'Jeopardy!' Productions and Alex Trebek's family donate much of his wardrobe to charity

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy Jeopardy! Productions(NEW YORK) — Hundreds of pieces of clothing that made up the late Alex Trebek’s wardrobe are being donated for a good cause.

The wardrobe articles from the late Jeopardy! host were donated to The Doe Fund, a charity that provides, “work, housing, vocational training, continuing education, and comprehensive social services to underserved Americans with histories of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.”

Trebek lost his battle against pancreatic cancer last November. He was 80.

Much of the collection donated by his family and the quiz show — 14 suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 neckties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters, 9 sports coats, 9 pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, 2 parkas, and 3 pairs of dress slacks, specifically — will be given to the organization’s Ready, Willing and Able program, which provides clothing for those who need to look their best for job interviews.

“During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” said Mike Richards, Executive Producer, of Jeopardy! in a press release from Jeopardy! Productions

“Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”

In that statement, Harriet McDonald, President of The Doe Fund, said, “We are so grateful for Jeopardy! and the Trebek family’s commitment to lifting up the most vulnerable among us. The men in our career training programs are always in need of professional attire, so they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they’re hired…”

Grieving the recent loss of her husband and the founder of the charity, George McDonald, Mrs. McDonald noted, “This generous gift honors the legacies of both men, and I know they’re smiling down on us.”

Halle Berry laughs off critics claiming she "can't keep a man"

No Comments Entertainment News

Paul R. Giunta/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — (NOTE LANGUAGE) Halle Berry won’t stand for misogynistic or insulting comments on her social media and shut down several critics who claimed no one wants to date her.

The Academy Award winner, who is currently in a relationship with singer Van Hunt, sparked intense debate over the weekend when she shared an image that stated, “Women don’t owe you s**t.”

Berry, 54, added in the caption, “& that’s on mary had a little lamb.”

A handful of the actress’ 6.7 million followers took issue with the statement, with one suggesting that the only women who believe the mantra are those “who can’t keep a man.”

The comment landed itself on Berry’s radar and she quickly put the naysayer in place by simply correcting, “Who says I wanna keep the wrong man?”

Another critic who took issue with Berry’s post further insulted the actress by suggesting, “You may have to start looking in the mirror, because it’s definitely you. What is it that you’re doing wrong? With all of your accomplishments, fame, beauty, it seems as if you can’t keep a man. I get the feeling that you’re too controlling, demanding and probably full of [yourself.]”

Berry wasted no time reacting to the slight by quipping in return, “Who said I wanted to keep them?”

The Extant alum furthered, “I’m all about living your best life. If you make a wrong move, course correct and re-spin and start again!”

Prior to dating Hunt, Berry was previously married to David Justice, Eric Benét and Olivier Martinez.

With Martinez, she shares a son named Maceo, who is seven.

Berry is also the mother of 12-year-old Nahla, of which she shares with ex Gabriel Aubry.

Super Bowl scored 96.4 million viewers across broadcast and streaming; most live-streamed NFL game ever

Patrick Smith/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — In a sign of the times regarding how entertainment is consumed, CBS announced that Sunday night’s Super Bowl match-up between the Bucs and the Chiefs scored 96.4 million viewers, and the biggest live-streamed audience ever for an NFL game.

After a fumble with the ratings numbers that caused them to be MIA on Monday, the network now says the game — in which Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers destroyed Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City team 31-9, accounted for more than one billion streaming minutes.

That said, the broadcast audience — that’s counting TVs only — was the lowest since 2006.

The game’s 96.4 million viewers watched across a multitude of platforms, including the CBS Television Network for the traditional broadcast, as well as CBS Sports and NFL digital properties, Buccaneers and Chiefs mobile properties, Verizon Media mobile properties and ESPN Deportes television and digital platform.

Super Bowl LV also generated more than 127 billion potential impressions on social media on Sunday, according to the network, and drove a record number of sign-ups to CBS All Access, the network’s streaming service.

'Real Housewives' star Brandi Glanville apologizes after tweeting "You can have my rib cage" to Armie Hammer

No Comments Entertainment News

Photo by: Bravo(LOS ANGELES) — A thirsty tweet to embattled actor Armie Hammer has Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville in hot water.

Glanville had posted a now-deleted thirsty tweet to Hammer, claiming, “Dear @armiehammer. You can have my rib cage [heart emoji] how do you just keep getting hotter and hotter,” following it with the hashtag “#letsbbq,” according to Page Six.

Hammer, 34, has been accused of harboring fantasies involving cannibalism, a charge stemming from leaked and unverified DMs allegedly from him, and which he’s denied. Hammer’s 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, Paige Lorezne, also told the Daily Mail that the former Lone Ranger actor was “obsessed” with the idea of “taking a piece of me…and consuming it.”  In a statement to DailyMail.com, Hammer’s lawyer called those claims “patently untrue.”

Glanville got flamed online after her tweet and quickly backpedaled. “Guys I DID NOT KNOW the extent of what’s being alleged against AH,” she tweeted after deleting the initial post. “I just read he was getting divorced and thought he was hot. No more headline porn for me! I have learned my lesson.”

Although Hammer’s attorney denied the mounting accusations, the actor has been dropped by his talent agency and his personal publicist quit, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The negative headlines caused the actor to step away from two projects: Shotgun Wedding, with Jennifer Lopez, and a series called The Offer, about the making of The Godfather.

'The Mauritanian' lead Tahar Rahim's not getting too caught up in awards buzz

No Comments Entertainment News

STX Films/Graham Bartholomew(NEW YORK) — Last week, The Mauritanian scored two Golden Globe nominations for its stars: Jodie Foster for Best Supporting Actress and Tahar Rahim for Best Actor in a Drama.

The film, out Friday, takes place post-9/11 and follows the true story of Mohamedou Ould Salahi, played by Rahim, a man held without charges in Guantanamo Bay who fights for his freedom with the help of his dedicated lawyer, Nancy Hollander, played by Foster.

Rahim, who delivers a powerful performance as Mohamedou, tells ABC Audio that while all the awards buzz is welcome, he doesn’t want to get too caught up in it.

“It feels good, of course, I’m still an actor,” Rahim smiles. “It feels good, but, you know, I’m trying to not make a big deal out of it because at some point I know it could become too important and then you can miss what you’re living because it’s just extraordinary what I’m living at the moment.”

The French actor was previously part of the awards circuit for 2009’s A Prophet, which was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

“I don’t want to miss [the moment], I missed it the first time when I did my first movie, A Prophet,” Rahim says. “I was so scared and it was so brand new to me. So I didn’t take advantage as I should have done. I lost time. And I don’t want to lose this time.”

The Mauritanian, also starring Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch, hits theaters Friday, February 12.
