The simple life: "We Didn't Have Much" gets a thumbs-up from Justin Moore's mom and dad

No Comments Country Music News

Cody VillalobosJustin Moore‘s taking listeners on a sentimental journey back to a simpler time with his heartfelt single, “We Didn’t Have Much.” And the country star who still lives in his hometown of Poyen, Arkansas says it’s a big hit with mom and dad.

“They really like it,” he tells ABC Audio. “And they’ll be honest now. They’ll tell me if they don’t, so I assume they really do.”

“But, you know, the song really kinda reminded me of my youth and how simple we lived,” he continues. “And, you know, throughout this thing, especially early on, we were forced as a family to lead a much more simple life, you know, and I really thought the song kind of spoke to the beauty in that simplicity.”

As the father of four navigates the COVID-19 pandemic with his wife Kate, his three daughters, and his son, “We Didn’t Have Much” evokes memories of his own childhood.

“It reminds me of my dad and me going to baseball practice for hours,” he reflects, “or being out in the yard and me begging him to play catch with me till it gets dark, or shooting basketball and he’s rebounding for me, those kinds of things.”

These days, Justin’s carrying on those traditions, coaching his daughters’ basketball and softball teams.

“We Didn’t Have Much” is the first taste of new music, following Justin’s Late Nights and Longnecks album from 2019.

Triple Tigers RecordsRussell Dickerson is elevating the meaning behind his song “Home Sweet” by partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Russell’s current single follows his journey with wife Kailey from newlyweds to expecting their first child, son Remington born in September 2020. The singer finds new meaning in the track by supporting the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway that sees the famous hospital giving away homes in more than 40 markets across the U.S.

“It’s not just, ‘hey, come in and get treated.’ It’s, ‘hey, come in and we’ll make it feel like the least amount of uprooting, make it feel as normal as possible, just to preserve that ‘Home Sweet,’ really,” he describes of the Memphis-based hospital.

Co-written with Lady A member and fellow St. Jude supporter Charles Kelley and Casey Brown, Russell adds that the meaning of home is being with the people you love, regardless of physical location.

“Wherever you’re with your person, that’s home,” he says. “That’s what life is all about is having each other.”

“Home Sweet” is featured on the singer’s latest album, Southern Symphony. It follows a string of #1 hits including his debut single “Yours” and most recent, “Love You Like I Used To.”

Riker Brothers Brett Young is calling on fans to guess if he and wife Taylor are expecting a baby boy or girl.

The country crooner took to Instagram over the weekend to share a photo of a new ultrasound of the couple’s baby, prompting fans to reply in the comment section what sex they think it is.

Though there are several votes that it’s a girl, a majority of fans are placing their bets on it being a baby boy. Brett will officially reveal the answer during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday.

Brett and Taylor announced in January that they’re expecting their second child this summer. The baby will join older sister Presley Elizabeth, whom the couple welcomed in October 2019.

On Monday, the singer announced on his website that the sold-out show at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati that was originally scheduled for May 1 has been moved to September 18 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. All tickets for the original show will be honored at the new date.

According to a statement, Garth set an all-time record in the city of Cincinnati when 70,000 tickets were sold in 75 minutes.

This marks Garth’s debut at Paul Brown Stadium and will be his only show on the Stadium Tour in the states of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. The show’s delay comes weeks after Garth rescheduled his concert at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to September 25.

The superstar shared at the end of his Facebook Live show Inside Studio G last week that he believes full-capacity stadium shows are “just around the corner,” and urged people to continue taking the pandemic seriously.

“I can’t tell you how serious we all need to remain on this COVID thing,” he said, referencing wife Trisha Yearwood‘s recent battle with the virus. “Please take this thing seriously. I’ve witnessed it, and respect it. If not, it’s going to come back and bite all of us.”
