Radha Blank says her film 'The Forty-Year-Old Version' explains why "self discovery can happen at any age"

No Comments Entertainment News

Jeong Park/Netflix(NEW YORK) — Radha Blank is sharing an important and meaningful experience in her new Netflix film The Forty-Year-Old Version.

As the writer, producer, director and star, Blank wanted to tell her own personal journey about approaching the milestone of 40, which she says has a stigma for women.

“When you get to 40… people just assume you’ve had a breakthrough or you’ve had your moment,” Blank, 44, tells ABC Audio. “Whether it’s about your career, or relationship, or an impact as an artist.”

“And here’s a person who is approaching 40 and that thing in her mind has not happened yet,” she continues. “And so she feels pressured.”

Blank says the film, which is based on her life, definitely hit close to home “especially with the death of her mother, who was also an artist.”

“It was personal in that I had lost my mother right after my 40th birthday,” she says. “And even though 40 represents being adult, I still really needed her. I still needed her guidance. There was so much I did not know about life.”

However, the loss of Blank’s mother didn’t stop her process nor her purpose. Instead, the creative is even more motivated in pursing her goals and “[hopes] people [realize] that you don’t age out of your passion.”

“I feel like when it comes to aging, that’s not something that we feel,” she says. “It’s something that the outside world kind of puts on you. That by 40, you will have a house, you’ll have a partner, you’ll have a kid, and that you know yourself. Whereas what I’m trying to say is that self discovery can happen at any age.”

The Forty-Year-Old Version is available on Netflix.

Kiss and tell: Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson reveal worst on-screen kisses

No Comments Entertainment News

Charley Gallay/Getty Images for InStyle(LOS ANGELES) — Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson did not hold back when it came to revealing their worst on-screen kisses.

During an episode of Paltrow’s Goop podcast this week, the two named names.

Hudson said Matthew McConaughey, her frequent co-star in films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fools’ Gold, was probably the worst, given the on-set circumstances when they filmed their kissing scenes.

“The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey, it’s like there’s just something happening and there’s like snot or wind,” she laughed. “When we were kissing in the end of Fool’s Gold, we’re like in the ocean, we had the plane crash. He just had snot all over his face.”

For Paltrow, she was less than thrilled with kissing her Iron Man and Avengers co-star, Robert Downey Jr.

“When I kissed him, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me, this is literally like kissing my brother,’” she admitted.

Hudson did give credit to her Almost Famous co-star Billy Crudup for being a “good kisser,” even though the scene got cut from the film.

Anne Heche calls Harrison Ford a “hero” for sticking up for her

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Kelsey McNeal(LOS ANGELES) — Anne Heche says Harrison Ford stuck up for her while she was dating Ellen DeGeneres.

During her stint guest hosting Entertainment Tonight Tuesday, the actress and former Dancing with the Stars contestant says she almost lost her role in the 1998 romantic action comedy Six Days Seven Nights because of the same-sex relationship, but co-star Ford had her back.

“I would not have gotten that movie,” she said. “He called me the day after they said I wasn’t gonna get it, because I took Ellen to the [Volcano] premiere, and Harrison Ford, he was a hero. He said, ‘Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn who you’re sleeping with. We’re gonna make the best romantic comedy there is and I’ll see ya on the set.'”

“He’s one of my heroes,” Heche declared. “He fought a battle for me and I would be on any desert island with him any day. He’s an extraordinary human being.”

Heche and DeGeneres dated from 1997 to 2000. Heche opened up about the scrutiny she faced during the relationship on Dancing with the Stars last week, shortly before she was eliminated. She also says it’s been “years” since she’s spoken to Ellen, who married actress Portia de Rossi in 2008.

Alex Trebek surprised when only one contestant makes it to Final 'Jeopardy!'

No Comments Entertainment News

ViacomCBS(LOS ANGELES) — It doesn’t happen often, but Tuesday night only one contestant made it to the final round on Jeopardy!

Returning champion Kevin Walsh played “Final Jeopardy!” solo, after the two other contestants ended the show with either a negative or zero balance

A solo final round hasn’t happened since 2015.  Even host Alex Trebek was surprised.

“The stage looks like a very lonely place right now,” Trebek said. “I cannot recall the last time we only had one player in Final Jeopardy!”

For his solo round, Walsh answered the “Literary Pronoun” challenge. He correctly answered, “What is It?” to the clue, “Thanks to a horror film, this novel returned to the bestseller lists in 2017, some 30 years after reaching No. 1.”
