"My marriage was over": Gwyneth Paltrow recalls her "conscious uncoupling" from Chris Martin

No Comments Entertainment News

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for J/P Haitian Relief Organization(LONDON) — Six years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow — the actress and lifestyle guru who made very personal-smelling candles famous — famously described her split from Coldplay’s Chris Martin as a “conscious uncoupling.”

In a new feature in British Vogue, Paltrow looks back at when she knew their 2003 marriage was done, and how the couple’s unique relationship has progressed since.

She explained she knew they were done on a 38th birthday trip to Tuscany, “I don’t recall when it happened, exactly. But I knew — despite long walks and longer lie-ins, big glasses of Barolo and hands held — my marriage was over.”

Paltrow recalled that “it felt almost involuntary, like the ring of a bell…cannot be undone…I tried to…push it far down….But I knew it. It was in my bones.”

As for what came next, the actress said, “I started to wonder, as impossible as it sounded, whether there was a way we could continue to feel the structure of our family on some level. Could we…still eat meals together? Vacation, even? Could we find levity and laugh?”

Paltrow says, “I had never heard of the phrase ‘conscious uncoupling.’ Frankly, the term sounded a bit full of itself, painfully progressive and hard to swallow…”

Turns out, the public felt the same way. “I never could have anticipated what came next,” Paltrow said. “The public’s surprise gave way quickly to…a strange combination of mockery and anger…”

But six years on, Paltrow now says the world has caught up. “Instead of people approaching me with, ‘Why did you say that?,’ they now approach me with, ‘How do you do that?'”

The uncoupled pair co-parent their two children: daughter Apple Martin, 16, and son Moses, 14.

In 2018, Paltrow married TV writer and producer Brad Falchuk.

Bryan Cranston said he'd play Walter White again in 'Better Call Saul' "in a second"

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — Fans of Breaking Bad have been champing at the bit to see Walter White appear in his show’s Emmy-winning prequel spin-off, Better Call Saul, since its first episode.

One of those fans is apparently Walter White himself, Bryan Cranston. The Emmy winner makes it plain in a new interview with Collider that he’d “do it in a second.”

“I would be in it if Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, who are co-executive producers on it, wanted me to be in it,” Cranston says. “I would do it in a second. But it hasn’t happened yet, I can tell you, and we’ll see. I don’t know. There’s one more season to go and we’ll see what happens!”

The actor also expressed that he’s still very interested in getting behind the camera for Better Call Saul.

“I have been asked to direct an episode every single season and it just didn’t work out because of a commitment to doing a play or doing a movie or something, so I wasn’t able to section out the times available,” Cranston declared. “But I do love the show. I think it’s a fantastic show.”

Bryan Cranston will be seen next on August 14 in the Disney+ movie The One and Only Ivan.

The 'Edward Scissorhands' house is up for sale and could be yours for $224,000

Photo by 20th Century-Fox/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Fans of Edward Scissorhands can get their hands on an important piece of Hollywood history: the house famously seen in the 1990 movie has hit the market.

Tampa Bay Times reports that the residence, which served as the Boggs family home, is currently listed at $224,000. The three bedroom, two bathroom house, which was built just months before Edward Scissorhands started filming, is located at 1774 Tinsmith Circle in Lutz, Florida.

A few things are different about the iconic property, as fans will notice that the house is no longer painted pastel blue and instead sports tan vinyl siding.  In addition, the interior of the 1,432-square-foot home has been extensively remodeled since the movie came out 30 years ago.

However, the original kitchen cabinets and countertops remain in tact as they are original to the house.

The realtor representing the property, Stacie Savoy says the listing went up last week and, since then, she’s been inundated with calls from interested parties.

“Everybody seems to be happy about it,” she told the Times.

Edward Scissorhands, which was directed by Tim Burton, starred Johnny Depp as an artificial man whose creator dies before his scissor-like hands could be replaced with a real set.  He is then taken in by the Boggs family, where he falls in love with their daughter, Kim, played by Winona Ryder.

The home featured several memorable scenes, such as the neighborhood barbecue that took place in the backyard, the same place where Edward used his sharp fingers to carve up the bushes to look like dinosaurs.

Jussie Smollett's sister Jurnee defends his innocence in Chicago assault claim

No Comments Entertainment News

Leon Bennett/Getty Images for Essence(NOTE LANGUAGE) Jussie Smollett’s sister, Jurnee, for the first time publicly, addressed the ongoing investigation into whether her brother paid two men to stage an attack against him in January 2019, and staunchly defended the Empire actor.

“It’s been f****** painful…one of the most painful things my family’s ever experienced — to love someone as much as we love my brother, and to watch someone who you love that much go through something like this, that is so public, has been devastating,” the actress who stars in Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams’ HBO series Lovecraft Country told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Wednesday.

“I was already in a very dark space for a number of reasons, and I’ve tried to not let it make me pessimistic,” she continued.  “But everyone who knows me knows that I love my brother and I believe my brother.”

Jussie, 37, is being sued by the city of Chicago for $130,000 to recoup the costs of doing an investigation for what authorities believe was staged attack on the actor.  He was previously charged for the alleged fake hate crime, however, those charges were dropped before he was then hit with a six-count indictment claiming that he lied to police.

Despite the city’s claim, Smollett’s attorney remained steadfast that he was truthful, adding, “the City and CPD knew Mr. Smollett was innocent, and that the City has relentlessly pursued Mr. Smollett even after the charges against Mr. Smollett were dismissed.”
