"That's a wrap": Creator Kevin Williamson announces the fifth 'Scream' movie is called…'Scream'

No Comments Entertainment News

L-R – Campbell, Cox, Williamson — Paramount Pictures/Spyglass Media(LOS ANGELES) — Franchise creator Kevin Williamson posted to Instagram a photo announcing that shooting has finished on the new film that re-united the (surviving) characters from his original 1996 hit movie, Scream

Oh, and the fifth movie in the series is officially titled Scream, according to the movie’s “clapper,” which executive producer Williamson is holding in the photo. Naturally, someone in that now-iconic Edvard Munch-inspired Scream mask is sneaking up behind him with a bloody knife in the pic.

“Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans,” Williamson writes in the caption, honoring the first film’s late director. “I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again.”

“I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film,” Williamson continues, giving a shout-out to the movie’s returning players Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Marley Shelton, as well as “an incredible cast of newcomers” that includes The Boys‘ Jack Quaid.

“I’m thrilled to be reunited with Neve, Courteney, David and Marley, and to be working alongside a new filmmaking team and incredible cast of newcomers.. to continue Wes’ legacy with the upcoming relaunch of the franchise that I hold so dear to my heart,” says Williamson.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing this time around. The pair previously collaborated on 2019’s hide-and-seek horror hit Ready Or Not.

“See you in theatres January 2022,” Williamson concludes.

Patrick Dempsey's return to 'Grey's Anatomy' is just "the tip of the iceberg"

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — Grey’s Anatomy fans haven’t seen the last of McDeamy.

After Patrick Dempsey’s character, Derek Shepherd, shocked fans with an unexpected return during season 17 of the beloved medical drama, fellow Grey’s star Kevin McKidd dished that there is so much more to come.

“All I can say is you have not seen the last of him,” McKidd said when asked by ET if McDreamy would make any future appearances. “That’s what I will say and whatever does come, it’s going to be… What you saw last week that everybody freaked out about is just a tiny, it’s the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. You’ll have to watch.”

Grey’s Anatomy first introduced Dempsey’s character in the pilot episode and he remained on the show until he was dramatically killed in season 11.

Much like fans, McKidd shared that he was surprised by the emotional return, but was worried that the secret would be ruined.

“We were on the beach shooting this, and at one point, we saw this boat out on the horizon and it stayed there for a bit too long. We were all like, ‘That’s a paparazzi boat! That’s a paparazzi boat!’ But luckily it wasn’t a paparazzi boat, but we really thought it was. There was a lot of paranoia about keeping this thing secret. It was stressful,” he said. “We had to lock down that whole beach, so nobody was allowed on it. It was a whole production, like a military operation.”

McKidd added that even the actors were kept in the dark, which he jokes is why they were able to avoid any leaks.

“… they kept it a secret from us for a long time,” he said. “That’s probably why it stayed a secret because they didn’t tell the actors for a long time!”

Matthew McConaughey explains how early fame nearly destroyed his relationship with his mom

No Comments Entertainment News

L-R: Camila Alves, Matthew and Kay McConaughey — Gary Miller/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Matthew McConaughey is opening up about the time he couldn’t speak to his mother for almost a decade.

During Tuesday’s episode of Red Table Talk, the actor and his mother, 88-year-old Kay McConaughey, candidly discussed how fame strained their once strong bond and caused an eight-year estrangement.

The Oscar Award-winning actor explained that, when his career took off in 1996 following his successful debut movie, his mother became someone else entirely — an obsessed fan.

“As soon as I got ‘famous’ after A Time to Kill, I started having my weekly Sunday call home to call my mother,” McConaughey began. “But my mother wasn’t answering the phone. A fan of my fame was answering the phone.”

The Greenlights author furthered that his mother’s transformation from a parent to a fan came at a time when he “was trying to find my own balance with fame.”

Their relationship further deteriorated when Kay started leaking their conversations to the media.

“Some of those things I would share might show up in the six o’clock news three days later,” he reflected.

Things came to a head when McConaughey turned on the news and watched in horror as Kay paraded a crew from the tabloid show Hard Copy through his childhood home and disclosed very personal stories about him.

When McConaughey called to confront his mom, her response of “I didn’t think you’d find out” drove a wedge in their relationship.

“I was not able to talk to her as my mom for about eight years,” the 51-year-old actor confessed.

Kay acknowledged that she had been “enjoying his fame more than he was.”

Thankfully, the two “healed” their relationship in 2004, with McConaughey noting, “My boat was built well enough where I didn’t feel like she could sink it.”

Out of 'Prison' for good, Wentworth Miller set for 'Law & Order: SVU' comeback

No Comments Entertainment News

Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Wentworth Miller is making a return to Law & Order: SVU.

According to ET, the 48-year-old actor will return to the series for season 22 as ADA Isaiah Holmes — Miller’s character who was first introduced during Season 21.

While there was no confirmed airdate for Miller’s appearance as Holmes, it is expected in early 2021 and will feature his character’s return as the newly promoted lead of the Brooklyn DA’s Civil Rights Unit who is “pulled back into the SVU fold after one of his old schoolmates comes under investigation and ADA Dominick Carisi Jr., portrayed by Peter Scanavino, seeks out Holmes’ help.”

News of Miller’s return to Law & Order: SVU comes after he revealed he would not be returning to Prison Break — a drama where, for five seasons, he portrayed a man name Michael Scofield, who devises a plan to spring his wrongly-accused brother from jail.

“I’m out. Of PB. Officially,” he shared in an Instagram caption on November 8.

“Not [because] of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told),” Miller wrote. “So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I’m sorry.”

“If you’re hot and bothered [because] you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one… That’s your work,” he added.
