Wealthy in Hollywood reportedly using private jets, agents, and even bribes to score COVID-19 vaccine

No Comments Entertainment News

iStock/Ridofranz(LOS ANGELES) — While it’s already been reported that a few celebrities of advanced age have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, like 73-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger, 79-year-old Martha Stewart, 78-year-old Harrison Ford, and 75-year-old Steve Martin, Variety reports that many in showbiz who aren’t yet eligible for the vaccine based on age are doing everything in their considerable power to get it.

“It’s like Hunger Games out there,” one Hollywood exec tells the trade.

“Managers, agents, producers and a few film directors have pivoted from their daily business to focus on helping clients and stars find vaccines for family members,” Variety reports, quoting an anonymous source.

“We’ve been offered bribes. We see people taking [private] planes to every location. We’ve seen people try to transiently get into the healthcare profession or on staff at nursing homes, so they qualify for an early vaccine,” said Beverly Hills-based Dr. Robert Huizenga, who has appeared as an expert on The Biggest Loser.

He tells Variety his practice has been offered payoffs in excess of $10,000 from Hollywood types looking for the coveted jab, but they’ve refused.

Dr. Ehsan Ali runs Beverly Hills Concierge Doctor, whose client list reportedly includes the likes of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, tells the Los Angeles Times that money is no object for his clients — but vaccine supply is. “This is the first time where I have not been able to get something for my patients,” he tells the paper. “We get hundreds of calls every single day.”

Dr. Jeff Toll, a physician linked to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles recalled to the paper a patient asking him, “‘If I donate $25,000 to Cedars, would that help me get in line?'” the answer, Dr. Toll says, was no.

'Worst Cooks in America' episodes pulled off air after season 20 winner charged with homicide

No Comments Entertainment News

Ariel Robinson — CREDIT: SIMPSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT(SOUTH CAROLINA) — (NOTE NATURE, CONTENT) Popular Food Network series Worst Cooks in America was rocked by a horrifying situation when its 20th season winner was charged with homicide.  Following the disturbing charges, traces of the entire season have all but disappeared.

Ariel Robinson, who was crowned the latest champion of the competitive cooking series, was arrested and charged last Tuesday for the death of her three-year-old foster daughter, Victoria Rose Smith.

Deadline reports that Robinson’s husband, Jerry Robinson, was also arrested and charged with the child’s death.  They are suspected of homicide by child abuse after the little girl was found unresponsive at their house in Simpsonville, S.C. on January 14.

A medical examiner later ruled that the toddler died by blunt force injuries.

Following the arrests, Food Network has scrubbed all traces of its 20th season, which premiered last year, from VOD, YouTube and all affiliated streaming services such as Discovery+ and Hulu.

Robinson claimed the $25,000 prize on August 2.

Food Network nor show hosts Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli have commented on the situation.

Anna Paquin says she's "too boring" to need a PR person like she plays in 'Flack'

No Comments Entertainment News

Amazon Video(NEW YORK) — In the first preview of the show Flack, now streaming on Amazon Prime, Anna Paquin’s character, Robyn, is literally holding the hand of an unseen scandal-plagued celebrity, leading him from shower to bedroom to limo to get him to look halfway presentable for a post-bender award show appearance.

It’s all in a day’s work for her character, and for many so-called flacks whose mission is to keep their famous clients out of the scandal pages.

While its star and producer is herself a famous, Oscar winning celeb, Paquin says a rep possessing such skills would be lost on her.

“Of course, I am exposed to, familiar with that side of the business, but I’m kind of a bit of a nerdy actressy actress, so that has not been my experience of the PR world,” the former True Blood star tells ABC Audio, with a laugh.  “Because I’m just a bit too boring.”

She adds, “I do really enjoy peeling back the curtains on things that people think they know stuff about and showing them how it really works.”

Paquin says she was “so lucky” to get her show’s cast, adding choices like Lydia Wilson, Genevieve Angelson and Sophie Okonedo, who plays her calculating boss Caroline, were automatic. It was like, “There she is! That’s the person,” Paquin enthuses.

Of Okonedo, Anna says, “She’s lovely. She’s delightful… But when she steps into Caroline: zero acting required for many of us gals because she’s terrifying!”

Flack is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

Kelley Flanagan says she would "consider" being the next Bachelorette

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Frank Micelotta(LOS ANGELES) — Could Kelley Flanagan be the next Bachelorette?

A month after her split with with former Bachelor Peter Weber, Flannagan told her followers on Instagram that she’s open to the idea, according to People.

During a “True or False?” game Saturday, a fan posed the question to her and the 28-year-old attorney replied via Instagram story that she would “definitely consider it!”

The couple, who dated for almost a year, each took to social media to announce the unfortunate news that they were going their separate ways. Peter was first to address the breakup in an Instagram post on December 31.

During her “True or False?” game on Saturday, Flannagan told fans that despite the split, she was “content” with her life.

“My mom could tell you stories since I’ve been 2 years old, I’ve just marched to the beat of my own drum and, I mean, when you’re making your own decisions, how could you not be content?” she said.

“Some” of her family members, she added, “were not the most supportive” of her decision to go on the ABC reality dating show, but she knew she would “regret it if she listened to anyone else” besides herself.

The Bachelor airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
