Noam Galai/Getty Images for Beyond Yoga(NEW YORK) — It’s been four months since Broadway star Nick Cordero lost his lengthy battle with COVID-19. His wife, Amanda Kloots, took to Instagram to honor her husband and reflect on their life together.

Sharing a photo of the smiling couple posing with their young son Elvis on Thursday, the fitness trainer mourned, “This was one year ago. I really miss my person. Today is 4 months without you Nick.”

Kloots went onto note how she and her baby boy are keeping Cordero’s memory alive.

“Elvis and I play your music everyday, we kiss your photograph every night and hope you visit us in our dreams,” she tenderly revealed.  “We love and miss you honey.”

Kloots was met with an outpouring of support from fans, her friends and those who had the privilege to work alongside Cordero, a Tony-nominated actor.

Actress Selma Blair extended her heartfelt condolences, writing, “I love you. You are loved. And Elvis. And nick. And the energy around you. The highest. Rest in knowing.”

Other famous faces, like Olivia Munn and Jennifer Love Hewitt were unable to find the words to express their sympathy and, instead, left a series of heart emojis to show their support.

Cordero died on July 5 after a nearly 100-day battle against COVID-19.

The Broadway star was hospitalized in late March and was quickly placed on a ventilator, where he slipped into a coma.  The 41-year-old suffered a series of complications, from lung infections to having one of his legs amputated.

“God has another angel in heaven now,” Kloots tearfully announced on Instagram to tell fans that her husband did not recover. “He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”

Cordero and Kloots wed in 2017.

Al Roker reveals prostate cancer diagnosis

No Comments Entertainment News

Nathan Congleton/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — Beloved weatherman and Today show personality Al Roker revealed Friday morning that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and would be taking time off to undergo surgery to have the organ removed.

Roker claimed he had no symptoms but that a routine check-up flagged his diagnosis. “It’s a good news-bad news kind of thing,” he commented on air. “Good news is we caught it early. Not great news is that it’s a little aggressive, so I’m going to be taking some time off to take care of this.”

Dr. Vincent Laudone, who will perform the surgery on the 66-year-old Roker at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City next week, told Today, “Fortunately his cancer appears somewhat limited or confined to the prostate, but because it’s more aggressive, we wanted to treat it.”

Roker told his audience he intends to chronicle his “journey” battling the disease, with which statistically one in seven African-American men, and one in nine men overall, will be diagnosed in their lifetime. Prostate cancer is very treatable if detected early, Roker noted, advising men to see their doctors even if they don’t have any symptoms.

Roker said he’d “hopefully” be back on the air in two weeks.

Anne Hathaway apologizes after 'The Witches' receives backlash from disabled community

No Comments Entertainment News

Warner Bros./HBO Max(LOS ANGELES) — Anne Hathaway has issued an apology after HBO Max’s remake of The Witches garnered backlash from people with limb differences.

In the reimagined film, which is based on Roald Dahl’s classic book and the original 1990 film, Hathaway, 37, portrays a witch but, unlike in the novel, the witches have three long fingers instead of claws, which upset members of the disabled community.

Paralympic swimmer and Para-triathlete Claire Cashmore, who was born without a left hand, was first to go public with the criticism, claiming the movie’s portrayal could stigmatize people who had similar disabilities.
“Your arm is so scary’ ‘Your arm makes me feel sick’ These are just a few comments I received growing up,” the athlete and activist said in part on her Instagram feed, which featured a photo Hathaway’s character sporting six long, clawed fingers.

In response, the Oscar winning actress made a public apology.

“I have recently learned that many people with limb differences, especially children, are in pain because of the portrayal of the Grand High Witch in The Witches,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday, November 5.

“Let me begin by saying I do my best to be sensitive to the feelings and experiences of others not out of some scrambling PC fear, but because not hurting others seems like a basic level of decency we should all be striving for,” she continued. “As someone who really believes in inclusivity and really, really detests cruelty, I owe you all an apology for the pain caused. I am sorry. I did not connect limb difference with the GHW when the look of the character was brought to me; if I had, I assure you this never would have happened.”

Hathaway added, “I particularly want to say I’m sorry to kids with limb differences: now that I know better I promise I’ll do better. And I owe a special apology to everyone who loves you as fiercely as I love my own kids: I’m sorry I let your family down.”

The mother of two also encouraged others to educate themselves and check out the nonprofit Lucky Fin Project, which is dedicated to those in that community, “to get a more inclusive and necessary perspective on limb difference.”

The Witches, starring Hathaway, fellow Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, and narration by Chris Rock, premiered on HBO Max on October 22.
