"The OxiClean Guy" Anthony Sullivan and 'Survivor' winner, cancer survivor Ethan Zohn become 'Kings of Kush'

No Comments Entertainment News

L-R – Zohn, Sullivan – VICE TV(NEW YORK) — Anthony Sullivan — you may know him as the OxiClean pitchman — and Ethan Zohn, the winner of Survivor: Africa and a two-time cancer survivor, have teamed up for a new reality show called Kings of Kush

Produced by Deadliest Catch‘s Thom Beers, the Vice TV series chronicles the pair’s development of a 50-acre Vermont hemp farm, MONTKUSH, to create CBD products, the cannabinoid compound that touched both of their lives.

For Sullivan, his 10-year-old daughter, Dylan, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder, was his inspiration. He tells ABC Audio he sought an alternative for an anti-seizure medication she was prescribed.

“The side effects were terrible,” Sullivan said “She lost 20 percent of her body weight. Her classmates had to put a bed in her classroom. But most of all…her whole personality just vanished.”

When his wife suggested CBD, Sullivan said, “I didn’t know anything about it….[M]y reaction was, ‘I don’t really want my seven year old to be stoned.’ That’s how ignorant I was of the whole thing.”

Instead, he undertook a massive research effort and contacted his old pal Zohn, who had CBD experience.

“I leaned on cannabis to help mitigate the side effects of cancer treatments — radiation, stem cell transplants, chemo, all that stuff,” Zohn confessed.  “And then once I was in remission…I got hung up on a lot of anxiety and stress and fear of relapse until someone introduced me to CBD.”

“It was like I could finally take a deep breath,” Zohn declared.

Sullivan agrees, saying of his daughter now, “She’s doing great.”

Their venture begs the question: Can OxiClean get out hemp oil stains?

“It does!” Sully laughs.

Kings of Kush airs tonight on Vice TV at 10 p.m. Eastern.

To remind you of the office, and 'The Office', JELL-O creates Stapler Mold Prank Kit

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy JELL-O(NEW YORK) — To commemorate a year since most people have been in their offices — and the March 24th anniversary of the NBC’s debut of The Office — JELL-O has created a kit that lets you mimic one of the show’s iconic desk gags.

That’s right, the gelatin dessert company’s Stapler Mold Prank Kit comes with everything you need to recreate Jim’s suspending Dwight’s stapler inside a JELL-O dome — except this one when built is completely edible, “stapler” and all.

A mix of lemon and black cherry JELL-O, and a special two-part mold contraption completes the illusion.

You can’t buy the mold in stores, but the company is giving them away — plus each winner will get $60 to put towards, well, whatever you want, but likely a subscription to NBC’s Peacock, the new streaming home of the beloved sitcom.

Head on over to jellomoldprank.com/Home/EntryForm to enter. Don’t forget, April Fool’s Day is right around the corner.

'One Night in Miami' star Leslie Odom Jr. says director Regina King's "trust" in him gave him the freedom to become Sam Cooke

No Comments Entertainment News

Patti Perret/Amazon Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Academy Award nominee Leslie Odom Jr. is crediting One Night in Miami director Regina King for his stunning transformation into legendary singer Sam Cooke.

“There was so much trust. [Regina] really felt like she had the right man for the job,” Odom Jr. told ABC Audio prior to his Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. “She saw something in me long before I saw it in myself.”

The actor, who also received a Best Original Song Oscar nod for his record “Speak Now,” says King’s experience as an accomplished actor also gave her a certain “sensitivity” as a director.

“In her own way behind the camera she was living it with us,” Odom Jr. explains. “She was bringing her exceptional sensitivity. And that nose for truth as an actress. She was playing all the guys right along with us.”

The Hamilton star also acknowledges and praises King’s direction, which he admits made him a better actor.

“Whenever she came to give me a thought or a suggestion in my ear, [that] always sent me down a path that made sense to me because it was based off of what she was seeing,” Odom Jr. says. ” But it always sent me down a path that was more truthful, more entertaining, sometimes funnier.”

“And she just really kept a nice eye on all those moments and made it cohesive and the little miracle that it is,” he smiles.

One Night in Miami is available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Meanwhile, the 93rd Academy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on April 25 and the virtual ceremony will air live on ABC.

Gwyneth Paltrow opens up about receiving anti-wrinkle injectables to break down "stigma around injections"

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that she relies on outside help to achieve her picture-perfect good looks.  The Iron Man star said that she has no shame admitting that she uses anti-wrinkle injections.

Says the Goop guru in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she hopes more women will be more open about their beauty secrets.

“By getting injectables, it’s like admitting a vulnerability. I think sometimes honesty is perceived to be a weakness,” the 48-year-old Paltrow expressed. “There does seem to be a lot of stigma around injections.”

The actress continued that, by acting as “an open book,” she can help relax the stigma around plastic surgery or other anti-aging treatments.

“It’s nice when women share,” Paltrow encouraged. “There’s a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers, and it would be nice if people felt confident about the choices they were making.”

She continued, “If they want to have a beauty secret, that’s okay, too.  I’m an open book, I’ve shared what works for me, because that’s how I’ve always learned.

Paltrow also explained the importance of doing research before opting for any type of treatment.

“I had a midlife crisis when I turned 40, and I went to go see this doctor. It was a disaster,” she confessed, stressing the importance of one knowing what they’re walking into.  “I was bruised, my forehead was completely frozen, and I didn’t look like myself at all.”

She also applauded the younger generations who honor actresses like Jane Fonda and Frances McDormand for their merit and not just for their looks.

“They look at the whole woman, instead of some super-airbrushed, FaceTuned Instagram photo,” she smiled. “I like the trend I’m seeing.”

Paltrow is the new spokesperson of Xeomin, an anti-wrinkle injectable.
