Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton will co-host the 2021 ACM Awards

No Comments Country Music News

Academy of Country MusicThe Academy of Country Music announced on Thursday that Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton will be the co-hosts of the upcoming 56th ACM Awards ceremony.

It’s Keith’s second consecutive year helming the show; he also won the coveted ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy in 2019. The ACM announced this year’s hosts via a video message, which Keith kicks off by revealing his return as host.

“But I also love collaborating, and I was thinking it would be kinda cool if I had someone to co-host with this time,” the singer says in the clip. “So how ‘bout we call ‘em? Fingers crossed.”

He then goes on to FaceTime Mickey, surprising the “Black Like Me” breakout star by asking her to join him in hosting this year’s ceremony.

“Yes! Do I have a pulse? Of course!” Mickey responds.

In 2020, Mickey made country music history when she became the first solo Black female artist to ever perform on the ACMs stage. For that big moment, Keith accompanied her on piano.  Now, she’ll become the first Black woman to host the ACMs.

“As I’ve said before, ‘If you can see it, you can be it,’ and it’s such an honor to step onto the ACM stage as the first ever Black woman to host the show,” Mickey says. “…This is a moment of great significance for me and I am so thrilled to share it with all the fans.

Mickey is nominated for ACM New Female Artist of the Year. Keith is up for Music Event of the Year for his Pink collaboration, “One Too Many,” and also has another nod for his participation in the Thomas Rhett-led group effort, “Be a Light.”

The ACMs air on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 18.

Niko Moon maps out trips and tattoos to mark his first #1 as an artist

Matthew Berinato

After writing five number ones for Zac Brown BandNiko Moon marks an even more personal milestone this week, as “Good Time” becomes his first number one as an artist. And the Georgia native’s ready to take a hard-fought victory lap to mark the occasion.

“I wanna go on a trip somewhere, you know, I mean, because to be honest, I really haven’t gone too much of anywhere this past year,” he says. “So I told my wife she could pick where we go.”

“She’s kind of like trying to decide between going down to Florida to the beach, or maybe somewhere like Gatlinburg or something more, kind of like in the mountains.” he continues. “So… we’ll go and get away somewhere for a few days and celebrate.”

Anna Moon‘s rightfully part of the celebration, since she’s one of the co-writers of “Good Time” as well.

Given Niko’s fondness for tattoos, if you’re expecting him to commemorate his chart topper with some new ink — well, he’s way ahead of you.

“I got ‘Good Time’ tattooed on my legs, and that was when the song first released, because that was a big moment for me,” he reveals. “I mean, [it’s] my very first song I ever released as an artist, my very first song on the radio — I mean, major, major moment in my life — had to commemorate it.”

Niko is planning on adding another tattoo for his number one; he just hasn’t settled on it yet.

“I’ve been thinking maybe like a fishing pole with a little bobber on it or maybe a little bottle of apple pie moonshine,” he says. “I haven’t decided but I’m definitely gonna get something.”

You can check out Niko’s Tuesday night performance of “Good Time” from Jimmy Kimmel Live on YouTube now.

Adam Levine says he and Blake Shelton "talk all the time"

No Comments Country Music News

Tyler Golden/NBCEven though they don’t work together anymore, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still close friends.

In an interview with People (the TV Show!), Adam said that while he’s no longer a judge on The Voice along with Blake, he and the country star “keep in touch constantly.” “We’re always keeping tabs with each other, texting or FaceTime or however we can do it,” Adam reveals.

Adam and Blake reunited for the first time in nearly two years when they filmed the T-Mobile Super Bowl ad, in which Adam sets Blake up on a blind date with his future fiancée, Gwen Stefani.

“They asked me to do it, and it was so funny ’cause I was kinda thinking to myself, ‘Are they aware that I’m not on The Voice anymore?'” Adam continues. “But the second I saw Blake, it was as if no time had passed, because we talk all the time.”

Though the Maroon 5 frontman left The Voice in 2019 after 16 seasons, Blake has continued on as a judge, joining Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas for the show’s 20th season, which debuted earlier this month on NBC. Blake met fellow coach Gwen when she joined the show in 2014.

Ingrid Andress breaks through gender stereotypes in elegant "Lady Like" video

No Comments Country Music News

Lauren Dunn Ingrid Andress shows what it means to be “Lady Like” in the video for her latest single.

Directed by Lauren Dunn, the video takes an artistic approach, as it shows Ingrid breaking through gender stereotypes in eclectic, yet subtle ways.

Surrounded by trees and greenery throughout the video, the singer is shown stomping on eggshells in a pair of snakeskin boots, and putting out a a cigarette into the center of a three-layer strawberry shortcake.

Burning a bra and dropping a freshly made pie that shatters as it hits the ground are some of the other visuals that get the song’s message across, while Ingrid is flanked by dancers who also help bring the song to life through their elegant movements.

“Lady Like” is Ingrid’s current single from her Grammy-nominated debut album of the same name.  In addition to earning a nod for Best Country album at Sunday’s Grammys, Ingrid is also up for Best Country Song, for her chart-topping hit “More Hearts Than Mine,” and for the prestigious all-genre Best New Artist award.
