Eric Church to feature on the NFL’s newly-announced Super Bowl LV visual album

No Comments Country Music News

ABCEric Church’s national anthem performance with Jazmine Sullivan at the upcoming Super Bowl will be among the musical highlights included in a just-announced Live Visual Album documenting the big game.

On Friday, the NFL announced plans to commemorate the Super Bowl LV, which takes place on Sunday, so that fans can enjoy the experience online, across multiple platforms. Performances will go live on DSPS, Apple Music, Amazon, TIDAL and more throughout Sunday evening, as they take place in real time.

In addition to Eric and Jazmine’s national anthem performance kicking off the game, other featured performances will include H.E.R.’s “America the Beautiful” and The Weeknd’s halftime show performance. The Live Visual Album is available to pre-save now.

It’s sure to be a busy weekend for Eric. In addition to his Super Bowl spot, he’s gearing up for the April release of his triple album, Heart & Soul. On Thursday, he rolled out two more new tracks off that project to members of his Church Choir fan club. Both songs were exclusive to the Church Choir for 24 hours. One of them, “Lone Wolf,” will remain that way — it’s on Eric’s middle album, &, which is a fan club-exclusive vinyl record.

The other new tune, “Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones,” is available to the general public now.

Tom Holland claims the next 'Spider-Man' film is the most "ambitious" superhero movie yet

No Comments Entertainment News

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Tom Holland cannot reveal too much about the upcoming Spider-Man movie, but did promise one thing: it is going to raise the bar on all superhero flicks.

Holland, who stars as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, chatted with Variety on Thursday about his Apple TV+ film Cherry before the conversation gravitated toward the MCU.

When asked if he could reveal “anything” about the third Spider-Man film, Holland replied, “Obviously, I can’t really say anything.”

However, it appears the 24-year-old actor is struggling to keep the movie’s secrets under lock and key because, later, he confessed to the interviewer, “What’s funny is like, I nearly told you then. You were so close to getting what you want.”

Holland admitted he is extremely excited about this film and cannot wait for it to hit theaters.

“I can say that it’s the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made,” he gushed. “You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding. It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it.”

The interviewer tried unsuccessfully to squeeze Holland on the movie’s casting rumors, namely if former Spideys Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are on board.

“Beats me, I don’t know. If they are, they haven’t told me yet,” shrugged Holland. “That would be something that Marvel would do. I watch the film and be like ‘So that’s who that tennis ball was!'”

Holland added that he feels extremely “lucky” to be playing Spider-Man in the upcoming third installment.

“I’m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it,” he furthered.

The yet unnamed Spider-Man 3 is expected to hit theaters December 17, 2021.

Luke Bryan unleashes “Country Does,” the first new track off a just-announced upcoming deluxe album

No Comments Country Music News

UMG NashvilleLuke Bryan took to Facebook Live with some big news to share on Thursday evening, announcing that he’s planning to release a deluxe version of his latest album, Born Here Live Here Die Here, on April 9.

The new project will add six new songs to the album’s track list. Luke explained that due to the unexpected downtime he had during the COVID-19 pandemic, he found himself spending more time creating and selecting new music.

“With COVID and everything, we had some extra songs that we were able to write and record, so you know what, it was the perfect time to put together six new songs,” the singer explained.

He then went on to play two of the new songs. The first one, an ode to small-town living called “Country Does,” he introduced as a track that “is just about the way I was brought up…and the first time I heard it, it was something I knew I had to go in and record.”

On the heels of that announcement, Luke released the studio version of “Country Does,” which is available now, and which fans will automatically receive when they pre-order or pre-save the deluxe version of Born Here Live Here Die Here.

The other new song Luke previewed was a “big ol’ summer song” called “Waves.” He closed out his performance with a live rendition of his current single, “Down to One,” which is currently a Top 5 hit.

This year's Super Bowl ads: Fewer movie trailers, more A-list stars…and diapers?

No Comments Entertainment News

Frito-Lay(NEW YORK) — Sure, there’s a football game going on on Sunday but millions of people tune into the Super Bowl just for the commercials. But just like seemingly everything else in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the kinds of ads you’ll be seeing this year.

Ad Age Senior Editor Jeanine Poggi [POE-gee] tells ABC Audio that, for example, you won’t be seeing the traditional debuts of movie trailers for big blockbusters this year.

“Obviously with theaters closed, [and] a lot of productions being delayed and pushed back, we’re expecting far fewer studios to advertise in the game this year,” she explains.

But Poggi says the ads we do see will be more star-studded for the same reason.

“We saw a lot of…TV and movie studios delaying productions…which means that some of these really A-list celebrities have more time to actually come in and do commercials that perhaps in the past they never would have done,” she explains.

She’s not wrong: just some of the stars who’ll we’ll see this year in ads include John Travolta, Dan LevyMichael B. JordanAshton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Matthew McConaugheyWill Ferrell, Jason Alexander, Amy Schumer, Post MaloneSerena WilliamsMike Myers, Cardi B, John Cena and more.

Replacing more traditional advertisers who are sitting out this year, Poggie says, will be online companies that made a mint during lockdown, like Uber Eats, plus many first-time advertisers. For example, Huggies will bring us the first-ever Super Bowl ad for diapers.

Overall, expect the tone to be lighthearted.

“I’m sure some [ads] will touch on some of the themes that we saw during the pandemic and social justice movements,” Poggi notes. “But I think for the most part, brands are really viewing the Super Bowl as a place to entertain consumers.”

Dan + Shay are grateful and “Glad You Exist” in their feel-good new single

No Comments Country Music News

Warner Music NashvilleDan + Shay have a message of positivity and gratitude to share in their uplifting new single, “Glad You Exist,” which arrived on Friday morning after the band had been teasing it on social media for several days.

“To us, ‘Glad You Exist’ is more than just a song,” the duo reveals. “It’s a message of gratitude and hope. A message to everyone in our lives: Our fans, our friends, our families, to remind them all how grateful we are to be on the planet at the same time.”

That’s an especially poignant message for the pandemic era, where Dan + Shay, like most other touring acts across the world, have found themselves at home and away from their fans more than they ever could have imagined beforehand.

“This song has taken on new meaning not being able to see our loved ones in person, but throughout history, music has always had a special way of bringing people together, even when we are furthest apart,” Dan + Shay continue. “We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again (and again.) We’re just so glad you exist. Every. Single. One of you.”

“Glad You Exist” follows “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” the band’s fifth consecutive chart-topping single, which they put out last July.
