No Comments Local News

TTR Weather Update including information for Colorado, Jackson, and Wharton Counties from the Natonal Weather Service in Houston – Galveston.

Severe Weather – SPC has SE Texas in a marginal risk for severe storms. There will be a cap of warm air aloft which should limit thunderstorm activity and the overall severe threat so there is low confidence in severe weather. The outside chance a severe storm does develop, it could very well rotate producing damaging wind gusts and a weak brief tornado. Small hail cannot be ruled out if there is enough instability. Basic time frame 3PM Suturday to 12AM Sunday ahead of the cold front.

Cold Weather – High temperatures on Saturday could reach upper 70s to 80F. Record high temperature at Houston IAH is 80F. Cold front should push through 9PM Saturday through 3AM Sunday. Temperatures will fall into the 30s Sunday morning and may only reach the low 40s for high temperatures. Monday morning a more widespread freeze will be possible. Only Houston, Trinity, Walker and Madison counties have reached freezing so the rest of the area may need a Freeze warning. Possible that even Sunday morning a freeze warning may be needed for Brazos and Burleson Counties but it will be very close. Sunday night into Monday morning areas north of I-10 could have 6 hours or more of freezing temperatures. We will continue to monitor temperatures and keep you updated on the latest thinking.

Marine – Gale Watch has been posted for gale force winds behind the front on Sunday.
