James Devaney/GC Images(LOS ANGELES) — It seems Oscar winner Russell Crowe and Zac Efron have replaced Viggo Mortensen and Dylan O’Brien, respectively, in a big screen beer run.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crowe and Efron will now topline the based-on-real-life book The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War, by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue.
The adventure follows Donohue’s real trip to Vietnam to share some brews with a couple of his friends who were enlisted to fight in the Vietnam War.
The trade notes that the mercurial Bill Murray is also rumored to play a role, which would have him reuniting with his Kingpin and Osmosis Jones director Peter Farrelly.
The film, which may end up on Apple TV Plus, will also reunite Oscar-winning Green Book director Farrelly with that movie’s Academy Award-winning screenwriter Brian Currie.
Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Marvel fans, rejoice! You’ll finally get to see Scarlett Johansson in action again as Natasha Romanoff on July 9. The pandemic-delayed stand-alone Black Widow film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ Premiere Access on that date.
The film was initially supposed to debut May 1, 2020, before it was bumped further in the year, and then ultimately moved to 2021 — but its debut date had remained a mystery to Marvel movie fans until now.
Marvel Studios’ parent company, Disney, made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, and also revealed that on May 28, the live-action 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella — starring Emma Stone in the title role — will get a theatrical/Disney+ Premiere Access debut.
Furthermore, it was announced that Disney/Pixar’s Luca will debut exclusively on Disney+ on June 18.
The announcement comes on the heels of the successful simultaneous theatrical/Premiere Plus releases of Disney’s Mulan last year, and recently, the animated Raya and the Last Dragon.
Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, said in a statement, “Today’s announcement reflects our focus on providing consumer choice and serving the evolving preferences of audiences.”
He added, “By leveraging a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic marketplace that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, we will continue to employ the best options to deliver The Walt Disney Company’s unparalleled storytelling to fans and families around the world.”
Disney is the parent company of ABC Audio & ABC News.
Carlos Tischler/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Anna Faris sat down with actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently, where the two ladies discussed their previous marriages and what divorce taught them.
In the newest Anna Faris IsUnqualified podcast episode, Faris, 44, opened up about ending her marriages with actor Chris Pratt and Ben Indra.
“My two other marriages were with actors and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness,” the House Bunny star explained. “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability.”
“Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn’t handle that very well, I don’t think,” the actress furthered. “I hope I’ve grown from that.”
Faris wed Indra in 2004 and divorced four years later. The actress then wed Pratt in 2009 and the two welcomed a son named Jack, who is now eight, before dissolving their marriage in 2018.
The two have since agreed to co-parent their son.
Pratt and Faris have since moved on, with Faris set to wed cinematographer Michael Barrett. As for the Guardians of the Galaxy star, he married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and, a year later, welcomed daughter Lyla Maria.
As for Faris’ podcast guest Paltrow, the Iron Man star reflected on her divorce from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, of whom she was married to for 13 years and share children Apple, 16, and Moses, 14/
“I really — for a long time — was choosing men and trying to work s***out with them that I had no business trying to do in a romantic relationship. It was work I needed to do myself,” noted Paltrow, 48. “In a divorce, I’ve learned so much from something I wanted least in the world.”
“I have learned more about myself through that process than I could have imagined,” added the Oscar winner, who has since wed producer Brad Falchuk.
Andrew Lipovsky/NBC(NEW YORK) — Just when you think there’s nothing left to reveal about clan Kardashian, comes this nugget courtesy of Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen: We’ve all been pronouncing Khloé Kardashian’s name wrong.
“It’s ‘Khloé” — pronounced Kloh-AY — Cohen revealed to Jimmy Fallon on Monday night’s installment of The Tonight Show. “There’s an accent!”
Turns out, it was a revelation for Fallon as well, one Cohen confirmed when preparing to interview the family for the documentary For Real: The Story of Reality TV.
Fallon was disbelieving, but Cohen insisted that Khloé’s mom Kris Jenner herself commended him for being the only one to get it right, like, ever.
For Real: The Story of Reality TV premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on E!
HBO Max/Warner Bros. Pictures(LOS ANGELES) — For the first time in six months, Cinemark’s Regal Cinemas chain will reopen, following shutdowns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deadline reports the nation’s second largest theater chain will start things off with a limited opening on April 2, with the release of Godzilla Vs. Kong, and will open more theaters across the country timed for the April 16 release of Mortal Kombat.
The trade further reports Regal has inked a deal with Warner Bros., the studio behind both films, to bring all of its 2021 titles to the big screen exclusively for 45 days.
WB announced earlier this year that its entire 2021 slate would simultaneously be released on theaters and HBO Max, including titles like The Suicide Squad and the upcoming Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark.
