A cold front will bring another small chance of rain to the Hill Country, I-35 corridor and coastal plains Friday night into Saturday. Dry and cool weather is in store Sunday and Monday behind the cold front. Temperatures warm to near normal on Monday continuing into Wednesday.

Now, here’s your TTR Weather from the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio:

Tonight: Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the mid 60s. South winds 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Cooler. Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. North winds 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday Night And Monday: Clear. Lows around 50. Highs in the upper 70s.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows around 60.

Tuesday And Tuesday Night: Mostly clear. Highs in the mid 80s. Lows in the upper 60s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Lows around 70.

Here’s a quick update on the forecast for tonight. Thunderstorms remain possible for parts of the region from this evening into Tuesday morning as a cold front approaches from the north. Some of the thunderstorms may be strong to severe and capable of large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rainfall. Areas north of a Brenham to Groveton line have the best potential to see severe weather and/or locally heavy rain during this time.

There is the potential for thunderstorms to develop into a larger complex later tonight and move south towards the Gulf, with best rain chances occurring west of the Brazos River if this happens. We have also included an updated outlook for river flooding for concerned parties.

Strong to Severe Thunderstorms to Develop Late Tonight through Tuesday Morning

Timing and Overview:
A cold front currently pushing through North Texas is expected to stall across Central Texas this evening. As this boundary stalls, shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase in coverage and push farther south into South Texas. These storms are expected to move into an environment more conducive for the development of isolated strong to severe thunderstorms. At this time, the biggest threats these storms may produce are strong damaging winds and large hail greater than 1 inch. However, isolated tornadoes can not be ruled out. We anticipate that shower and thunderstorm activity will enter South Texas roughly after midnight across the northern areas of South Texas, including the cities of Cotulla, Beeville and Victoria, and then move slowly southward Tuesday morning across areas from near Laredo to the Texas coast. There still remains uncertainty with regard to the timing and position of shower and thunderstorm activity this evening through Tuesday morning.
South Texas Impacts:
Winds: 60+ mph
Hail: Large hail 1+ inch

Tornadoes: Isolated tornadoes possible, although main concerns are the wind and hail threat.

Thunderstorms will be possible for parts of the region Monday afternoon and evening as well as late Monday night into Tuesday morning as a cold front approaches the region. Some of the thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening may be strong to severe, with the main thunderstorm threat transitioning to locally heavy rain Monday night. Areas north of a Brenham to Groveton line have the best potential to see severe weather and/or locally heavy rain during this time.

Forecast confidence for Monday night is low as what happens Monday afternoon and evening will play a direct role in how thunderstorms behave Monday night.
