Justin Moore readies 'Live at the Ryman' album, with help from Chris Janson and more special guests

No Comments Country Music News

The Valory Music Co.Justin Moore has always wanted to put out a live album. Now, he’ll finally get the chance, with this fall’s release of Live at the Ryman.

“We had the chance to record our Ryman show…The crowd was unreal,” the singer says in a statement about the new project. “The venue, as we all know, was great, as it always is. Luckily, I didn’t screw it up!”

The 17-track album revisits his first-ever headlining date at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium, a sold-out show that took place in May of 2018. The set list featured performances of Justin’s hits, of course, but he also tipped his hat to his country predecessors by throwing in a few classics by Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings and more.

The singer brought some of his famous country music friends out on stage to join him that night, too. Chris Janson, Ricky Skaggs and David Lee Murphy each join him for a song on the live album.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Justin hopes that Live at the Ryman will help fans get their country show fix, even if they can’t see their favorite artists on tour.

“In this strange time with no live music, I thought this could be fun for our fans right now,” he explains. “Crack a cold one around the house, a campfire, deer camp, the beach and enjoy some live music. Hopefully we have the chance to do it in person soon. Until then, enjoy this live album from my band, my crew and myself from the Ryman.”

Live at the Ryman is due out on September 25. Ahead of release day, Justin dropped three of its tracks: “Country State of Mind (feat. Chris Janson),” “Small Town U.S.A.” and “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.”

Therapy gave Lindsay Ell the confidence to address her assault in her music

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LALindsay Ell’s brand-new album, heart theory, is a step-by-step journey through the stages of grief and loss. Many of the songs are about the dissolution of romantic relationships, but one, “make you,” tells her personal story of surviving two sexual assaults, one at age 13 and one at 21.

The singer tells People that she found the courage to include that story on her album six months ago, after spending a week in an intense residential therapy program.

“I went there thinking I was going to talk about all these other things,” she recalls. “And I ended up talking about this and realizing how much anger and sadness I had within myself that I hadn’t really let come out.”

It was then she realized that her story belonged on heart theory.

“It was after leaving that I was like, ‘Okay, now I am ready to talk about this and to really lay my heart here on the table,’” she adds.

Since then, Lindsay has established her Make You Movement Fund, in support of at-risk youth, domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors. Additionally, proceeds from “make you” will go to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN).

Lindsay’s sophomore album, heart theory, is out today.

No Comments Country Music News

Verge RecordsTrace Adkins announced his next musical chapter in style today with the release of party anthem “Just the Way We Do It,” a loud-and-proud tribute to kicking back, country style.

“Well, that’s all right, get ya some ribs / Wash it all down with a couple of beers,” Trace explains in the sing-a-long chorus. “Ain’t nobody getting hurt, don’t be scared / That’s just the way we do it ‘round here…”

With the release of his new tune, the singer had big news to share: He’s planning the release of his next project, an EP called Ain’t That Kind of Cowboy. The six-track collection will be his first since signing to Verge Records, and follows his 2017 album, Something’s Goin’ On.

“Just the Way We Do It” will be on the EP, and so will the two songs that the singer shared earlier this year: “Better Off” and “Mind on Fishin’.”

Ain’t That Kind of Cowboy comes out October 16. It’s available for pre-order now, with autographed copies and other special merchandise items available at the singer’s online store.

Jamie Foxx and Dominique Fishback explain why "superpowers" weren't the biggest draw for them to sign on to 'Project Power'

No Comments Entertainment News

Skip Bolen/Netflix © 2020(NEW YORK) — Jamie Foxx had a lot good reasons to sign on to his new Netflix thriller Project Power.

The film, which also stars Dominque Fishback as an impressionable drug dealer, follows the Academy Award winner as Art, a former Army Ranger, who’s on the hunt to find his abducted daughter. Foxx tells ABC Audio that being involved in a film about special abilities was a big draw for him.

“The project to me was just super dope,” he says. “Like the idea that you could take a pill and get superpowers. I was like, ‘I ain’t got to read the script. I need to know where the pills at. I need to know where that is.'”

But special powers aside, Foxx says another reason why he decided to take on the role was because he got the opportunity to work with a promising new talent.

“Once we got started, there was this wonderful light that walked into the chemistry process of getting this together. Her name is Dominique Fishback, and she took us to the moon… in the movie,” he says.

According to Foxx, Dominque’s dedication to the role was truly inspiring and made him want to “get up and go to work in the morning.”

“She’s on her way,” he says. “And so that’s what made me want to jump into it.”

The feeling was clearly mutual for Fishback who says working with Foxx was like “getting a chance to fill out [her] childhood dreams” of [starring in] Man on Fire opposite Denzel Washington.

“And I got to do it with Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt,” she says. “So I don’t really think about…the [superpower] pills. I mean that was like the cherry on top.”

Power Project is now available on Netflix.

ABC/Image Group LAUSA Today revealed its list of “100 Women of the Century” this week, and country superstar and Dolly Parton is among the honorees.

The list recognizes not only Dolly’s sizeable achievements as a pop culture icon and status as a songwriting legend, but also notes her philanthropic work with projects like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and her accomplishments as a businesswoman with Dollywood and other tourism efforts.

As one of Tennessee’s “100 Women of the Century,” Dolly is in hallowed company: NASA astronaut Margaret Rhea Seddon, sports legend Pat Summit and the state’s first female prosecutor, Justice Martha Craig Daughtrey, also make the list.
