The Bachelor recap: A night in the fantasy suites leads to a heartbreaking departure

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — It was time for fantasy suites on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor, with Matt going on one-on-one dates with the three remaining women, before facing the big question — were they ready to spend the night together?

Before Matt could move forward though, he needed to address a longstanding rift between him and his father, whose infidelity led to the breakup of his parents’ marriage.  Matt said the lack of a father figure in his life ultimately affected his own relationships.  Following an emotional and brutally honest conversation, Matt found some needed closure and was confident that he would not make the same mistakes as his dad.

The first date went to Michelle, who joined Matt for a “traditional Pennsylvania Dutch spa” date, which involved a foot soak in oatmeal and a rubdown with butter, followed by a milk bath and a serious conversation about Michelle’s formula for a lasting relationship.

At dinner, it was Matt’s turn to open up about his fears and hopes for the future, after which Michelle assured him that even though he didn’t experience the stable family life that she had, Matt still brought “just as much to the table,” and she looked at him as “her person.”

Michelle accepted his invitation to explore their relationship even further with a night in the fantasy suite. Interestingly, after telling Matt more than once that she was in love with him, the strongest response he could muster was, “Thanks for sharing that.”

Next it was Bri’s turn to see if Matt was ready to take their relationship to the next level.  The date began with a hike in the woods, a true test of their compatibility since Bri is not exactly an outdoor person. Lucky for her, as Matt confessed — out of earshot to Bri — neither was he.

Bri, in a private interview, revealed her hope that the night would end with a proposal, and made sure that Matt knew exactly how prepared she was to spend the rest of her life with him.

Bri described her overnight with Matt in the fantasy suite as possibly “life-changing” and that she “got to know really intimate parts about him.”  Matt, for his part, said privately that he could see a life with Bri… but he still had some tough decisions to make.

Needless to say, all three women were uncomfortable that Matt would be spending an entire night alone and sharing intimate conversations with their competition, particularly Rachael, who was “sick to her stomach” that she could possibly lose him to another finalist.

Her date with Matt started with a ceramics lesson, but her mind was only on Matt, and if his feelings for her had changed after his other overnights.  She interrupted the lesson to “get answers” from him, rather than “wait around for the heartbreak.”

He reiterated his earlier assertion from a previous date that he was, indeed, “falling in love” with Rachael and she reciprocated his feelings.

Their night in the fantasy suite started off with a fireworks display. The next time we would see them was at the final rose ceremony.

When the moment arrived, Bachelor Nation learned that Michelle and Rachael would move on to meet Matt’s family and a possible engagement, while Bri’s long journey would end with a tearful goodbye.

The Bachelor season 25 finale airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

After watching Oprah interview, Bethenny Frankel apologizes for flaming Meghan with "Cry me a river" tweet

John Lamparski/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Bethenny Frankel is walking back her criticism of Meghan Markle after she watched Oprah Winfrey’s ratings-grabbing interview with Markle and her husband, Prince Harry.

Prior to watching it, Frankel tweeted regarding the Duchess of Sussex’s plight “Cry me a river…the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, w tiaras & 7 figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w @Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7 m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals….”

Frankel also compared her life as a Real Housewives reality TV star to Markle’s, saying, “I chose reality tv, to work towards making $, to be scrutinized & criticized. I took the trappings & the beatings along with it. It’s a rose w petals & thorns. People beg to enter the often toxic institution I signed up for. That WAS the life I chose. You can’t play stupid & smart.”

Frankel received her share of flame for the shade, but following the interview, she changed her tune. “Emotional distress & racism must feel suffocating & powerless,” she posted Sunday evening.  “I’m a polarizing, unfiltered (often to a fault) flawed person w a voice. When I heard of the interview, during a pandemic, it felt like a surprising choice. I’m sorry if it hurt or offended you.”

Cathy Snyder, Michael Snyder’s aunt, posted the news to Facebook, along with a message from the young man’s father and photo of Snyder at work, holding up a boom mic on a movie’s set.

“Bravely shared just now by my brother, David Snyder, MD, in the hope that the truth might help someone else who is suffering with depression and suicidal ideation, especially during this isolating time of Covid,” she posted. “Maybe it can save even one person and urge them to try to reach out in their despair and hopelessness.”

Snyder’s father, a psychiatrist, noted, “Unfortunately, we believe he was gone before getting to see the Golden Globe awards. We will never know what changed in the last month or two, but even his love for his family, as well as his love of film and his movie family, was not enough to conquer his demons.”

Snyder was a frequent collaborator of Nomadland‘s award-winning director Chloe Zhao, who called Snyder her “ears” in statement to Variety, “I will always miss him. He would always be with me on set, after each take, and in the silence of every room tone. See you down the road, my friend.”

The film’s award-winning lead, Frances McDormand, added, “Wolf recorded our heart beats. Our every breath. For me, he is Nomadland.'”

'The Queen's Gambit' getting the Broadway musical treatment

No Comments Entertainment News

Netflix(NEW YORK) — The story that inspired Netflix’s hit drama The Queen’s Gambit could be coming to Broadway. Entertainment company Level Forward has acquired the rights to Walter Tevis’ The Queen’s Gambit, the 1983 novel behind the award-winning streaming hit, with plans to adapt it into a musical.

The book, like the miniseries, centers on Beth Harmon, an orphan turned chess prodigy, who grapples with addiction and the challenges of the male-dominated world of competitive chess.

In a statement, Level Forward CEO Adrienne Becker and producer Julia Dunetz called it a “privilege” to bring the story to the stage, calling it “a siren call amidst our contemporary struggles for gender and racial equity.”

The Queen’s Gambit received two Critics’ Choice Awards Sunday night: Best Limited Series and Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Harmon.

Taylor-Joy was also awarded a Best Actress in a Limited Series Golden Globe last week, while the series itself was honored with a trophy in the Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television category.

Oprah says it wasn't Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip who wondered about the "color" of Harry and Meghan's son

No Comments Entertainment News

Harpo Productions/ Photographer: Joe Pugliese(LOS ANGELES) — One of the bombshell accusations leveled by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during Sunday night’s Oprah Winfrey interview Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special was that there allegedly were “concerns” within the royal family about the skin color of the duke and duchess’ mixed-race children.

However, during a conversation with her bestie Gayle King on CBS This Morning, Oprah threw cold water on speculation that it was Queen Elizabeth or her husband, Prince Philip, who made the comments.

“[Prince Harry] did not share the identity with me,” as to who raised the concern, Winfrey explained, clarifying, “he wanted to make sure that I knew and, if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother nor his grandfather that were a part of those conversations.”

During the marathon chat with the couple, Markle, who is biracial, said she and Harry were “blindsided” by racist comments that were made both in the media and within what she called “The Firm,” a reference to Buckingham Palace.

Harry commented that he has a good relationship with his grandparents, though he noted that his father, Charles, Prince of Wales, had stopped taking his calls, and that the Royal Family had cut him off financially.

Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special drew huge numbers for CBS, attracting more than 17 million viewers for the network, according to preliminary numbers quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
