ABC/Lou Rocco(LOS ANGELES) — Constance Wu surprised fans with the news that she welcomed her first child with boyfriend, musician Ryan Kattner, over the summer.
The news came as a shock, since the Fresh Off the Boat and Crazy Rich Asians star never publicly revealed her pregnancy and has kept a low profile since the spring.
“They are doing great, and they’re so excited and happy,” a source told E! News.
Wu, 38, was last photographed walking the red carpet at the Queerties 2020 Awards Reception, according to the entertainment website. She labeled her Twitter account “defunct” back December of 2019, and did the same with her Instagram page this past May.
Wu’s will next be seen in the upcoming big screen drama I Was a Simple Man, premiering at Sundance in January.
ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Michael B. Jordan is taking the leap from People‘s sexiest man alive to director.
According to his co-star Tessa Thompson, the 33-year-old actor will make his directorial debut with the third installment of the sports drama Creed.
“He is directing the next Creed,” Thompson revealed during an interview with MTV News.
“It’s going to be ammo, I think, for me, when he is engaging with me as a director,” she continued. “I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness. But we’re not gonna make it until later in the year. So who knows what happens? Another man will be – I don’t know if he will still be the Sexiest Man Alive in six months.”
When it comes to how the Westworld actress feels about Jordan nabbing the title of sexiest man alive, she admittedly hasn’t talked him him about it yet but is already plotting for when she does.
“I’m proud of him. I’m so happy for him. And I will give him a lot of crap about it in person and cannot wait,” she said.
Tommy Garcia/Bravo(DALLAS) — D’Andra Simmons, who stars on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Dallas, has been hospitalized after suffering from COVID-19 symptoms.
A rep for the star tells People that Simmons “has tested positive for COVID,” and “has been admitted to the COVID ward at UT Southwestern Hospital in Texas.”
The rep adds that Simmons’ “oxygen levels were borderline and she will start [the treatment] remdesivir.”
“At this time we ask you to respect her and her family’s privacy and to send your prayers for a speedy recovery,” the statement concludes.
Production of Bravo’s various Real Housewives shows have been touched by the pandemic; last week’s episode of Real Housewives of Orange County saw star Shannon Beador breaking down when she discovered she tested positive for the virus.
On Saturday, Simmons had posted an upbeat Christmas family picture to her Instagram, likely before she learned of her diagnosis. In it, she’s wearing a cast over her ankle, which she mentioned was from “ankle replacement and foot surgery.”
2018 – Paramount Pictures(LOS ANGELES) — After a tumultuous last couple of weeks of shooting — during which he was recorded verbally taking several crew members to task for violating COVID-19 rules — Tom Cruise is back at work on Mission: Impossible 7.
The actor and producer took an early break from the U.K. shoot to travel to Miami for Christmas, but Variety reports he’s back at work, now at Longcross Film Studios.
The location is a former U.K. Ministry of Defense site that’s been turned into a studio space that was home to films like Skyfall, Guardians of the Galaxy and the COVID-delayed Kingsman prequel The King’s Man, among others.
Variety reports the studio is locked down tight, allowing filming to continue under very strict coronavirus safety protocols. The latest Mission: Impossible movie, co-written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is expected to wrap production at that location.
M:I 7, which also stars Cruise’s rumored new girlfriend Hayley Atwell, as well as returning cast members Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, among others, is scheduled for a November 17, 2021 debut.
Emmy-winner Wayne Brady, Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess and Grammy nominee Adam Lambert — along with Tony winners André De Shields and Priscilla Lopez and Tony nominees Ashley Park and Mary Testa — have signed onto a digital charity staging of Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.
The original production saw hundreds of people contributing to the viral original project, although some incorrectly referred to the Oscar-winning movie’s central chef rat, which was voiced by Patton Oswalt, as “Ratatouille,” not Remy.
Kimmy Schmidt vet Burgess will play Remy in the virtual event, while Brady will play his father, Django, and Lambert will play Remy’s dim-but-lovable brother, Emile.
Seaview, the producer of Broadway shows including Slave Play and the Jake Gyllenhaal-Tom Sturridge production Sea Wall/A Life, is selling sell tickets to the event, which will benefit The Actors Fund, which has been helping performers struggling during the pandemic.
The online event debuts Friday, January 1 at 7 pm ET, and will stream for 72 hours.
According to the event’s producers, “The one-time performance of Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical will feature content created by members of TikTok’s #RatatouilleMusical Community, whose collective work has earned the engagement of more than 200 million fans around the globe, and will be performed with the 20-piece Broadway Sinfonietta orchestra.”
