Netflix(NEW YORK) — Rosamund Pike says she felt a sense of freedom in her I Care a Lot role as Marla Grayson, a calculating entrepreneur who turns her business as a legal guardian into a successful scheme to cheat seniors out of their life savings.

“I think I’ve played some really wonderful women in the last few years…  sort of soulful, admirable, courageous, morally, like, centered women,” Pike tells ABC Audio. “And so to kind of escape from that and not have the burden of such greatness on my shoulders was actually quite liberating.”

Pike, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her icy portrayal, says getting to “play outside of the constraints of niceness and goodness and morality” was actually quite “fun.”

“I mean, it’s escapism of a different sort,” she explains.

While the actress admits the film does shed light on a horrific aspect of the guardianship industry, Pike still believes viewers will find the humor in her devilish character’s behavior.

“I think people will laugh. I think people [will] laugh very uncomfortably at this film,” she says. “It’s darkly funny. It’s a dark satire. It’s appalling in its humor. But you have to laugh because if you didn’t laugh, it would be too tragic, you know?”

In fact, Pike is banking on the fact that those who loved her in 2014’s Gone Girl — as the cunning Amy Dunne — will come back to support her once again.

“I do like working in this space and I’m hoping that a lot of the same audience who really sort of gravitated towards Gone Girl will find something in this film that they really relish again,” she adds.

I Care a Lot, also starring Eiza González, Peter Dinklage and Dianne Wiest, premieres Friday on Netflix.
