Director confirms R-rated version of 'Mrs. Doubtfire' exists: "It was outrageously funny material"

No Comments Entertainment News

VINCE BUCCI/AFP via Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — A rated-R version of Mrs. Doubtfire is not an urban legend after all.  The movie’s director, Chris Columbus, confirmed the shocking news in a recent interview.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Columbus says the only reason that an adult version Mrs. Doubtfire exists is because the movie’s star, the late Robin Williams, cracked one too many jokes her had to leave on the cutting room floor.

The director furthered that multiple versions of the 1993 film exist, all due to Williams’ penchant for improv.

“There was a deal between Robin and myself, which was, he’ll do one or two, three scripted takes. And then he would say, ‘Then let me play,'” Columbus reflected. “And we would basically go on anywhere between 15 to 22 takes, I think 22 being the most I remember.”

The director said the gifted comedian would come up with a new version of the scene with each take, with some lines being more risqué than others.

“He would sometimes go into territory that wouldn’t be appropriate for a PG-13 movie, but certainly appropriate and hilariously funny for an R-rated film,” he laughed, estimating that “three or four versions of the film” exist because of the reshoots.

“I would be open to maybe doing a documentary about the making of the film, and enabling people to see certain scenes re-edited in an R-rated version,” Columbus winked and expressed openness to getting that footage out of the vault.

“The problem is, I don’t recall most of it. I only know what’s in the movie at this point because it’s been a long time,” he confessed. “But I do remember it was outrageously funny material.”

However, before #ReleaseTheColumbusCut starts trending, a la Justice League‘s recent fan-spurred “Snyder Cut” rebirth, Columbus maintains the theatrical version of the movie is “the definitive cut,” which he says he’s “very proud of.”

Photo by NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images(PENNSYLVANIA) — Killing Eve star Sandra Oh lent her voice to a “Stop Asian Hate” protest in Pittsburgh on Saturday, following a deadly shooting spree at three Atlanta-area spas that claimed the lives of eight people.

“Pittsburgh, I am so happy and proud to be here with you, and thank you to all the organizers for organizing this just to give us an opportunity to be together and to stand together and to feel each other,” said Oh, speaking to a masked crowd in a video posted by radio station KDKA.  “For many of us in our community, this is the first time we are even able to voice our fear and our anger, and I really am so grateful to everyone willing to listen.”

“I know many of us in our community are very scared,” the 49-year-old actress continued. “And I understand that. And one way to get through our fear is to reach out to our communities. I will challenge everyone here, if you see something will you help me?”

Oh went on to lead the protesters in chants saying, “I am proud to be Asian.”

Oh addressed the deadly Atlanta shooting in a statement Thursday on Instagram, writing, “I send loving kindness and support to the families of the eight souls murdered in Georgia on March 16. And to all the victims of racist violence.”

“I am devastated and profoundly angry. I know many of you are scared but let us not be afraid,” she added, along with the hashtag, “#itsanhonorjusttobeasian.

'The Talk' reportedly goes on hiatus "indefinitely" following race flap

No Comments Entertainment News

Monty Brinton/CBS @2021 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — The Talk hiatus has been extended indefinitely in the wake of racial allegations centering on co-host Sharon Osbourme, according to Deadline is reporting.

The show was originally put on hiatus for two days last Sunday, and then extended until Tuesday, March 22. Now, CBS says the show will be on hold at least through next week, the trade reports.

The hiatus stems from a network investigation into the heated exchange about race related to Piers Morgan and his statements about Meghan Markle, between co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood during the March 10 episode.

Osbourne apologized for the exchange via Twitter, and accused the producers deliberately orchestrated the on-air row.

Last week, Osbourne denied she’s a racist, telling Entertainment Tonight that she’d reached out to Underwood, but as of that point she hadn’t responded. “I can understand,” she said. “Sheryl needs her time.”

The conversation with ET came as former co-host Leah Remini leveled new accusations against Osbourne, claiming she used gay slurs regarding former co-host Sara Gilbert’s sexuality, and made bigoted comments about former co-host Julie Chen, who is Asian.

Holly Robinson Peete, an original host of the show, retweeted a 2011 video where the British personality told Remini on air that she was “ghetto” because of the way she spoke.

"American Idol" recap: Hollywood Week is here!

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — It’s Hollywood Week at American Idol and, to kick it off, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan joined together with their first ever group performance.

For the first time in four seasons together on the series, the trio collaborated for an engaging rendition of The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.” Afterwards, it was time to get down to business and start narrowing down the search to find the next big star.

For this next step in the competition, the singing hopefuls were split into groups by their genres — pop, country, soul, indie/folk, R&B, and rock. Each genre was split into small groups, where each person performed solo in front of the judges. After each person in the small group performed, they gathered together on the stage to find out their fate.

Notably making it through to the next round after singing “River” by Bishop Briggs was Claudia Conway, daughter of George and Kellyanne Conway — the latter of whom joined her for support. She made her way to the stage with a newfound confidence and a new look — rocking black hair instead of the blonde audiences last saw her with — which Katy noticed right off the bat.

Willie Spence, who went viral in 2017 for his cover of Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” also lived on to sing another day after mesmerizing the judges by singing “All Of Me” by John Legend.

While some naturally were disappointed about not making it to the next round, Erika Perry — no relation to Katy — didn’t bow out gracefully.

After the judges decided to end her journey, she fell into a downward spiral where, as she made her way off-stage, she asked the judges multiple times, “Are you sure?” She continued to throw a temper tantrum in the lobby which inevitably confirmed her greatest fear — becoming the laughing stock of her ex-boyfriend and his friends back home.

The next challenge of Hollywood Week will be duets, where Katy, Lionel, and Luke will choose the pairs.

Here’s the results of each genre.
