(LOS ANGELES) — Up to 3,000 cock fighting roosters, along with several hundred livestock animals, have been recovered from a California ranch following an investigation into animal cruelty.

The recovery began at approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 3 when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies who were assigned to the Community Partnerships Bureau served a search warrant on a multi-acre ranch in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the operation was part of an investigation related to animal cruelty and possession of game fowl for the purpose of fighting and was conducted in conjunction with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control.

“Several hundred livestock animals are held on the property in various states of health,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “Approximately two to three thousand cock fighting roosters are also being held on the property.

Several occupiers of the property were detained during the operation although the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not disclose their identity or how many suspects were involved.

Authorities said that investigators are on the scene to determine the animals’ ownership and if any crimes were involved and that all of the animals will be inspected and documented by Animal Care and Control officers.

With The (Arena) Tour on hold for now, it's dogs, babies and new homes for Dan + Shay

No Comments Country Music News

Warner Music NashvilleDan + Shay had barely set The (Arena) Tour in motion in March before the COVID-19 pandemic brought it to a halt.

While Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney desperately wanted to be on the road, they had plenty to occupy them at home. Shay’s second son, Ames, was born in February, and Dan and wife Abby had just bought a new home.

“We moved into that house literally the week our tour started,” Dan recalls, “so it was just absolute madness. And that week was crazy in Nashville. There was a tornado…”

“So a lot was going on…” he reflects. “Had this tour continued, we may[‘ve] still be[en] scrambling to get the house ready and [to] figure stuff out.”

Of course, Dan and Abby’s new digs are also home to their beloved rescue pups.

“I feel like every decision we make in our personal lives is motivated by the comfort of our dogs,” Dan tells ABC Audio. “And we moved to a place with a little bit bigger yard, just so they could run around.”

“And I guess if you have a yard that tires out the dogs a little bit more, that really helps us, too. A tired dog is a good dog,” he laughs. “So, yeah, we got them a little bit bigger space and it’s been nice.”

Especially now that their new single, “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” has come out, Dan + Shay are more anxious than ever to get back to work.

“There’s been silver linings to it all,” Dan says. “Unfortunately, we’re missing the road, missing the fans. And we had a good thing going there.”

“But, you know, we’re fingers crossed hoping that it’ll pick back up just like it was in 2021,” he adds.

'Mulan' coming to Disney+

No Comments Entertainment News

Liu Yifei as Mulan/© 2019 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — One of the most bumped-about big budget movie releases is coming home, to Disney+.

Mulan, the live-action re-imagining of the 1998 animated classic, saw its release date moved repeatedly throughout the summer, as the COVID-19 pandemic refused to release its grip on the country.

The film starring Yifei Liu, which was initially supposed to hit theaters in March of 2020, will be made available on Disney+ on September 4 for an added fee of $29.99. The movie will be released theatrically in some overseas markets, including Asia, where theaters are reopening.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Disney CEO Bob Chapek on an investor earnings call, which revealed the company took a COVID-related drubbing to its bottom line; because of theme park closures worldwide alone, the company took a $3.5 billion operating income hit, and an overall loss of $2 billion.

The one bright spot for the House of Mouse, incidentally, was Disney+. Aside from the Mulan news, Chapek noted that the streaming service saw a boom in subscribers thanks to Hamilton and Beyonce’s Black Is King. The exec says Disney+ now has 60.5 million paid subscribers globally.

Penn joked that the pandemic afforded him some “socially liberating factors” regarding the stress-free event.

Penn shares two kids, 29-year-old Dylan Frances and 28-year-old-son Jack, with ex-wife Robin Wright. He was also famously married to Madonna from 1985 to 1989.
