Jennifer Lawrence explains how she went from voting Republican to becoming a proud Democrat

No Comments Entertainment News

Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — With the presidential election less than a week away, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence made a rare appearance to social media to discuss her political viewpoints and how they changed over the years.

The 30-year-old actress first touched upon the comments she made on the Absolutely Not podcast last week, where she revealed that she used to lean Republican.

“I grew up Republican. My first time voting, I voted for John McCain. I was a little Republican,” she said during the Thursday podcast, adding that she was attracted to the party because of “the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies.”

Now, she’s setting the record straight on what she meant.

“I would like to clarify my voting record, which is the subject of many circulating headlines,” Lawrence opened up in a Tuesday announcement. “I grew up in a Republican family and voted for John McCain in 2008.”

However, her opinions shifted “through Obama’s presidency,” and she started to question her old voting habits.

It led to her realizing “I was voting against my own rights,” and, soon after, she switched parties.

“I am proud to say I am a Democrat,” the Academy Award winner concluded before shouting out former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the BidenHarris Campaign in three separate hashtags.

This is the third time the actress opened up this month regarding her political viewpoints, the first being on October 7 when she announced who she will be voting for on November 3.

In an interview with V Magazine, Lawrence announced that she will be supporting the Democratic ticket in the upcoming election, pledging her vote in support of Vice President Joe Biden and running mate, California Senator Kamala Harris.

'Arrow' alum Stephen Amell reveals COVID-19 diagnosis

No Comments Entertainment News

Sergei Bachlakov/The CW — © 2018 The CW Network, LLC. All Rights Reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — Arrow alum Stephen Amell just dropped the bomb that he tested positive for COVID-19.

During an episode of the Inside Of You podcast, Amell, 39, revealed he received the diagnosis after he had already been in isolation for three weeks due to a crew member on the set of his new wrestling drama Heels testing positive. While he’s not sure where or who he contracted the virus from, he shared that his first concern was what would happen with the show.

Amell explained, “When it happened, when I got the positive test, for me it became, ‘Holy f! I just destroyed this show because I’m number one on the call sheet and I work every day, more or less… I’m in my head going, ‘s! They’re going to have to shut down the production. We’re not yet done with the first block of two episodes. Did I just ruin this?'”

What actually happened was far from what Amell was worried about. Production only shut down for one day and the crew was able to focus on gathering other footage until he could return.

“What they were able to do is mind boggling, quite frankly,” he praised. “It just goes to show that they were prepared for it, but not everyone has the luxury of taking two weeks off.”

During the podcast, the actor noted that his symptoms did not include a fever but he did lose 15 pounds in three weeks due to loss of appetite. He also had a plugged ear, dizziness if he rose to his feet too fast, and “for two nights I was up every couple of hours vacillating between freezing cold and boiling hot.”

Chrissy Teigen opens up about losing her son in heartbreaking essay

No Comments Entertainment News

Rodin Eckenroth/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Chrissy Teigen has opened up about suffering a second-trimester pregnancy loss in September in an emotional essay.

In the essay published on Medium, the Cravings cookbook author penned a heartbreaking account of what happened the day she lost her son — who she and her husband, singer John Legend, had named Jack — at 20 weeks and how she’s been coping with the grief.

“I was about to fully deliver what was supposed to be the 5th member of our beautiful family, a son, only to say goodbye moments later,” Teigen wrote. “People cheered and laughed right outside our door, understandably for a new life born and celebrated. You kind of wonder how anyone is thinking about anyone but you.”

In late September, the 34-year-old, was admitted to the hospital for excessive bleeding. Prior to that, she’d been on weeks of bed rest. In her essay, she shared that her doctors diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption.

After more nights at the hospital and a lot of heavy bleeding, Teigen’s doctors broke the news.

“He just wouldn’t survive this, and if it went on any longer, I might not either,” she said. “Late one night, I was told it would be time to let go in the morning. I cried a little at first, then went into full blown convulsions of snot and tears, my breath not able to catch up with my own incredibly deep sadness. Even as I write this now, I can feel the pain all over again.”

“I wrote this because I knew for me I needed to say something before I could move on from this and return back to life, so I truly thank you for allowing me to do so,” said Teigen.

'The Bachelorette' recap: Has Clare already found her Mr. Right?

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — On Tuesday’s The Bachelorette, it appeared Clare Crawley found her future husband.  Where did that leave the other men?  Well, they wanted answers.

The episode began with the guys hoping for some much-needed one-on-one time with Clare and another shot at winning her over ahead of the rose ceremony.  Yosef, however, planned on using his time with her to address “red flags” with regards to her behavior, specifically her yelling at the men during his group date and subjecting the next group to walk home naked following a game of strip dodgeball.

What began as a polite discussion quickly escalated into a shouting match, ending with Clare telling Yosef to hit the road.  She then informed the rest of the men that she was cancelling the cocktail hour and heading straight to the rose ceremony, which sent Blake Monar and Tyler S. packing.

Jason, Jay, Eazy, Chasen, Blake Moynes, Ed, Riley and Dale, were invited on a group date that promised to “separate the men from the boys,” but it was “scrapped” in favor of “a really long cocktail party” after Clare got a surprise visit from DeAnna Pappas, The Bachelorette from season four.

When Crawley confessed that Dale “checks all the boxes” for her, DeAnna urged her to follow her feelings, leading Clare to declare, “This may be the shortest season [of The Bachelorette] ever.”

After delivering a “band of brothers” speech and calling for a group hug, Dale got cocktail party started by asking for “five minutes with Clare.”  But, when those five minutes turned into nearly an hour, the other men sensed something was amiss.

As it turns out, Dale and Clare were off getting extremely cozy in her villa.  When Eazy interrupted them with a knock on the door, the two pretended they were having a casual conversation.

Following her conversation with Eazy, Clare was overheard asking a crew member if they could “hurry the rest along.”

After Dale “accidentally” interrupted Ed’s time with Crawley, the guys agreed it was time to call Dale out.  When Clare returned, the guys were disappointed, but not shocked, when Dale was handed the date rose.  He only poured gasoline on the fire by telling the others that he was “the best man suited” to date Clare.

Elsewhere, Zach J. got a solo spa date with Clare that was doomed from the start because she made it known to the camera that she wished it was Dale instead.  Zach and Clare’s otherwise pleasant date fizzled when Clare leaned in to kiss Zach and he appeared to pull away, although Zach insisted it was the other way around.

Instead of Clare showing up for the second part of their date, it was host Chris Harrison, who delivered the bad news that Zach’s time on the show was over.

Brendan, Joe, Kenny, Bennett, Ben, Jordan C., Ivan, Riley, Zac C. and Demar took part in a “roast” hosted by comedian Margaret Cho, where everyone was the victim.  The rest of the men, including Dale, were brought in as the audience.  Unsurprisingly, Dale and his self-proclaimed “frontrunner” status were the main targets.  The hostility wasn’t lost on Clare, whose one-on-one conversations with the guys revolved around their rising animosity towards him.

Clare’s decision to withhold the date rose made the men conclude that Dale won her heart, and the others threatened to walk away from the competition.

“Are the shocking rumors true?” Harrison teased earlier in the episode, referring to the reports of Clare finding her future husband just weeks into the show and being replaced by Tayshia Adams, a contestant on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor.

We seem to get at least part of the answer when Adams turns up in the teaser for next week’s episode.  Whether or not the rumors are true has yet to be seen.

The Bachelorette, returns Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Here are the remaining men:

Ben, 29, an Army Ranger veteran from Venice, Calif.
Bennett, 36, a wealth management consultant from New York City, N.Y.
