Lindsay Ell throws it back to Sonny and Cher days in "wAnt me back" video

No Comments Country Music News

BBR Music Group Lindsay Ell steps back in time for the video for “wAnt me back.”

The video sees the singer transforming into a vintage Hollywood singer, draped in glamorous gowns and fancy accessories, playing a fictionalized version of herself in the duo Eddie and Ell, based on Sonny and Cher.

But underneath the glamour is a woman ready to make her own mark and take the spotlight on her own accord. From a dark, lonely motel room, Eddie watches on a retro TV as Ell makes her solo debut late-night performance of “wAnt me back,” earning her a standing ovation.

“The video captures the story line in which my whole persona changes from an un-confident, held-back woman, to then realizing my own self-power and stepping into it,” Ell describes to video to CMT

“wAnt me back” was co-written by Lindsay, Kane BrownMatt McGinn and Lindsay Rimes. It’s the second single off her current album, heart theory.

Brothers Osborne unveil their 'Skeletons,' including a cover custom-made by John

No Comments Country Music News

EMI Nashville If you check out the cover of Brothers Osborne‘s third album, Skeletons, which is out today, you’re actually looking at a John Osborne original.

TJ and I are very hard-headed and stubborn when it comes to, well, everything, involving Brothers Osborne,” John confesses. “You know, like a picture of just us, like, you know, thumbs up or like, you know, lookin’ all hunky dory, whatever, with our name, it just isn’t our thing.”

“We want to do things different in our own way,” John tells ABC Audio. “So trial and error, trial and error, trial and error and nothing ever quite worked.”

So John set out to see what he could do himself.

“I saw some pictures that looked really cool, this huge keyhole,” he explains. “I was like, you know, ‘I think — I’ve got time off. It’s quarantine. I’m not doing anything.'”

“And I went out to my shed,” he continues. “I had a bunch of spare wood. I got a jigsaw out and I cut a keyhole out of some plywood. And if you look at it, it’s just a piece of three-quarter-inch birch plywood. And I put it on top of another piece of plywood. I did some backlighting through it. And then that’s the original photo.”

“And then we just superimposed TJ and I — which is a picture that [our] sister took,” John adds. “And then [we] superimposed some clouds back there. But I still have the board at my house. It’s a board with just a keyhole cut in it.”

Skeletons features a dozen new songs from the CMA-and-ACM-winning Vocal Duo of the Year, including their current hit, “All Night.”

No Comments Country Music News

Foundry RecordsShenandoah and Lady A will join forces on The Kelly Clarkson Show next week, performing their as-yet-unheard duet, “Every Time I Look at You,” on the show’s Monday episode.

The track was co-penned by Lady A bandmates Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, and it appears on Shenandoah’s upcoming duets project, Every Road.

In addition to their song with Lady A, the hit-making ‘90s duo enlisted an impressive roster of stars to join them for a song on the album. Luke Bryan, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Ashley McBryde and Cody Johnson all make appearances on the record.

So far, the duo has kept the project pretty close to the chest, sharing only its first single with fans. That song is “I’d Take Another One of Those,” a duet with Zac Brown Band.

Every Road will drop in full on November 13.

Kelsea Ballerini spills behind-the-scenes details on her “hole in the bottle” video

No Comments Country Music News

John Shearer/Getty Images for Amazon MusicKelsea Ballerini spills a little tea — er, wine — in a new clip taking fans behind the scenes of the music video for her latest single, “hole in the bottle.”

The singer and the video’s director, Hannah Lux Davis, provide lots of tidbits about filming it, in addition to a few surprising facts about the song itself. For example, Kelsea reveals that “hole in the bottle” was actually written at the very end of a writer’s retreat.

“We had written six other songs and went to dinner to hang and celebrate the last night. Then, after some drinks, came back to the house and jokingly wrote about where in the world all the wine had gone,” Kelsea says. “The next morning, we also listened back and had the biggest smiles on our faces, like we knew we captured the exact energy of my take on a drinking song.”

That’s just the beginning of the behind-the-scenes details. Throughout the clip, Kelsea reveals the fact that she drank real wine for most of the takes in the video, lets fans in on who really painted the featured picture of her dog Dibs, and explains the homage to Britney Spears and Shania Twain in the video’s choreography.

“hole in the bottle” comes off Kelsea’s self-titled third studio album, which came out in March. The song is her current single.
