Dan + Shay are adding a festive original Christmas song to fans’ stockings this year

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LADan + Shay are gearing up for the holiday season in style: The duo announced that they’ve got an original holiday tune called “Take Me Home for Christmas” coming out on Friday.

“It’s been a long year, so we decided to get in the holiday spirit early,” they posted on social media, alongside a teaser video for the song. “We hope that it brings a bit of feel-good into your world…this is going to be a fun era, just sayin’.”

The clip features a small taste of the holiday tune, as well as video footage of the bandmates getting gussied up in Santa suits (complete with white beards) for the holidays.

“Take Me Home for Christmas” will be out at midnight, but you can pre-save it now.

Christmas aside, it’s shaping up to be a busy couple of weeks in Dan + Shay’s world. This morning, the Country Music Association announced that the duo will team up with Justin Bieber for the live premiere of the two acts’ hit single, “10,000 Hours,” at next week’s CMA Awards ceremony.

That collaboration is nominated for Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the 2020 CMAs, and Dan + Shay notched an additional nod in the Vocal Duo of the Year category.

“Then a Girl Walks In”: Shenandoah’s new Blake Shelton collab is a feel-good love song

No Comments Country Music News

Foundry RecordsBlake Shelton is the latest artist featured on a new track from Shenandoah, who’s putting out their star-studded duets album, Every Road, next week. Blake’s contribution to the project comes in the form of a sweet love song called “Then a Girl Walks In.”

The ‘90s hitmaking duo tells People that they started wondering if Blake was a fan of theirs after watching the singer in his hosting gig on NBC’s The Voice.

“We knew Blake must be a Shenandoah fan when he picked one of our songs for the past four seasons in a row on The Voice for his artists to sing,” reveals band mate Mike McGuire. “But we never dreamed we’d have the opportunity to actually do a duet with him personally.

But that opportunity arose at last year’s CMA Awards show. Shenandoah frontman Marty Raybon broached the idea during a casual meeting with Blake ahead of the awards ceremony.  “Send me the song and I’m in,” Blake replied.

It’s a fitting time for Blake’s voice to be featured on a love song, as the singer recently got engaged to his pop superstar girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. In recent months, he and Gwen have put out multiple duet projects of their own that showcase just how in love they are, including “ Nobody but You” and “Happy Anywhere.”

Blake’s just the latest in an impressive lineup of country stars who have signed on to collaborate with Shenandoah. Ahead of the Every Road’s release, fans have already heard duets with Lady A, Zac Brown Band and Ashley McBryde.

Every Road is due out in full on November 13.

Old Dominion, Carly Pearce and Lee Brice + more are just-announced performers at the Tunie Awards

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAThe Tunie Awards — that is, Waffle House and TouchTunes’ awards ceremony for the most-played artists on their jukeboxes — may be one of the quirkiest music awards shows out there, but the lineup of artists scheduled to perform is certainly no joke.

Carly Pearce, Lee Brice, Old Dominion, LoCash and rock group Shinedown have just been announced as performers at the 3rd annual Tunie Awards, taking place on November 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET. They’re joining an already illustrious lineup that includes Luke Combs, Kid Rock and Chris Stapleton on the virtual stage.

In fact, Chris is a favorite at the awards show: He took home a whopping four trophies at last year’s show. He was Waffle House’s most-played country artist in 2019, and claimed all-genre mentions, too, for his 2015 breakout hit, “Tennessee Whiskey.”

Waffle House loves Chris, and the feeling seems to be mutual — last year, he even showed up in person at the 2019 Tunie Awards to accept his trophies.

This year’s Tunies event will be the third annual show of its kind, and will make its debut on virtual platform Stabal. The $3 ticket supports Sweet Relief, an organization dedicated to supporting music industry professionals impacted by financial hardship, illness and, this year, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, some artists will be donating autographed items to support Sweet Relief during the show. Chris has autographed some vinyl in support of the cause, as have Old Dominion, Kid Rock, Lauren Alaina and more.

Jim WrightJon Pardi’s bringing some hard-hitting breakup truth to the small screen tonight when he performs his top-10 hit single, “Ain’t Always the Cowboy,” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The song comes off Jon’s 2019 studio album Heartache Medication, which is nominated in the Album of the Year category at next week’s 2020 CMA Awards show.

It’s shaping up to be a busy couple of weeks for the singer: the CMA announced this morning that Jon’ll also perform a tribute to the late Joe Diffie on the awards show stage during the event.

“Ain’t Always the Cowboy” is the second single to come off of Heartache Medication, the first being the chart-topping title track, which peaked at number-one this February. One year after the album’s release, Jon put out a Deluxe version of Heartache Medication in early October of 2020. It includes two new tracks: “Beer Light,” and a new Western version of “Ain’t Always the Cowboy.”

You can watch Jon’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance tonight on ABC at 11:35 P.M. ET.

No Comments Country Music News

CMA/ABCThe next round of performers for the 2020 CMA Awards has been announced, and the lineup includes a special tribute to a legend that we lost this year.

The show will open with a tribute to the Charlie Daniels, performed by an all-star round-up of artists including Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley and Brothers Osborne. Previously-announced performer Ashley McBryde will also join in on the tribute, as will reigning CMA Musician of the Year and fiddler Jenee Fleenor.

Daniels isn’t the only late legend who’ll be recognized during the ceremony. Kenny Rogers and Joe Diffie, both of whom died this spring, will be honored by performances from Little Big Town and Jon Pardi, respectively.

It’s also been revealed that Jimmie Allen will perform his chart-topping single “Best Shot” during the show. He’s also on deck to present Charley Pride with the 2020 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

Old Dominion will mark the 40th anniversary of the film Urban Cowboy with a performance of Johnny Lee’s “Looking for Love.”

The star-studded cast of performers at the 2020 CMAs doesn’t stop there: Dan + Shay will invite Justin Bieber to the stage for the live premiere of “10,000 Hours,” and Keith Urban will dial in from Australia for a special transpacific performance.

Ingrid Andress, Morgan Wallen and Carly Pearce and Lee Brice will all also take the stage during the show.

The 2020 CMA Awards takes place on Wednesday, November 11 at 8PM ET. You can watch the show on ABC.
