Christie Brinkley reveals she needed a hip replacement

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Justin Stephens(LOS ANGELES) — New Year, New Hip!  Christie Brinkley says that’s how she rang in 2021.

In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, the model revealed on Instagram that she had to undergo a hip replacement and proudly showed off the spot where she had the surgery.

“New Year, New Hip! Yes that’s a band aid on my hip,” Brinkley wrote in the lengthy caption. “I injured my hip in a back country skiing helicopter crash on a mountaintop in Telluride many years ago.  The pain in my hip got a little bit worse each year.”

The 66-year-old said she was told that her hip needed replacing over a decade ago, but “the surgery was daunting! And I had things to do!”

Brinkley said the reason she finally agreed to replace her hip was because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed down her life enough to “finally take time for myself and do something about the pain that had progressively influenced my decisions.”

“I had my surgery at Thanksgiving and I was dancing in my kitchen by New Years Eve and today I put on my long fins and explored the coral reefs propelled by my new hip,” the American Beauty Star judge celebrated.

Brinkley hopes to inspire others to put their health and comfort first by speaking out about her surgery.

“I’m writing all this to say If you’ve been putting something off that could improve your well-being but hesitate out of some sort of fear, I suggest learning as much as you can about the process and the results and expectations” she said. “I can’t tell you how happy I am to have done this. Now I can focus on getting back in shape and rebuilding my strength.”

Brinkley also joked she’s never too old “to get hip!”

NBC(NEW YORK) — Jimmy Fallon is making sure that one waiter’s New Year is off to a good start with one very generous monetary tip.

According to Page Six, an insider saw the late night talk show host having dinner with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, at Kissaki in Water Mill, NY over the weekend. And they must have enjoyed themselves because Fallon apparently “left a $400 on his way out, to the waiter’s delight.”

Let’s hope he gets a “Thank You Note.”

The source added that Fallon also posed for photos with fans — behind plexiglass and with a mask on.

The outlet notes that Fallon has a home in Sagaponack, a few minutes from Water Mill, which viewers have gotten a glimpse of on The Tonight Show.

Taraji P. Henson talks about how she was unable to tell her young son that his dad was murdered

No Comments Entertainment News

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for dcp(LOS ANGELES) — Actress Taraji P. Henson is recalling the time she had to go through a parent’s worst nightmare, telling her young son that his father was murdered.

A preview of Wednesday’s Peace of Mind with Taraji shows the 50-year-old speaking about the difficult decision she faced upon learning that her ex-boyfriend, William Johnson, was killed.

“My son’s father was suddenly taken, murdered, when he was 9 and I didn’t know how to tell him that,” Henson admits to co-host Tracie Jade Jenkins.  “I couldn’t tell him he was murdered.”

Johnson, who was 34 at the time and Henson’s high school sweetheart, was stabbed to death on January 26, 2003.  Police said a confrontation over a slashed tire escalated and led to his death.

Because the Empire alum was unable to tell her child, Marcel, the truth, she lied and said Johnson “died in an accident.”

“I just didn’t have the words. I didn’t know how to tell a 9-year-old,” Henson tearfully explained. “[His dad] was stabbed to death. It was the worst way you could die.”

Marcel, who is now 26, eventually learned what happened and confronted her, said Henson.

“He came back to me and was like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me my daddy was murdered?’ And so then we had to get therapy,” she said.

The conversation was then turned over to the show’s guest, therapist Sierra Hillsma, who provided tips on how to properly have a difficult conversation with a young child.

Hillsman advised that the best way to talk about sensitive topics with children is to use age-appropriate language and to explain “there are situations where people do evil things to other people.”

Peace of Mind with Taraji airs Monday and Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET on Facebook Watch.

Netflix halts production in Los Angeles as COVID-19 cases surge

No Comments Entertainment News

iStock/TrekAndShoot(LOS ANGELES) — While Hollywood studios had started to ramp up production following the spring’s COVID-19 shutdowns, Los Angeles-based productions have again screeched to a halt, following a surge in infections there.

Deadline reports Netflix has become the latest studio to hit pause in its shooting in the LA County area, even though such productions had technically been exempt from stay-at-home orders that affect other industries.

Production on the Netflix sitcom Happy Family — which had been shooting without a studio audience to comply with COVID-19 protocols — has now gone dark, as have “several unscripted shows and additional photography for Netflix movies,” according to the trade.

The streaming giant is following the lead of other studios, which are either delaying new shooting starts or pausing their in-person productions for at least two weeks. Shows that had returned to an altered studio setting, like The Late Late Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, are headed back to work-at-home status, Deadline says.

Additionally, SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris agreed with health officials in Los Angeles who called for a pause, issuing a press release co-signed by the Producers Guild of America and the The Joint Policy Committee, which represents commercial production.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 vet said in the statement, “Southern California hospitals are facing a crisis the likes of which we have never seen before. Patients are dying in ambulances waiting for treatment because hospital emergency rooms are overwhelmed. This is not a safe environment for in-person production right now.

Los Angeles County currently has more reported COVID-19 infections than any other county in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins University.

No Comments Entertainment News

BG026/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images)(LOS ANGELES) — Whitney Port is opening up about her recent pregnancy loss.

In an Instagram post shared on Monday, the reality star and podcast host revealed that she suffered a miscarriage.

“Hey, Everyone. This is not an easy one,” she began. “We decided to start vlogging for our YouTube channel a couple months ago to share two stories: Renovating a new house and a new pregnancy journey. Sadly, I lost the pregnancy.”

Port, 35, went on to explain that she and husband, Tim Rosenman, weren’t sure if they wanted to continue their video project, especially since this is their second miscarriage within two years. She previously suffered a pregnancy loss in July 2019.

“I wasn’t sure I wanted to relive the pain,” the former The Hills star wrote. “However, this time around, I felt differently about the situation. Last time, I don’t think I was ready to have another child, and I had different feelings about the miscarriage. This time, I really connected. I was actually excited and enjoying the pregnancy.”

“I envisioned it all. I’m sad but I’m ok and we will try again. So here’s our story. I also have so much sadness in my heart for anyone that has to go through this or has gone through this. I know though that our community will share, band together and support- cause you always do,” she shared.

Port, who is already mother to 3-year-old son Sonny, then directed fans to her YouTube where she will release one video a day for five days chronicling their journey.

The first video was published on Monday.
