Chevy Chase recovering at home after "heart issue" hospitalizes him for five weeks

No Comments Entertainment News

Jean Baptiste Lacroix/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — (NOTE LANGUAGE) After spending five weeks at the hospital for a “heart issue,” actor Chevy Chase is recuperating at home.

The National Lampoon’s Vacation star confirmed to Page Six on Monday that he is back home at his residence in Westchester, New York.

“These are my first few days home. I can only say how happy I am to now be back with my family. I’m feeling good,” Chase, 77, explained. “I was in the hospital five weeks. A heart issue.”

The Emmy Award-winning comedian added that he will be staying put for awhile and will be spending all his time “around the house” and “not going anywhere.”

Says Chase, he doesn’t want to tangle with the ongoing pandemic.

“I used to go out and do anything. I’d do slapstick in front of 3,000 people. But at this moment I have no need to go out and meet COVID,” the Caddyshack star expressed before confessing that he is not exactly happy to be confined to his house.

“I read. Turn on TV. Watch the news. All drek,” said Chase, who gave a blunt review of the current state of entertainment and comedy.

“I see actors, comedians, producers, screenwriters working and, God bless them, but I don’t see anything great on television,” he lamented. ” It all became a generation of [morons] laughing at the world.”

Adds the Golden Globe nominee, “The humor today’s giving the next generation worse stuff than they already have in their own lives. It drives me nuts.”

While Chase did not go into detail about his heart condition, this isn’t the first time the comedian had a medical emergency.

While filming Modern Problems in 1981, he was electrocuted when the lights attached to his body for a dream sequence short-circuited.

"American Idol" recap: Claudia Conway takes a bow, another contestant scarily face plants

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Eric McCandless(HOLLYWOOD) — It was Day 2 of Hollywood Week on Monday’s episode of American Idol, which means it was time for the singers to pair up. Instead of them choosing their own partners though, the twist was that judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan would be doing the pairing.

While some contestants were happy about who the judges picked for their duet partner, others were not — like Claudia Conway and Hannah Everhart. These two ladies had a hard time getting their act together, especially when at one point Claudia had to go looking for Hannah. Eventually, they were able to put together a duet of  Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times,” which unfortunately didn’t really impress the judges. Claudia’s journey would end here but, luckily for Hannah, they saw something in her and let her through to the next round.

Ronda Felton and Funke Lagoke also gave a lackluster performance as they attempted to steal the hearts of the judges and audiences with their rendition of Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion’s “Tell Him.” However, unlike Claudia and Hannah, both of these ladies made it through — but not before giving the judges and audiences a major scare.

While Lionel was giving feedback to Funke, the American Idol hopeful fainted and face planted onto the stage resulting in a busted chin and a trip to the hospital — but hey, she made it though to sing another day.

'Promising Young Woman' Oscar nominated director Emerald Fennell conjuring script for DC Comics character Zatanna

No Comments Entertainment News

Fennell directing Carey Mulligan on the set of “Promising Young Woman”/Focus Features(LOS ANGELES) — After making Oscar history by being the only woman nominated in the Best Director category for a directorial debut, Promising Young Woman‘s Emerald Fennell’s next trick will be to bring a magical comics heroine to life.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Fennell will write the script for Zatanna, a feature based on the DC Comics character of the same name, a woman well versed in the magic arts. The film is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot company, which incidentally is developing an HBO Max series about another magic wielding character with whom Zatanna is sometimes paired in comics pages: John Constantine.

Zatanna Zatara first appeared in the pages of DC Comics in 1964. Her “day job” as a stage magician provides cover for her actual reality-bending abilities.

Her character has also appeared in a comic team-up series called Justice League Dark, which gathers DC’s heroes who deal in the supernatural and the occult, including Constantine.

"When you're old, you're old!" At 90, William Shatner says age isn't just a number

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC News/Stephen Iervolino(NEW YORK) — On this day in 1931, a legend was born: none other than William Shatner.

The Montreal native was already a veteran of the stage and small screen before 1966 when he donned the iconic gold uniform of James Tiberius Kirk, the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise on Star Trek, though it was a role with which he became synonymous long after Trek’s “five year mission” was canceled after three years by CBS.

He went on to voice Kirk in Star Trek: The Animated Series that followed, and in six big-screen films, one of which, Star Trek: V: The Undiscovered Country, he directed.

Shatner also lent his pipes to cult classic albums, most notably 1968’s The Transformed Man, in which he coined his particular style of talk-singing classics like “Mr. Tambourine Man“, saw small-screen success again as an L.A. cop in T.J. Hooker, written books, and had appearances on the big and small screen too numerous to mention.

As he rounded his 90th trip around the sun — in real life, not as Kirk — Shatner has been extremely busy; he recently told ABC Audio that he’d cut two albums, launched a podcast, shot his latest hit show The Unexplained for the History Channel, developed a book review project, and promoted his latest film, Senior Moment, all while in quarantine.

Incidentally, his character in that film is in denial about his age, until he learns you’re only as old as you feel. “And it’s ridiculous! Shatner bellowed to ABC Audio, laughing. You’re old! When you’re old you’re old! False information is being spread at him. When you’re 90, you’re 90!”

Witney Carson details struggle to embrace post-pregnancy figure: "I'm learning to celebrate my body"

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Kelsey McNeal(LOS ANGELES) — Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Witney Carson welcomed a son earlier this year and, 11 weeks later after giving birth, she’s says she’s learning to accept her body the way it is.

Carson, 27, took to Instagram over the weekend to show off her post-pregnancy body and explained that she is being kind to herself for not snapping right back into shape.

“Progress not perfection,” the Mirrorball Trophy winner captioned the slideshow. “Being a dancer growing up & even throughout adulthood (especially throughout adulthood) I’ve always been self [conscious] about my weight and how I looked. I’ve struggled with this & that’s why I was hesitant to post these photos.”

“I didn’t feel I looked a certain way, ‘good enough’ & that was a sad thought to me,” the DWTS alum expressed, saying she is not only working hard on her body, but also on her mind.

Added Carson, “I’m learning to celebrate my body the way it is now and celebrate the small successes to a HEALTHY body, spirit, and mind.”

Fellow DWTS moms Lindsay Arnold and Peta Murgaroyd left encouraging notes in the comment section, with Arnold gushing, “You are stunning wit and the best mama to little Leo.  He is so lucky to have you.”

“You look soooo FIRE,” added Murgatroyd.

DWTS competitor and fellow mom Nikki Bella, who is engaged to pro dancer Artem Chigvintsev, praised, “You look SO incredible! Amazing that that body not too long ago made and brought beautiful and healthy Leo into this world!”

The dance pro and husband Carson McAllister welcomed their first son on January 3, revealing they named him Kevin Leo.
