Pixar living la dolce vita with forthcoming film 'Luca'

No Comments Entertainment News

Disney/Pixar(LOS ANGELES) — Pixar Animation Studios announced today that its next feature film release will be called Luca, a picturesque adventure set in the Italian Riviera.

The film will be directed by Oscar-nominated director Enrico Casarosa, and will center on the title character, a young boy living his best life in the postcard-perfect place.

According to a press release, the animated film “is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides.”

The release hints all isn’t as it seems, however: “Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.”

Casarosa says, “This is a deeply personal story for me, not only because it’s set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the core of this film is a celebration of friendship. Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become…So in addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian seaside, our film will feature an unforgettable summer adventure that will fundamentally change Luca.”

Pixar‘s next film to hit theaters is Soul, starring the voices of Hamilton‘s Daveed Diggs and Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx. The movie was bumped from its June 19 release date to November 20 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luca is set to open in U.S. theaters June 18, 2021. Pixar is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

Demi Moore says she changed herself to fit relationships

No Comments Entertainment News

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Demi Moore has learned a lot during her 57 years of life — one of those things being how to heal after a breakup.

The Ghost actress recently appeared as a guest on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show and got candid when asked about healing after failed marriages, according to People

Moore, who was previously married to Ashton Kutcher, Bruce Willis, and Freddy Moore, explained, “I think it’s a process of, not to sound cliche, but it’s really a process of learning to love yourself, accepting who you are just as you are.”

“For me, I changed myself over and over to fit what I thought somebody else wanted,” she admitted.

The mother of three added that, despite the demise of her marriages, “Working through a relationship is really commendable in our disposable times. To go through the journey of really honoring the love that brought you together in the first place, and to really give it all you’ve got, but you can’t do that without that love and acceptance of yourself.”

Seth Rogen says he was "fed a huge amount of lies about Israel"

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — (NOTE LANGUAGE) Seth Rogen got really candid during a guest appearance on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron earlier this week.

During the episode, Rogen, who was on the podcast to promote his new dramedy An American Pickle, opened up about his experience as a Jewish man, specially what he was taught about Israel and Palestine.

“[As] a Jewish person I was fed a huge amount of lies about Israel my entire life,” he said. “They never tell you, that oh by the way, there were people there. They make it seem like it was just sitting there, oh the f****** door’s open!”

One thing the 38-year-old actor feels he wasn’t lied about though is antisemitism.

“I remember my dad frankly telling me, ‘People hate Jews. Just be aware of that. They just do.’ And it’s honestly something that I am so glad was instilled in me from a young age. Because if it wasn’t, I would constantly be shocked at how much motherf****** hate Jews,” he explained.

ABC News/Steve Iervolino(LOS ANGELES) — Sometime soon, Dancing with the Stars will return for its 29th season, but not without some major changes.  Most noticeably, there will be a new host this season, Tyra Banks.

The America’s Next Top Model creator revealed to Us Weekly how she feels about taking over for longtime host Tom Bergeron and summed it up in one simple word, “Pressure!”

However, she’s not sweating it and touched upon what she intends to bring to the dance floor when the series premieres later this fall on ABC.

“My goal is for a 12-year-old to be sitting on the couch with their parents and grandparents and everybody can relate personally to what they see on that screen,” said Banks.

However, when Us tried squeezing more information out of the former supermodel, Tyra refused to budge.

“Not giving up the goods,” the 46-year-old chided. “You’ll have to tune in!”

Tyra won’t only serve as the show’s first solo-host, she will be pulling double duty as the new executive producer of DWTS

She previously revealed that she’s been a longtime fan of the show, saying in a press release that “the fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances” is what made her a fan from the very start.

Dylan McDermott: first Emmy nomination in over two decades "sweeter" this time

No Comments Entertainment News

Gary Gershoff/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — 21 years after his last nomination, Dylan McDermott is back in the Emmys mix, with a nod on Tuesday for playing Ernie West, the man at the center of a gas station sex ring in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series Hollywood, and this time, he appreciates it even more.

“I think this time around is even sweeter because, because, you know…how many great shows there are, how time passes you by sometimes,” says McDermott, whose last nomination came in 1999 for his starring role in The Practice, tells ABC Audio.  “And, you know, it takes a long time to get back here. I mean, it took me 20 something years, 21 years to get back here, so I know how hard it is now.  Back then I thought, oh, yeah. Every year.”

This year’s Emmys will be a virtual event, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and though McDermott’s not sure what it will look like, he’s confident they’ll figure it out.

“I feel sad that we’re in this position, but nonetheless, I’m really thrilled that we as humans are able to adapt to anything,” says the 58-year-old actor.  “We just make it work. And we will make this work.”

Adds McDermott, 2020 is going to be one of those years “we talk about for a long, long while.”

Hollywood is a limited series, which, in theory, means it won’t be coming back, but McDermott tells ABC, “I hope there’s a season two,” while cautioning, “I think we would kind of, like, we really do have to kind of wait for a vaccine.”

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards telecast is still scheduled for September 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
