No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAThis season of NBC’s The Voice will wrap up next week with a special two-hour finale, and a number of superstars will be on hand to perform, including an impressive lineup of country artists.

It’s no surprise that coach Blake Shelton will take the stage, along with his fellow coaches John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani. But that’s not all the show has in store for country fans.

Dan + Shay and Keith Urban will also appear during the finale, with the duo performing their original Christmas hit “Take Me Home for Christmas,” and Keith performing “One Too Many,” his Pink duet from his latest album, The Speed of Now Part 1.

Florida Georgia Line band mate Tyler Hubbard will be there too, joining rapper Nelly onstage for the two acts’ recent collaboration, “Lil Bit.”

The show also will feature the four coaches’ holiday performance of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which was a country hit for Brenda Lee back in 1958.

The Voice’s season finale will take place next Tuesday, December 15 from 9-11PM ET. You can watch the show on NBC.

Patty Jenkins says her upcoming 'Star Wars' movie 'Rogue Squadron' is a tribute to her late fighter pilot dad

WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC.(LOS ANGELES) — While some Star Wars fans could have anticipated at least some of the upcoming projects that were announced as part of the Disney Investor Day presentation Thursday, a major surprise was a movie called Rogue Squadron

Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins has been tapped to direct, making her the first woman to helm a Star Wars feature film.

While it’s too early to share any footage about the film, which centers on the titular group of legendary Rebel pilots, Jenkins introduced her contribution with a Twitter video about how close the movie it is to her heart.

“I love…speed of any kind,” says the filmmaker, who is rollerblading across a tarmac in the video. “I think that’s because I grew up the daughter of a great fighter pilot…And every day I’d wake up and look outside and…see my father and his squadron taking off and their F-4s roaring across the sky,” calling it, “the most thrilling thing I have experienced in my entire life.”

As she says this, she’s reached her car’s open trunk and begins changing off camera.

She continues, “…when he lost his life in service to this country, it ignited a desire in me to turn all that tragedy and thrill into one day making the greatest fighter pilot movie of all time.”

Jenkins mentions she could never find the right project…”Until now.”

Jenkins says she, “finally found a movie that combines the two things I love,” Jenkins says. “So I’m gonna see you very soon,” she smiles, as she puts on a Rebel pilot helmet.

And with that the camera pulls out to reveal see she’d zipped herself into an orange flight suit — and walks to a waiting X-Wing fighter.

Jenkins’ next film, Wonder Woman 1984, opens in theaters and debuts on HBO Max on December 25.

Star Wars is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

21-year-old arrested in Nashville nurse slaying: Police

Metropolitan Nashville Police DepartmentBy EMILY SHAPIRO, ABC News

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday morning in the slaying of Nashville nurse Caitlyn Kaufman, who was shot dead while driving to work, police said.

Devaunte Hill was arrested at his East Nashville apartment and is being charged with criminal homicide, Nashville Police Chief John Drake said at a Friday news conference.

“Hill gave a statement implicating himself in Caitlyn’s murder,” Drake said.

Hill did not know Kaufman, Drake said.

Kaufman, 26, was shot and killed on Dec. 3 while driving her gray Mazda SUV on I-440, the Metro Nashville police said. Kaufman was on the way to St. Thomas West Hospital for a 7 p.m. shift, police said.

Drake said the “major break” came after Nashville business owners offered a reward and a “concerned citizen” came forward Thursday afternoon identifying Hill as a suspect.

The concerned citizen gave information about the weapon and the gun was recovered Thursday night, Drake said. Ballistics experts found it to be a match to the scene, Drake said.

The investigation is ongoing and police said they are not ruling out the possibility of additional arrests.

Kristen Wiig gushes about being a mom: "It's frickin’ awesome"

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Wonder Woman 1984 star Kristen Wiig opened up about motherhood in a candid new interview.

The 47-year-old actress, who welcomed her twins via surrogate in January alongside fiancé Avi Rothman, sat down with Entertainment Tonight Thursday to speak about how much her life has changed since becoming a mom.

“It’s the best,” said Wiig. “I know everyone always says that, and everyone says, like, it changes how you look at the world and how you… and all of that stuff is so true.”

Wiig assured that she isn’t over her head juggling a successful acting career and twins, adding, “Just having these two other little beings that I get to take care of is so amazing and, even though it’s hard, I feel more relaxed in a way.”

“I don’t know why, but I had this sense of, like, calm after they were born,” she shrugged, adding that the mentality carried her through the entire year.

“Now that I have these two little ones, my mind is just not on work,” said Wiig. “Even if this global pandemic weren’t going on, I would want to be with my kids.”

While the Oscar-nominee confesses that “some days I get more sleep than others,” she wouldn’t trade her little ones for the world.  “It is what it is. And it’s frickin’ awesome.”

Wiig added that since having children, she’s completely rethinking how she does her job, which she says was like “an isolated existence” because “you’re on your own a lot.”

“Now that I have kids, it’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t want this to be about me, I don’t wanna think about me anymore,” she smiled.

Wiig stars as the villain Cheetah in the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984, which is available for streaming on HBO Max on Christmas Day.

“It Wasn’t His Child”: Tim McGraw finds the reason behind the season with new holiday release

No Comments Country Music News

Courtesy of Big Machine RecordsTim McGraw offers a poignant tribute to the meaning behind Christmas with his newest release, “It Wasn’t His Child.”

The faith-focused song was originally written and recorded by country singer-songwriter Skip Ewing, and Tim explains that it’s always been one of his favorite holiday tunes. His new version, McGraw says, is his contribution to holiday spirit at the end of what’s been an especially difficult year for many.

“It’s been a crazy year and we’ve worked hard to put out music, knowing how much it can mean and provide solace in difficult times,” Tim points out. “This is our final chance to thank everyone for sticking with us this year and more importantly, provide some Christmas spirit to you this holiday season.”

Tim performed “It Wasn’t His Child” during ABC’s CMA Country Christmas special last month, a show that will air again on December 21.  But that wasn’t the first time he’s played the song live: That happened back in 2003, at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway.
