Frazer Harrison/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Of course, Brie Larson nailed her role as the titular character in the 2019 Captain Marvel, but the Oscar-winning actress admits she almost turned down the opportunity.

Larson has been sharing stories about her various auditions on her YouTube channel, and revealed that her initial response to being offered the part was panic.

“Oh, I can’t do that. I have too much anxiety. That’s too much for me. I don’t think I could handle that,” she recalls thinking at the time. “I’m too much of an introvert. That’s way too big of a thing for me.”

Brie says she was offered the role a second time several months later, but wasn’t sure she could handle the pressure of being part of such massive franchise.

Fortunately, Marvel wouldn’t take no for an answer, and after sitting down with the producers, she was “really moved” by the studio’s commitment to having as many female voices as possible involved in the film, from the director to the writers.

The 30-year-old actress says she walked out of the meeting ready to take on “a whole level of fame [she] never expected to participate in.” Larson adds that taking the role was a huge step toward more self-confidence.

Rich Polk/Getty Images for IMDb(LOS ANGELES) — Actress Jameela Jamil doesn’t know how some rumors start, but she’s always more than happy to set the record straight.  However, a recent claim concerning her and Meghan Markle has left The Good Place actress scratching her head.

Recently, British tabloids have begun circulating a story that Jamil and her boyfriend James Blake are quarantining with Markle and Prince Harry under the same roof.

The body positivity activist shot the reports down on Wednesday.  “Have seen 8 days of articles with increasingly ridiculous stories,” tweeted Jamil on Thursday, adding she’s only met Markle once. “None of which are consistent, none of which make sense.”

Then, in a separate post on Instagram, the Legendary host vented her frustrations over the treatment Markle received from the British press and how it’s now impacting other celebrities of color. 

“Since the first time I spoke out against the UK (mostly tabloid) media over their racist behavior towards [Meghan,] I’ve been subjected to press harassment,” Jamil revealed. “Now they are hyperbolizing some relationship they have decided I have with her to make it seem as if i am saying these things out of ‘loyalty’ rather than because it’s right to call out misogyny and racism when you see it.”

The actress hopes that, by speaking out about the issue, she can convince more people not to believe every negative headline they read concerning the Duchess of Sussex.

“She’s the symbol of hope and power to be deconstructed before any of us get any delusions of grandeur,” maintained Jamil. “It’s almost as if they don’t have something important to talk about… like a pandemic, global economic crisis, climate disaster, political unrest….”

Singer Demi Lovato reacted with frustration to Jamil’s statement and commented, “This is mind blowing”  before praising, “So proud of you for calling them out.”

Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for The Fragrance Foundation(LOS ANGELES) — If it’s true what they say, that the couple that laughs together, stays together, Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have a very promising future.

On Thursday, Dobrev, 31, took to Instagram to wish her snowboarder boyfriend, Shaun White, a happy 34th birthday in the form of a hilarious roast.

Alongside a snapshot of the couple, the Vampire Diaries alum wrote, “To the most untalented, humorless, least athletic, least coordinated, least gifted and least favorite person…. happy birthday @shaunwhite. hang in there. one day you will accomplish something. #dontgiveup.” 

With three Olympic medals, White is far from unaccomplished which makes it clear that Dobrev was simply joking around.

The couple’s relationship is fairly new as they have only been dating since March and, based on the post, they seem to still be going strong.

ABC(LOS ANGELES) — After exiting Dancing with the Stars after 15 years, Tom Bergeron is enjoying life in retirement by hazing the show’s new host Tyra Banks.

On Wednesday, the popular dance competition series unveiled a new promotional poster teasing the upcoming season, which features a closeup of Banks’ face — but has edited her lips to look like a disco ball.

Of course, that led to Bergeron poking fun at the poster by taking a playful jab at Banks.  

The Emmy Award nominee recreated the photo by taking a closeup selfie, but instead of editing his lips with the same disco ball texture, Bergeron simply lifted his own mini Mirror Ball trophy to cover the lower half of his face.

“This Just In: National Association of Lip Safety cautions against applying multiple small mirrors on mouth,” he tweeted Wednesday. “One bad chew and it’s 7 years of bad luck.”

He ended his teasing PSA with a blushing and winking face emoji.

Bergeron also quietly updated his Twitter bio, referring to himself as the “Former Co-Host of ‘Footwork With the Famous.'”  The 65-year-old admitted that he made the change “weeks ago” after fans took notice.

Dancing with the Stars returns for its 29th season starting September 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — Jane Fonda is letting fans in on some dirty little secrets.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, the 82-year-old actress sat in the hot seat for a quick game of “Confirm or Deny,” where she had to fess up to some juicy secrets concerning her old flames.

At the mention of Marlon Brando, whom she starred opposite of in the 1966 classic The Chase, Fonda confessed that she found the revered actor “disappointing,” but refused to describe their encounter any further.  Instead, she deflected and called him “a great actor.”

However, the two time Academy Award winner was more excited to talk about an encounter that she wishes had happened; getting it on with Marvin Gaye.

When asked by the interviewer if she had shared a romantic connection with Argentine Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, Fonda immediately shot the notion down, saying that she doesn’t even “think about him.” 

“Who I do think about, and what is a great regret is Marvin Gaye,” she sighed. “He wanted to and I didn’t.”

As for why the Grace & Frankie star put the kibosh on “Flyin’ High” with Gaye, Fonda said it was out of principal.  “I was married to Tom [Hayden,]” she explained.

While admitting that she was in need of some “sexual healing” from the Motown icon, she still kicks herself to this day for rejecting him.  “Apparently [Marvin] had my picture on his refrigerator,” continued Fonda. 

Fonda also dished on being taken under Marilyn Monroe’s wing. “She liked me,” Fonda recollected.  “I think she liked me because she sensed my insecurities and she was drawn to vulnerable things.”

Nowadays, Fonda admits no one “propositions” her anymore but is totally fine with that. “I’m not lonely,” she shrugged. “I’ve never been bored or lonely in my life.”
