The reboot of the classic ‘90s high school sitcom is arriving on NBC streaming service Peacock just in time for Thanksgiving. The new series debuts Wednesday, November 25.
In this new reimagining, Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Zack Morris is now the governor of California. He gets into hot water for shutting down too many low-income high schools, so he proposes to send students from the affected schools to the highest performing schools in the state, including his alma mater, Bayside High.
The new students give the privileged teens of Bayside High a “much-needed dose of reality.”
The new class features Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski’s son, Mac Morris, played by Mitchell Hoog, along with Belmont Cameli, Dexter Darden, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Josie Totah, and Haskiri Velazquez. John Michael Higgins plays Principal Toddman.
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Mario Lopez will also reprise their roles from the original series, as Jessie Spano and A.C. Slater, respectively. As revealed in a teaser trailer back in April, Slater is now Bayside High’s gym teacher.
David Livingston/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Naya Rivera’s sister, Nickayla, is focused on one thing right now and it’s not the rumors that she’s moved in with her sister’s ex, Ryan Dorsey.
On Monday evening, the 25-year-old model took to Instagram and seemingly responded to the ongoing speculation about her living situation. She did not outright confirm or deny the reports, but instead asked the public for “compassion.”
“In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends & family,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself.”
“I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure,” she continued. “What matters most I’ve learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others, & never take a moment of life for granted. I hope you all do the same.”
Rumors first sparked about Nickayla and Dorsey, 37, after pictures obtained by The Daily Mail showed the duo together on multiple different occasions including moving furniture and other belongings into a Los Angeles area rental home. Nickayla was reportedly moving in to help raise Naya and Dorsey’s five-year-old son Josey.
An eyewitness who saw them at Target told the outlet, “They seem really comfortable together and are obviously helping each other through a very difficult period in both their lives. They were fooling around and chatting the whole time. They’re obviously helping lift each other’s spirits.”
Naya tragically died from an accidental drowning in July after taking her son onto California’s Lake Piru. She was married to Dorsey from 2014-2018.
Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Actress Mandy Moore happily shared last week that she and husband Taylor Goldsmith were expecting their first child together. This week, the This Is Us star revealed her first trimester was riddled with challenges.
Opening up in a series of Instagram Stories on Monday, Moore, 36, openly spoke about the many difficulties she faced after learning she was pregnant.
First, she completely lost her appetite for coffee — which drew sympathetic comments from fellow moms about losing their love of the beverage.
Moore admitted that knowing she wasn’t alone made her feel better, but revealed that not being able to swallow coffee was just the first curveball her pregnancy threw at her.
“I had the worst food aversions. I still can’t think about some things or look at them in the fridge,” Moore grimaced, noting that her “first 15 weeks” were “really tough.”
Her food sensitivity became so heightened, the “Candy” singer revealed, “Poor Taylor. I was like, ‘Can you go outside and eat?'”
Moore added, “I can’t look at food, I can’t smell food, I can’t think about food,” without being overwhelmed by nausea.
While she says those challenges are merely a “small price to pay” for being pregnant, Moore admits she does miss her caffeine, confessing that “I used to dream about coffee before bed.”
“I’m fully accepting that my love of coffee will come back. And if not, it’s all good,” the Princess Diaries alum shrugged.
Moore and Goldsmith, who wed in November 2018, will welcome their baby boy in “early 2021.”
ABC/Heidi Gutman(NEW YORK) — Co-host of The View Meghan McCain and her husband, Ben Domenech, have welcomed their first child.
The daughter of late Senator John McCain gave birth to baby girl Liberty Sage McCain Domenech Monday evening, ABC News reports. Both mom and baby Liberty are healthy and doing well.
McCain, 36, and Domenech, 38, married in November, 2017 and announced their pregnancy on March 22.
“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” McCain wrote in her announcement on Instagram. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”
Her news came as the country grappled with the seriousness of the novel coronavirus outbreak. While in good health, McCain co-hosted The View via satellite under her doctors’ advice since March.
ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — Dancing with the Stars celebrated all things Disney when it returned Monday night with competitors paying homage to the happiest place on earth. There was plenty of magic in the air after two new competitors danced their way to the top of the scoreboard and earned the season’s first straight eights.
Despite surviving the bottom two last week, Carole Baskin — who was dressed like a lion for her samba to The Lion King‘s “Circle of Life” – was sent home by the judges after earning the night’s lowest score, a 12 out of 30. The Tiger King star was all smiles as she exited the ballroom floor for the last time, joking with host Tyra Banks that, “My husband is gonna be so happy I’m coming home.”
As for the night’s big shakeup on the leaderboard, Johnny Weir and Nev Schulman out-performed the rest of the competition with their mesmerizing routines and secured the highest scores of the season, 24 out of 30.
Weir’s powerful rumba to Mulan‘s “Reflection,” a song that deeply resonated with him and the struggle his family went through to help him achieve his Olympic dreams, brought judge Carrie Ann Inaba to tears. She, along with fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough, congratulated Weir for completing his transition from a world champion ice skater to an accomplished dancer.
Meanwhile, Catfish‘s Schulman dazzled with his Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Argentine tangoby not only embracing his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, but for even channeling the beloved pirate’s mannerisms with each step. The judges commended his ability to not only remain true to character, but for mastering the dance’s complicated foot movements and for sneaking in a few “appropriate” lifts.
One of the most welcome surprises of the night came from Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe, who happily announced she will be able to continue her DWTS journey. The reality star’s MRI results determined that she didn’t fracture her ankle, but that her injury was caused by tendonitis and shin splints.
She almost joined Weir and Schulman atop the leaderboard with her precise and graceful rumba to Moana‘s “How Far I Go,” but judge Hough regretfully had to deduct a point because she was dancing on her bare feet. The six-time DWTS champion explained to Bristowe that without a “Latin heel and Latin shoes,” she technically didn’t perform a real rumba.
The night’s biggest standout performance came from The Real‘s Jeanne Mai, whose romantic and smooth Viennese waltz to Up‘s “Married Life” won over the judges, who happily awarded her a new personal best score of 22/30. The talk show host also dedicated her adorable routine to future husband Jeezy, who celebrated turning 43 on Monday night.
Dancing with the Stars returns next Monday for another “exciting and emotional night of competition” at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
