New York Post on Wednesday revealed how the 92-year-old comedian wanted his $5 million estate to be handled.  While the comedy great made sure his family was well cared for, Stiller also bequeathed some of his estate to former employees and made a few final charitable donations to some local organizations.

Stiller’s will was dated May 2010, so two beneficiaries who were to inherit a portion of Stiller’s estate had unfortunately passed before him: his wife and former Stiller and Meara comedy partner Anne Meara, as well as his former housekeeper.

Meara, who died in 2015, was to inherit Stiller’s automobiles, jewelry and other physical valuables.  The will indicated that, in the case of Meara’s death, their children, Ben Stiller and Amy Stiller, would be divide the belongings.

Manhattan Surrogate’s court, which filed the will in September, listed Stiller’s longtime personal assistant as another recipient.  She was bequeathed $150,000 “in recognition of her exceptional services toward enhancing the professional careers of myself and my wife for many years.”

The late comedian also willed $25,000 to Syracuse University, his alma mater, and directed the funds to their theatre department.

He also left $10,000 to The Actors Fund of America to benefit various New Jersey-based retirement and nursing homes.

Other organizations Stiller supported in his will were the Boys & Girls Republic and the Abrons Arts Center.

A spokesperson of the latter told the Post, “Jerry Stiller was certainly a beloved member of the Henry Street family, who got his start on the stage of what is now our Abrons Arts Center…He always spoke very fondly of the Settlement!”

Ben and Amy Stiller have not responded to request for comment regarding the matter.

'Bachelor' star Matt James apologizes for allowing friend to shame Victoria Larson's body

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Billy Kidd, ABC/Craig Sjodin(LOS ANGELES) — The highly dramatic season of The Bachelor continues Monday but series’ star Matt James found himself in hot water after a friend was recorded disparaging contestant Victoria Larson’s body at a recent golf outing.

Posted to the account BachelorNation.Scoop, the clip shows one of the Bachelor’s friends, Jerry, teasing Matt as he tees up a shot, “Now how was Victoria’s body? Cause when I look at her, it doesn’t look very nice.”

While Matt doesn’t laugh at the low blow, he doesn’t reprimand Jerry, either, which enraged fans and demanded he apologize to the controversial contestant.

In addition, Victoria slid into the comment section and cracked with a smiley face, “Cute… I love my body.”

Matt addressed the controversy Wednesday on The Real and apologized for not immediately correcting his friend’s behavior.

“That is never something I condone or stand for,” explained Matt, 29. “It’s just a constant reminder that you need to be smart about the people you surround yourself with.”

He continued, “And those moments when you’re in sports and people are trying to say things to you to throw things off your game, it’s sad that someone would think saying something like that about a woman that I was dating would deter me from what I was trying to do.”

He also said the clip left out an important interaction that he had with Jerry after those derogatory comments were made.

“I said something to him off-camera about it. Something along the lines of, ‘Victoria wouldn’t have given him a second look,'” he revealed.

“That’s not my character and that’s not what I’m about,” continued Matt. “I apologize on his behalf. I don’t know if you’ll get it from him, but that’s not something I support or stand for.”

The Bachelor returns Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Morris Chestnut says fans aren't shy about hating on his character in 'The Resident'

No Comments Entertainment News

FOX/Guy D’Alema(LOS ANGELES) — Actor Morris Chestnut plays arrogant, and unethical neurosurgeon Dr. Barrett Cain on Fox’s The Resident, and he’s so good at the smarm that the affable actor says he’s now getting confronted by fans.

“When people come up to me about this show, I know they’re really watching because they come up to me and [say], ‘Oooh, I can’t stand your character. Why did you lie to those people?’ Yeah, they admonish me,” he laughed on a recent episode of PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing.

“It’s kind of like being able to play the villain, something that people don’t really expect from me.”

However, just as the series had been doubling down on Chestnut’s character’s unethical behavior — he tricked a patient into undergoing an unnecessary procedure during the pandemic just to pad the hospital’s bottom line, endangering the man’s life — the producers threw fans a curveball.

Tuesday night’s episode showed Chestnut’s character doing something selfless for a change — pulling a woman from a burning car — only to see him struck by a car and seriously injured, meaning the staff of Chastain Memorial has to save the career, and the life, of a guy we’ve all come to love to hate.

Executive producer Andrew Chapman tells PeopleTV partner Entertainment Weekly, “…[H]e’s arrogant and a bad guy, but yet at the same time he’s only human. So even if Cain survives the accident, would he change his core personality? Would he ever become a good guy? That’s more iffy.”

The Resident airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

Cloris Leachman, Oscar and Emmy winning star of 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show', dead at 94

No Comments Entertainment News

Photo courtesy Integrated PR(LOS ANGELES) — Cloris Leachman, the versatile Oscar and multiple-Emmy winning actress whose career on stage, television and film spanned more than seven decades, has died at age 94.

She passed away Tuesday of natural causes in Encinitas, California, her longtime manager Juliet Green tells ABC News.

“There was no one like Cloris,” Green said, calling the performer, “one of the most fearless actresses of our time.”

The first celebrity to react to her passing was her Mary Tyler Moore co-star Ed Asner, who tweeted a picture of her laughing as he kisses the side of her head at a black tie event. “A picture from the last time I saw you,” he captioned the photo.

“Always beautiful. Nothing I could say would top the enormity of my love for you,” Asner wrote, adding, “Until we meet again darling” and the hashtag “#clorisleachmanrip”

Leachman, equally adept at comedy and drama, was perhaps best known for her TV roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Phyllis, as well as The Facts of Life, Malcolm in the Middle and more recently, in Fox’s Raising Hope.

She won eight Primetime Emmy Awards — a record that stood for decades, until it was matched in 2017 by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Leachman, however, also won one Daytime Emmy Award.

On the big screen, she won the Academy Award for her role as a gym teacher’s neglected wife in 1971’s The Last Picture Show. She also appeared in three Mel Brooks films, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety and History of the World: Part I. And she played Daisy May Moses in the 1993 film version of The Beverly Hillbillies.

Leachman was introduced to a new generation of fans when she became the oldest contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2008. Paired with professional dancer Corky Ballas, she was 82 at the time. Her appearance led to a surge of new TV and film roles, including playing Maw Maw on the Fox sitcom Raising Hope from 2010-2014.

Leachman was born April 30, 1926, the oldest of three sisters, in Des Moines, Iowa. She began acting as a youngster and later studied drama at Northwestern University in Illinois, alongside friends Charlotte Rae and Paul Lynde.

After graduating from high school, Leachman enrolled at Illinois State University to study drama, and later, Northwestern University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. After winning a scholarship in the Miss America pageant, she moved to New York City to study acting under director Elia Kazan at the Actors Studio and was immediately cast on Broadway and in film.

Starting in the 1950s, she appeared in many TV programs, including a brief stint as Timmy’s mother in the original Lassie. Her role as Mary Tyler Moore’s nosy and manipulative landlady, Phyllis Lindstrom, made her a star.

In addition to her busy acting career, Leachman raised five children — four sons and a daughter — with film director George Englund. Leachman and Englund were married for 26 years, before divorcing in 1979.

Leachman never remarried and is survived by four of her children as well as several grandchildren whom, “she loved fiercely,” according to her rep.

Netflix sends fans a thank you after 'Bridgerton' officially becomes its biggest original series ever

No Comments Entertainment News

Netflix(LOS ANGELES) — It has already been reported that Bridgerton had the biggest ever debut for a Netflix original series when it dropped late last year, but now that the numbers are officially in, the bodice-ripping romantic drama has become the biggest show in the streaming service’s history.

Its launch was bigger than even Netflix projected: the company says the series was watched by 82 million people — or a whopping 41% of Netflix’s global audience of 200 million — in its first 28 days online, Deadline reports.

Based on Julia Quinn’s beloved book series, the latest hit from Shonda Rhimes centers on Phoebe Dynevor’s character, Daphne Bridgerton, and her marriage to the Duke of Hastings, played by heartthrob Regé-Jean Page.

As a “thank you” to those 82 million people, Netflix posted to social media a video compilation of fans who’ve gone all-in on the so-called “Bridgerton Effect” — wearing period frocks, reenacting scenes, buying frilly finery, and even affecting posh British accents — to celebrate their new favorite show.

Bridgerton‘s performance bested its former viewership champ The Witcher, which attracted 76 million viewers within its first 28 days of launch; Lupin, which attracted 70 million, and The Queen’s Gambit, which debuted with an audience of 62 million.
