"Let's go, girls!": Shania Twain launches TikTok challenge for Women's History Month

No Comments Country Music News

Clive Brunskill/Getty ImagesIn honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Shania Twain is launching the #LetsGoGirls challenge on TikTok.

Soundtracked to her iconic hit, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” the challenge calls upon TikTok users to share the most empowering aspects of being a woman by creating a transition, or stitch, reacting to the song’s famous opening line, “Let’s go, girls!”

Shania herself has taken the challenge with a video that shows her attempting to make her bed, but as the classic line plays, she abandons the covers and dances her way out to her oceanfront patio.

“TikTok is a place where everyone has a voice. It is more than a platform, it is a community. Somewhere to celebrate creativity and have fun – so I’m in!” Shania shares. “TikTok and I are spending March supporting all those who ‘feel like a woman,’ so join me loudly when I say ‘Let’s go, girls!’”

Released in 1999, the hit single reached the top five on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and was also a hit on Billboard‘s Hot 100, Adult Top 40 and Adult Contemporary charts. It won a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2000.

Kenny Chesney finds solitude by the sea in "Knowing You" video trailer

No Comments Country Music News

Warner Music Nashville Kenny Chesney heads to the coast in the trailer for the video for his latest single, “Knowing You.”

Filmed last fall in the fishing town of Gloucester, Mass. and the island St. Croix in the Caribbean, the clip shows the superstar strolling through the mist along a jetty in the middle of the ocean, with a lighthouse offering a glimmer of light in the background.

“Not everything is meant to last. You don’t think about that when it’s perfect. And when it’s over, there’s a huge hole, but there’s also a pair of wings,” Kenny says in a voiceover.

The camera then moves to a sailboat floating on the water at sunset. “Knowing you, wherever you are, I know you’re happy. You’re flying, and free. And I’m here still grateful for knowing you,” Kenny says as the video fades into a view of the gray ocean.

The official video, which premieres on Friday, features footage of Kenny and his boat captain, Ben, working on a fishing boat off the East Coast.

“Knowing You” is the fourth single off Kenny’s 2020 album, Here and Now, the title track of which is his 31st number-one hit.

Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa to open this summer

No Comments Country Music News

Becky FlukeFollowing the announcement last week that she’s the first female country singer to open a bar and restaurant on Broadway in downtown Nashville, Miranda Lambert is sharing more details about Casa Rosa.

The Texas-inspired eatery doubles as a four-floor venue, three of which will feature live entertainment, along with a rooftop bar, slated to open in summer 2021.

The complex will be decked out with memorabilia from Miranda’s illustrious career, including costumes from her videos and the birdcage featured in the video for her latest #1 hit, “Bluebird.”

True to its name, the “Pink House” boasts tufted pink booths, along with a rhinestone saddle modeled after one of the singer’s favorites that hangs inside Billy Bob’s Texas, and an Instagram-worthy yellow rose wall.

The menu will feature Tex-Mex items such as tacos and one of Miranda’s favorite libations, tequila.

“I’m so excited to have a honky tonk with my name on it! Casa Rosa will be a little taste of Texas in Tennessee,” she says. “This place is special to me and I’m happy to be representing  the ladies here in Music City! See y’all down there!”

To create Casa Rosa, Miranda is working with TC Restaurant Group, the company that’s also behind FGL House, Luke’s 32 Bridge and more.

Additionally, Miranda is releasing The Marfa Tapes on May 7, an album with singer-songwriters Jack Ingram and Jon Randall.

Morgan Wallen remains at #1 on 'Billboard' 200

ABCMorgan Wallen continues to sit in the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 with his album Dangerous

Morgan is spending his eighth consecutive week at the top of the all-genre chart, earning 82,000 equivalent album units this week and marking the first time a country album has spent its first eight weeks in the top spot on the all-genre chart. That makes Dangerous one of six country albums to spend at least eight weeks at #1 on the chart: it’s currently in a tie with Garth Brooks‘ The Hits, which also logged eight weeks.

Garth’s Ropin’ the Wind album, Billy Ray Cyrus‘ Some Gave All and Taylor Swift‘s Grammy-winning Fearless have all spent more than 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200.

The news arrives weeks after Morgan was caught on video using a racial slur, leading to multiple stations across the country removing his music from its playlists. His label, Big Loud Records, suspended his recording contract indefinitely and he was dropped by talent agency, WME.  The Academy of Country Music also deemed that Morgan and Dangerous were ineligible for nominations at the 2021 ACM Awards.

A week after the video surfaced in February, Morgan asked his fans in an Instagram video to stop coming to his defense. “I appreciate those who still see something in me and have defended me. But for today, please don’t. I was wrong. It’s on me to take ownership of this, and I fully accept any penalties I’ll face,” he said.
