…Gale Warning in Effect Beginning 6 AM Thursday…

…Wind Advisory in Effect 6 AM through 6 PM Thursday…

Timing and Overview:
Strong cold front will push through South Texas tonight. As the front pushes offshore, gales will quickly develop behind it. Winds will begin ramping up between 3 and 5 am with Gales likely from 6 am. Winds over the coastal counties will increase during the morning and last through the afternoon with very gusty conditions expected.

Forecast:

Wind: Open Marine Waters: Sustained winds N 25 to 30 knots with gusts to 40 knots. 6 AM through Midnight

Bays and Waterways: Sustained winds 25 to 30 knots with gusts to 35 knots. 6 AM though 6 PM

Coastal Counties: Sustained winds around 30 mph with gusts near 40 mph.
Seas/Bays: Waves increasing to 7 to 10 feet nearshore…9 to 12 feet offshore Bays Rough to Very Rough
Impacts: Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

Loose items in yards and parking lots will likely be blown around. Items should be secured if possible. This is a particular concern this time of year with holiday decorations.
