Opa! Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson are officially Greek citizens

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Greece can officially count actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson as their newest citizens.  The two were handed their brand new official Greek passports over the weekend.

The announcement came from Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who made the surprise revelation to Instagram on Sunday and even posed for a photo op with the celebrity couple.

“@ritawilson @tomhanks are now proud Greek citizens!,” The Greek PM happily celebrated in the caption.

The nighttime photo shows Wilson and Hanks flashing their shiny new crimson passports as they huddle close to Mitsotakis and his wife Mareva Grabowski.

It shouldn’t be all that surprising that the celebrity couple sprung for full Greek citizenship, given that Wilson is of Greek descent on her mother’s side.  Her familial roots were put on display during an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?

The two even own a home own the Grecian island Antiparos and vacation there from time to time — most recently for Hanks’ 64th birthday, as reported by People.

In addition, the Greyhound actor was made an honorary Greek Citizen last December.

Now that the two are full citizens, the country has since offered complete citizenship to their entire family.

Dan + Shay tease something major coming at the end of July

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAGet ready, Dan + Shay are getting ready for the end of the month, teasing something big that’ll happen on July 31.

While not revealing too much detail, the “Speechless” duo dropped a teaser trailer that may provide clues as to what they have going on.  The only tangible hint the two gave was the hashtag #ISPGTB.

The teaser video starts off with a man slamming on his brakes and screeching to a halt as he stares at something ahead of him.  It becomes quickly apparent that whatever is happening, it’s in the past, given the style of the cars and clothing seen in the video.

The camera pans to other people idling in the busy street, who then slowly exit their cars one by one — all while staring ahead in complete shock.

The teaser ends as the camera then adopts the perspective of what the people are staring at and it raises up in the air as those on the ground continue staring in total shock.

A website has since gone live which prompts fans to pre-save ISPGTB.

We’ll find out if this is a new song or an entire new album — or something else entirely — on Friday.

New tropical threat in Atlantic as Douglas nears Hawaii

No Comments National News

ABC NewsBy MAX GOLEMBO, ABC News

(NEW YORK) — There is a rare Hurricane Warning for parts of Hawaii Monday morning as Hurricane Douglas passes dangerously close to the state, bringing gusty winds, flooding rain and life threatening surf.

Right now, Douglas is about 50 miles northeast of Lihue, Hawaii, and about 100 miles northwest of Honolulu.

Douglas has winds Monday morning of 90 mph making it a high end Category 1 Hurricane.

This is a pretty rare occasion to have a full blown hurricane pass so close to Hawaii.

Only two hurricanes in recorded history have made landfall in Hawaii, Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and Hurricane Dot in 1959.

There were other hurricanes that tried to make a run at the Hawaiian islands such as Hurricane Lane in 2018 and Hurricane Lester in 2016 but they never made it as close as Douglas is now with winds of 90 mph.

The forecast track takes the eye of Douglas just north of Kauai in the next six to 12 hours, bringing gusty winds, flooding rain and life threatening surf with some minor damage possible on the island.

Meanwhile, Hanna is dissipating over Mexico Monday morning but it also managed to make history on Saturday when it made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane at 6 p.m. EST on Saturday with winds of 90 mph on Padre Island National Seashore, which is about 50 miles south of Corpus Christi.

Hanna brought wind gusts of up to 68 mph to Corpus Christi and 81 mph wind gusts to Baffin Bay Padre Island.

Up to five inches of rain fell in Corpus Christi and the storm surge was in excess of five feet.

Widespread flash flooding and coastal flooding was also reported in the city.

Additionally, Hanna was the earliest “H” storm ever recorded in U.S. history and only the second fourth-named storm to make landfall in the U.S. so early in the season.

The only other fourth-named storm to make landfall in the U.S. this early was a Category 4 hurricane in 1886.

Now, attention turns to the East where a new tropical system is developing in the Atlantic and, in the next 24 hours, it could become a tropical depression or a tropical storm. If it becomes a tropical storm it would be Isaias.

It is still too early to tell where exactly this system will go and how strong it will get, but people living in the northwest Caribbean islands including Puerto Rico should be paying attention to the forecast.

Elsewhere, another heat wave is expected in the Northeast and the East Coast this week.

A Heat Advisory has been issued from North Carolina to Maine where temperatures could get close to 100 degrees.

Naya Rivera's ex husband Ryan Dorsey breaks his silence on her tragic death

No Comments Entertainment News

Greg Doherty/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — After taking time coming to grips with Naya Rivera’s July 8 accidental drowning, ex-husband Ryan Dorsey broke his silence on Saturday regarding her death.

Posting a tender photo of Naya and their four-year-old son Josey in the sunset, Dorsey called her passing “unfair.”

“There’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts,” The 37-year-old actor continued. “I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it.”

Remarking how his last memory of her was of them “in the back swimming with Josey” the day before her disappearance, Dorsey admitted that he is still struggling to find the right words to honor Rivera.

“I’m thankful for our times and our journey that brought us together and gave us the sweetest and kindest smart little boy we could ever hope for,” the Ray Donovan alum expressed, adding how he is now glad he annoyed his ex-wife by taking incessant Snapchat videos of their times together.

“I have hundreds and probably thousands of snaps and videos that Josey will have forever and know his momma loved him more than life, and how much fun we had together as he was growing up,” Dorsey continued. “Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us.”

He concluded with “We will always love you. Love you Meep,” before thanking those who have checked in on and supported his family.

Dorsey imparted some wisdom in relation to Rivera’s death, like “be kind to yourself” and choose forgiveness over grudges.

Overall, he implored, “Cherish the times you have with those you care about.”

Dorsey and Rivera were married for four years.  They divorced in 2018.
