No Comments Country Music News

Courtesy of Penelope PRThis Friday, Lindsay Ell will take the virtual stage to perform the songs off her 2020 album, heart theory, for the first time in a full-band, full-production setting.

Since she first announced the #LiveRedesigned event, which supports Crew Nation and other charities to help live music professionals affected by the pandemic, Lindsay has been promising that the show will feature a number of special moments. Now, she’s revealing that some of those special moments will come in the form of guest appearances from Carly Pearce and Lauren Alaina, two of Lindsay’s fellow country stars and real-life friends.

Lindsay’s band and crew will be paid in full for their work on the show, which is employing over 250 people. However, all the companies involved in staging the event are donating their time and supplies, to provide as much money as possible for the charities giving back to music industry professionals whose livelihoods are impacted by the absence of touring.

The show kicks off tomorrow night at 8PM CT.  Tickets are priced on a pay-what-you-can model beginning at $7.

Jimmie Allen extends message of forgiveness to Morgan Wallen: “We all deserve redemption”

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAJimmie Allen was among the country artists who responded to Morgan Wallen’s Wednesday night social media statement. It was the first time Morgan had broken his silence since last week’s fallout, after video surfaced showing him shouting racial slurs.

Morgan explained in his video message that he’d spent the week apologizing to those closest to him, including his parents, as well as accepting invitations to meet with Black leaders and “engage in some real and very honest conversations.”

He also told fans that he was nine days sober, and that the video they’d seen was filmed “on hour 72 of 72 of a bender.” He also asked them to stop defending him, saying “It’s on me to take ownership of this and I fully accept any penalties I’m facing.”

In response to this message, Jimmie extended his love and support to his fellow singer, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness.

“Can’t wait for the world to see your heart,” Jimmie went on to say. “We ALL mess up and we all deserve redemption. The Bible says forgive 70 x 7. Let’s get through this.”

Earlier in the week, Jimmie shared similar sentiments on social media after taking some time to reflect on the incident. “Forgiveness is more powerful than abandonment. Our job as humans is to help each other be the best versions of themselves,” he offered in one tweet. “It’s not about what is easiest…It’s about what is right. In order to receive forgiveness, we must give forgiveness.”

Other artists who replied to Morgan’s statement to show their support include Hardy, Chris Lane and Jon Langston.

Mickey Guyton joins Cardi B on the farm for the latest “Cardi Tries” episode

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LARapper Cardi B invited Mickey Guyton to be the guest star in the latest episode of her Facebook series, “Cardi Tries.” But once the pair arrived on set together, it became clear that Cardi might have overestimated Mickey’s qualifications for this particular endeavor.

In this episode, Cardi headed out to a farm to learn about ranch life, since she’s hoping to convince her husband, fellow rapper Offset, that they should have a farm on their property one day.

Cardi figured that Mickey — a country star from Texas — would be the perfect person to teach her about riding horses, shearing sheep, slopping pigs and milking a cow. But as it happens, Mickey’s from the suburbs and doesn’t know a whole lot about ranch life.

“So you’re going to teach me?” Mickey replies, after Cardi explains what they’re going to be learning about that day.

“No, you’re going to teach me!” says Cardi.

“I guess we’re gonna have to learn together,” Mickey shrugs, after the two stars realize their mix-up.

Hilarity ensues throughout the clip, as the pair try their hand at farm animal care. Mickey, who’s heavily pregnant in the clip, has to sit out some of the more labor-intensive tasks like horseback riding. However, Mickey and Cardi employ teamwork for other farm chores, like shearing a sheep, as Mickey distracts the animal with food while Cardi takes the clippers to its coat.

Mickey’s guest spot on “Cardi Tries” is the latest in a number of exciting appearances for the “Black Like Me” star, who also recently made her late-night debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Dolly Parton plans to reunite with her '9 to 5' co-stars, thanks to a 'Grace & Frankie' guest spot

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LADolly Parton just might be getting the 9 to 5 gang back together.

The country star has hinted at plans for a guest appearance on Netflix comedy series Grace & Frankie, which stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, the two performers Dolly acted alongside in her beloved 1980 film.

The singer shared some details during a virtual appearance on U.K. talk show Lorraine, where she appeared in conversation with Barry Gibb to discuss their collaboration on his just-released Greenfields album. While she was there, Dolly revealed that she’s been trying for a Grace & Frankie guest spot “for years.”

“We worked so well on 9 to 5, [and] it’s a crazy, wonderful show,” the singer says. “We’ve been trying to write me in somehow. When it’s safe for us to actually do a production…I’ll probably get around to doing that.”

If it happens, the reunion will be a long time coming for the dynamic trio, who have mounted many attempts at a reunion over the past few decades, none of which were successful.

Grace & Frankie centers around the unlikely friendship that unfolds between two women after their husbands leave them to marry each other. Early in 2020, the show was beginning production on its seventh and final season when the pandemic halted things.  At last word, production has yet to resume.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation awards grants to 15 animal shelters

No Comments Country Music News

Becky FlukeMiranda Lambert has always had a big heart for animals in need, and her MattNation Foundation is dedicated to helping and promoting the adoption of shelter pets.

The organization’s ‘Share the Love’ program allows animal welfare volunteers to enter their shelter for a chance to receive one of MuttNation’s 15 $1,000 grants. In 2020, due to the additional challenges of volunteering during a pandemic, the program expanded its parameters to also include people who adopted or fostered animals from shelters.

As a result, Miranda and the team at MuttNation were able to award grants to shelters all across the nation for the third year running. Participating organizations ranged from those in the singer’s home state of Texas to shelters everywhere, from California to Pennsylvania.

“Shelter pets and the people who care for them have the biggest hearts, and sharing the love for Valentine’s Day feels so right,” says Miranda, who has nine shelter dogs herself as well as a number of cats, horses and rabbits.

“It’s amazing to have such an amazing response to our program. The number of people who participated demonstrates the commitment and value that community members provide to their local shelters,” the singer points out. “And, especially given how difficult this year has been — it just means so much.”

Nearly 14,000 volunteers nominated their shelters to be included in this year’s Share the Love program. That’s up from 500 participants in the program’s first year.
