Here's how Dakota Johnson responded to being cut off financially by her dad

No Comments Entertainment News

NBC(NEW YORK) — Dakota Johnson can thank her dad, Don Johnson for her independence, at least in his opinion.

During a recent appearance on NBC Late Night, the star of the network’s new comedy Kenan revealed to Seth Meyers that he had cut his daughter off financially after high school when she announced she wasn’t going to college.

“We have a rule in the family that, you know, if you stay in school, you get to stay on the payroll. So, you go to college, you get to stay on the payroll,” the 71-year-old actor began.

“Toward the end of high school, I went to her and I said, ‘So, do you want to go visit some colleges?’…And she was like, ‘Oh, no. I’m not going to college, no way.’ I went, ‘OK, you know what that means? You won’t be on the payroll anymore.'”

When he asked his daughter how she was going to manage, she replied, “Don’t you worry about it.” Three weeks later, she landed a role in David Fincher’s 2010 film, The Social Network.

“The rest is, shall we say, cinema history,” he continued.  “So, no, she doesn’t really call me for advice.  She calls me to say that, ‘Uh, gosh, I would see you but I’ve got three pictures that I’m shooting at the same time.’ She’s gainfully employed, and Seth, that’s a great day.”

Seth Rogen’s weed company’s website crashes due to “high” demand

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Seth Rogen’s cannabis company, Houseplant, ran into a little trouble on its launch day, but fortunately, it was the good kind.

Rogen debuted the company’s website on Thursday, and it promptly crashed around 10 AM PT due to “high” volume.

Seth tweeted, “Due to insane traffic we took the Houseplant site down temporarily while I learn to write code. I’m very sorry if you’ve been waiting. There’s still a lot of products available! I will let you know as soon as it’s up again.”

Luckily, Seth was able to fix the site and tweeted when it was up and running again, though he’s warning customers there’s still a waiting room to deal with the high traffic.

Later in the day, he thanked fans, saying it was “legit thrilling” to see people “enjoying our tins of weed.”

Jennifer Garner shares what a typical "Yes Day" looks like for her

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy of Netflix(LOS ANGELES) — What does Jennifer Garner do on Yes Day with her kids? She stars in the new Netflix film Yes Day, out today, which is all about saying yes to almost everything your kids want to do for 24 hours. In the movie, the kids go crazy, but Garner tells ABC Audio that in real life it’s actually pretty tame.

“My kids wanted to, while the car was parked, sit in the front seat and play with the knobs and put their head out of the sunroof,” she shares. “It was little things like that.”

Garner adds that her children — Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, whom she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck — wanted to “go to the gas station and buy junk food and lottery tickets, just be in control.”

“Of course, we always had ice cream for breakfast. We stay up late at night. I put a couple of fun things in the middle of the day and boom, it’s not as scary as this movie can make it seem,” the 48-year-old actress says.

However, even during a real life “yes day,” Garner admits that there are some things that she’s had to say no to.

“Every year my kids would just give it a good run at ‘Can we got a puppy?’ But that is not the deal,” she reveals. “You can’t get something that’s going to last more than that day. So that’s a good, NO.”

Yes Day is available for streaming now on Netflix.

Restored scene in 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' leads to 'Flash' role for actress Kiersey Clemons

No Comments Entertainment News

Warner Bros. Pictures/HBO Max(LOS ANGELES) —  Like the Flash did in the comics, the Scarlet Speedster has just changed the future — for actress Kiersey Clemons.  And it’s all because of Zack Snyder’s restored version of Justice League

When Joss Whedon took over directing Justice League back in 2017, following studio meddling and a family tragedy that caused Snyder to drop out of the project, much of his footage was left on the editing room floor.  One of these scenes centered on Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen/the Flash, and a beautiful young woman he saved called Iris West, played by Clemons.

However, that deleted scene has been restored in Zack Snyder’s new version — and as a result, so has Clemons’ future in the DC cinematic universe: The Hollywood Reporter notes Clemons will now reprise the role in the upcoming Flash standalone movie.

Fans’ negative reaction to Whedon’s version of Justice League — and its poor box office performance — led to the viral campaign #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. Warner Bros. eventually agreed to invest millions into bringing Snyder’s original vision to life.  Dubbed Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the four-hour, two-minute-long opus debuts on HBO Max on March 18.

It reboot series director Andy Muschietti will bring Flash to the big screen November 4, 2022.

'Harry Potter' series veteran Katie Leung said she was told to deny "racist" attacks from online fans

Dave Benett/Getty Images(LONDON) —  Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Order of the PhoenixThe Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and 2 is opening up about alleged racists comments aimed at her while she was working on the franchise.

On an episode of the podcast Chinese Chippy Girl, Leung says she was 16 when she was first cast in Goblet of Fire, and soon experienced the attacks.

“I was Googling myself at one point, and I was on this website, which was kind of dedicated to the hardcore Harry Potter fandom….And, yeah, it was a lot of racist sh**,” she says.

Leung, now 33, said it “really affected” her. She recalled, “Because I’m 16, I’m a teenager, I care what people in school think of me, let alone what the world thinks!”

Leung said she was unprepared for that kind of flak. Making matters worse was the response from her representatives at the time. “I remember them saying, ‘Oh, look Katie, we haven’t seen these, these websites that people are talking about. And you know, if you get asked that, just say…it’s not happening.”

“And I just nodded my head. I was like, ‘Okay, okay,’ even though I had seen it myself with my own eyes. I was like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’ll just say everything’s great.'”

The Scottish actor of Chinese descent explained, “I was really f**king grateful that I was in the position I was in. I keep saying, ‘Oh I wish I’d maybe said something.’ But you can’t do that.”

Leung didn’t specify if the publicists with whom she was working at the time were hers or provided by Warner Bros., explains Variety, to which Warner Bros. reportedly refused comment.
