Lionsgate(LOS ANGELES) — Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, and fellow Marvel and Star Wars series veteran Mads Mikkelsen appear in a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi movie Chaos Walking.
Based on the young adult sci-fi trilogy of the same name, the movie features Star Wars starDaisy Ridley as Viola, a young woman who crash-lands on a distant planet where there are no women. All the men on the planet are afflicted by “the Noise” — a phenomenon which allows their thoughts to be heard at all times.
Holland of Spider-Man fame plays Todd, who ends up protecting Viola when her life is threatened. Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo also stars, as does recording artist and Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Joe Jonas, who plays a soldier and son of the evil mayor, played by Mikkelsen.
Directed by Edge of Tomorrow‘s Doug Liman, Chaos Walking will be released on January 22.
Scott Heins/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Despite a report to the contrary this week from TMZ, Harvey Weinstein does not have COVID-19 and is not “severely ill,” according to his spokesman.
ABC News obtained a statement from Juda Engelmayer, a rep for the disgraced movie mogul, and Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s authorized New York State Department of Corrections spokesman. Their comments read in part: “[W]e can report that Mr. Weinstein’s fever has dropped but is still being closely monitored. We can also report at this time that he does not have COVID-19.”
They added, “Mr. Weinstein continues to be very closely monitored due to plethora of underlying health issues which are continuing to decline, get worse, and need treatment.”
The statement also thanked, “the healthcare and medical team at Wende [Correctional Facility] and the [NYC Department of Corrections] Central Office who have been working with us very closely to ensure all his health issues will be addressed in a timely manner.”
In March, the former movie producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison for his convictions on rape and sexual assault.
Weinstein was sentenced in New York to 20 years for criminal sexual assault for forcing oral sex on a victim. That sentence was ordered to run consecutively with a three-year sentence for the third-degree rape of another woman.
It was announced last month by the LA County District Attorney that he now faces three new counts of rape and three new counts of forcible oral copulation involving the two women.
Overall, Weinstein faces an additional 11 sexual assault counts involving five women in California, which could add an additional 140 years to life in state prison, on top of his 23-year sentence.
ABC/Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Jason Momoa is starting to feel the pains of fatherhood all over again.
His teenage daughter Lola is fast approaching the age where girls start to become a little boy crazy, which the Aquaman star admits he is dreading the day when he inevitably meets the first boyfriend she parades through the door.
Momoa said he cried when his little girl turned 13 and is not looking forward to her hitting the big 1-4 next month.
“I’m not going to do well with it,” the 6’4″ actor jokingly confessed in the December issue of Men’s Health. “I’ll just hate it if she brings home some [idiot] bad boy.”
Momoa added that he’s been dropping hints about what kind of person he would be open to her dating, adding, “I’m like, ‘If you find a man who treats you better than I [treat Lisa Bonet], good luck!”
However, the Dune star may have a silent way of letting that future boyfriend know he’s toast if he breaks Lola’s heart.
When referencing his height and intimidating muscular build, Momoa noted, “Hawaiians are big people. I rock climb a lot. Maybe I’m an ape.”
Continued the actor, “I love the way it feels. I like being upside down. I always loved climbing trees as a kid and swinging in the breeze. But lifting weights is challenging.”
Thankfully for the father of two, Lola isn’t interested in boys just yet. In fact, she’s more like Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she’s obsessed with books.
“I’m like, ‘Stop reading! Get outside.’ It’s insane,” the 41-year-old actor laughed, noting that her brother, 11-year-old Nakoa-Wolf, is just as bad. “I can’t believe it—they love reading.”
Momoa shares both Lola and Nakoa-Wolf with wife Lisa Bonet.
HBO Max(LOS ANGELES) — If you can’t spend Thanksgiving with your family this year due to the pandemic, why not spend a Friendsgiving with Selena Gomez?
In honor of her “favorite holiday,” Selena’s HBO Max cooking show, Selena + Chef, is airing a special Friendsgiving episode today.
The singer will be joined virtually by celebrity cook and The Next Food Network Star champ Aarti Sequeira, who will teach her how to make tandoori butter turkey breast and some colorful side dishes. Both Selena and Aarti will also be joined by some of their friends in the episode.
The first season of Selena + Chef debuted in August and it has already been renewed for a second season.
Joshua Kissi/People(NEW YORK) — People‘s Sexiest Man Alive for 2020 may be Creed and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, but there are plenty of other sexy celebs represented in the magazine’s “sexiest men” ranking for this year.
People’s overall Men of the Year list for 2020 includes actor/activists like Chris Evans and Oscar-winner Brad Pitt, as well as former “Sexiest Man” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Evans’ superhero pal Paul Rudd, The Mandalorian‘s hunky hunter Pedro Pascal, and Tenet star John David Washington.
Even MSNBC journalist Steve Kornacki got the nod, for his breathless — and for many, including former SNL star Leslie Jones, breathtaking — khaki-clad election coverage.
Newly-minted Emmy-winner Dan Levy also made the list, with the Schitt’s Creek star admitting he might seem out of place on a ranking chock full of Avengers and other action heroes, declaring “This form of sexy is a niche market.”
