Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp made her fear for her life

No Comments Entertainment News

Jason Merritt/Getty Image(LOS ANGELES) — Amber Heard took the stand on Monday in Johnny Depp’s libel case against the British tabloid The Sun and continued to make claims against her ex-husband.

One of the accusations Heard made towards the Pirates of the Caribbean star was that she was often subjected to “punching, slapping, kicking, head-butting and choking” during their relationship. She even claimed that there were instances that caused her to fear for her life.

The 34-year-old actress also addressed allegations she made in a written statement that was submitted to the court. According to E! News, who obtained the statement, Heard said that Depp, “accused me of having affairs with each of my co-stars, movie after movie: Eddie Redmayne, James Franco, Jim Sturgess, Kevin Costner, Liam Hemsworth, Billy-Bob Thornton, Channing Tatum; even women co-stars like Kelly Garner.”

“He also accused me of having affairs with stars I auditioned with, like Leonardo DiCaprio. He would taunt me about it—especially when he was drunk or high—and had derogatory nicknames for every one of my male co-stars he considered a sexual threat,” she claimed. “For example, Leonardo DiCaprio was ‘pumpkin-head’, Channing Tatum was ‘potato-head’ and ‘Jim Turd Sturgess’.”

A rep told E! News, “This is complete nonsense and absolutely untrue.”

Heard is due to back in court Tuesday.

Nick Cannon teases conversation with Rabbi on an upcoming episode of his podcast

No Comments Entertainment News

Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Nick Cannon took to Instagram on Monday to share part of a conversation with a Rabbi he plans to air on an upcoming episode of his podcast and YouTube series Cannon’s Class.

“I made a lot of people mad,” The Masked Singer host tells Rabbi Abraham Cooper in the clip. “[I made] your community mad, I made my community mad by apologizing.”

Cooper interrupts by saying that the question his community asks regarding Cannon’s apology is whether it’s sincere.  Cannon then asks the Rabbi if he believes that he’s being sincere, to which Cooper replies, “At this point, yes.”

“Hate,” says Cannon, is “an energy,” adding that he “doesn’t have a hatred for any group of people…specifically the Jewish people,” because he feels a connection between the two communities.

Cannon has been facing serious backlash following anti-Semitic comments he made during a June episode of Cannon’s Class.

Cannon gave no indication of when the episode will air, aside from the caption, “Coming soon…”

Live from New York? 'Saturday Night Live' reportedly eyeing cast's return post-pandemic

No Comments Entertainment News

NBCUniversal(NEW YORK) — With Jimmy Fallon and his house band The Roots bringing The Tonight Show back to Rockefeller Center last week for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown, The Hollywood Reporter says Saturday Night Live could be next.

The show’s famous Studio 8H has been dark since its last live broadcast, when Daniel Craig hosted on March 7 to promote his newest James Bond film No Time To Die, which itself was shelved due to the pandemic. The cast created three “At Home” episodes since then, featuring remote-shot segments and musical performances.

The trade reports a possible return might follow The Tonight Show‘s suit: limited cast and crew but no audience, and a more socially-distanced set. Like The Tonight Show‘s current interviews, live video segments could also come to the fore, and SNL‘s “At Home” episodes proved remote sketches can fill the gap.

THR notes that there’s no date for the show to return, but states that the upcoming presidential election would be a natural fit for new content.

Alex Trebek opens up on his battle with cancer, and new memoir

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — Since Alex Trebek first announced in March that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, he says he’s had good and bad days.

But these days, things are looking up for the Jeopardy! game show host, who’s releasing a memoir.

“I’ve received so many expressions of love and so many prayers said on my behalf…I thought, ‘Well, maybe… the people would care to learn something about me,'” Trebek told ABC’s Good Morning America.

As for those good and bad days, Trebek shares, “There was one day a few weeks ago when Jeanie [Trebek’s wife, Jean Trebek] asked me in the morning, ‘How do you feel?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I wanna die.’ It was that bad,” said Trebek.

“She’s a saint,” said Trebek, choking up while describing his wife of 30 years.

Trebek also got candid about how often difficult moments come up, both at home and at work.

“I’m good at faking it,” he said. “And I don’t know what it is, but when it’s time to go, it’s time to go…Get out there, suck it up, make it happen.”

He adds, “I suddenly wake up and I’m able to perform and handle the show because I like it. It’s a good job.”

Trebek, who turns 80 Wednesday, has been hosting Jeopardy! for 36 years, and still has no plans to stop.

“My doctor has told me that he is counting on me celebrating two years of — survivorship past the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. And that…happens in February,” said Trebek. “So I expect to be around ’cause he said I will be around. And I expect to be hosting the show if I am around.”

Trebek’s memoir, titled The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life, will be out tomorrow.

Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' delayed again in U.S.; could open overseas first

No Comments Entertainment News

Melinda Sue Gordon; ©2020 Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. All Rights Reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — Director Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, once held by many as a last hope for a summer 2020 theatrical movie season, has finally waved the white flag.

With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of relenting in the U.S., Warner Bros. has pulled the movie from its August 12 berth, Variety reports.

“We will share a new 2020 release date imminently,” said Warner Bros. chairman Toby Emmerich in a statement. “Our goals throughout this process have been to ensure the highest odds of success for our films while also being ready to support our theater partners with new content as soon as they could safely reopen.”

The time-bending thriller, which stars John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, had already been bumped twice as the COVID-19 crisis spread across the country and all the world.

Movie theaters remain closed in many areas of the U.S., but even in those states that had begun to relax their pandemic rules, the coronavirus continues to keep crowds away. Theaters in New York and Los Angeles, the country’s two largest movie markets, remain closed.

However, Variety notes that Warner Bros. is considering releasing Tenet first in foreign markets, many of which have begun reopening their theaters.
