Lindsay Lohan sued for $365K over advance on book she never delivered

No Comments Entertainment News

James Gourley/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Lindsay Lohan is in more hot water, this time with a publisher who’s suing the actress for nearly $400,000 — an advance on a proposed book it claims never got written.

LiLo and her company, Crossheart Productions, allegedly entered into a contract with HarperCollins back in 2014 for a book that was originally due a year later, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit obtained by the New York Post.

The Mean Girls star, as the suit claims, was given an advance of $365,000 but the manuscript never materialized, even after a two year extension.

Finally in 2018, the complaint alleges HarperCollins informed Lohan’s reps that they were terminating the contract and demanded she return the money.

“By failing to return the money to the Plaintiff upon the Defendants’ breach of the agreement, the Defendants have received a windfall and have been unjustly enriched,” the suit claims.

HarperCollins lawyer Jeffrey Maidenbaum tells the Post, “She did not turn in a manuscript and the book was never published.”

The troubled 34-year-old actress was slated to write a book on life, largely based on a journal she kept during her 2013 stint in rehab, according to the newspaper, which adds the book deal was said to be worth $1 million.

No Comments Entertainment News

Kevin Winter/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Jamie Foxx and his producing partner, Datari Turner, have signed a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to develop and produce feature films, reports Deadline.

On Wednesday, the Oscar winner took to Instagam to celebrate the deal, which features a currently untitled action thriller, also starring Foxx.

“My grandmother used to say that I would do great things with great people and inspire a generation. I know she’s looking down on me from heaven… saying, ‘I’m proud of you son… against all odds my little big head boy from Terrell, Texas done good!'” wrote Jamie. “With tears of joy running down my cheeks at this moment. I am humbled and grateful.”

Jamie went on to thank a few Sony executives, associates and team members, including Turner, whom he called “a rare gem…let’s go kill it all!”

Foxx can currently be seen in Netflix’s supercharged film, Project Power. Up next, he will executive produce and star in the father/daughter comedy series, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, which is based on his relationship with his oldest daughter, Corinne Foxx.

He also recently won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture at the NAACP Image Awards for his role in the legal drama Just Mercy

On Instagram, Turner said he was “blessed and humbled to be able to suit up daily with one of the greatest ‘in any era’ to ever do it” – Jamie Foxx.

Turner produced Netflix’s Uncorked, starring Courtney B. Vance and Niecy Nash and serves as an executive producer on WeTV’s Growing Up Hip Hop series.

"So fetch": Mariah Carey aces Tina Fey's 'Mean Girls' quiz

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy of Billboard(LOS ANGELES) — Mariah Carey proved Tina Fey right when she dubbed her “the world’s biggest Mean Girls fan” during a quiz about the movie hosted by Billboard.

Fey, the screenwriter behind the iconic teen comedy film, sat down with the iconic singer for a virtual quiz, testing Carey’s knowledge on all things Mean Girls.

Mariah wasn’t lying when she admitted that she watched the movie “literally every night” after its initial release — she passed the quiz with flying colors. She was able to name the nominees were for Spring Fling Queen, and to name the super-caloric protein bars Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady Heron convinces Rachel McAdams’ Regina George to eat.

Fans may also get to see MC in the upcoming reboot of the film. After she expressed frustration over the use of “Jingle Bell Rock” instead of her famed “All I Want For Christmas” in the talent show scene, Fey invited her to be a part of the reboot.

“I’m a little bit disappointed that they’re not dancing to my song,” Carey said, to which Fey responded, “We’re going to make another movie of it, so if you want to license us that song for the movie and also be in the movie, just say nothing now and we’ll consider it legally binding. Just laugh and it’ll be legally binding.”

Carey, donning an “M” necklace, a nod to Regina’s “R” and Cady’s “C” necklaces worn in the movie, stated that she “definitely” wants to be in the reboot, suggesting that she could play the friend of Amy Poehler’s character, June George, commonly known as Regina’s “cool mom.”

Mean Girls debuted in 2004. Fey announced in January that the Mean Girls musical on Broadway will be adapted into a film.

Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley film starring Tom Hanks to resume filming this month

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin (QUEENSLAND) — Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film about Elvis Presley will resume filming in Australia later this month.

Elvis, a biopic co-written and directed by Luhrmann, was in advanced pre-production in March when co-star Tom Hanks was diagnosed with COVID-19, halting production.

Hanks recently returned to Australia and is in mandatory quarantine for two weeks before filming resumes on September 23 in Queensland. He stars as Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker, opposite Austin Butler in the title role.

“We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, ‘taking care of business!'” Luhrmann says in a statement to Variety. “It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on Elvis.”

Hanks and his wife, actor and singer Rita Wilson, both contracted COVID-19 while in Australia in March. Hanks later described his symptoms as “crippling body aches” and fatigue, while Wilson experienced “severe nausea,” high fever and lost her sense of taste and smell.

Elvis is slated for release in late 2021.
