No Comments Country Music News

Triple 8 MgmtAfter first rescheduling his May 2020 tour stops in the U.K. and Ireland to October, Scotty McCreery has now postponed the shows until next year. The scheduling change is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am so disappointed that we have to postpone our U.K. and Ireland tour yet again, but the safety of my fans, the venue workers and my band and crew remains my first priority,” Scotty explains, adding that he’s already looking forward to next year when he’ll be able to head overseas.

“I cannot wait until May 2021 to get out there! We had so much fun in England on the last trip, and I cannot wait to visit Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland for the first time. Until then, I send much love to all of you there and hope everyone stays safe,” he continues.

Tickets purchased for original tour dates will still be valid in 2021, so fans are encouraged to hang on to their tickets. There are still some seats remaining for most of the shows, though Scotty’s Belfast, Northern Ireland stop on May 11, 2021 is sold out.

New Jewelry line celebrates the fierce females of 'The Mandalorian' Season 2

No Comments Entertainment News

Disney+/Lucasfilm(LOS ANGELES) — For those jonesing for the second-season debut of the Emmy nominated Disney+ hit The Mandalorian this October, some retail therapy might help.

Ashley Eckstein, founder of female fan fashion retailer Her Universe — and voice of Star Wars heroine Ahsoka Tano herself — has teamed up with Allison Cimino, CEO and Designer of RockLove Jewelry, for a new joint collaboration of Star Wars bling that celebrates some of the fierce females that will be seen in Season 2.

Among the female characters honored with necklaces, bangles and rings includes fan favorite, former Jedi Ahsoka, who will be portrayed in live action for the first time by actress Rosario Dawson in Mandalorian Season 2, as well as the series’ mysterious and powerful character known only as The Armorer.

The Armorer’s distinctive Mandalorian helmet has been crafted into a ring by RockLove.

First seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano literally grew into one of the most complex and heralded female characters in that galaxy far, far away. Her character’s distinctive Togrutan head markings have been replicated in blue and white enamel on a silver bangle from Her Universe, as well as a necklace pendant, and a ring, the latter of which sold out in minutes.

Other Star Wars items from the collaboration include a necklace that emulates the medals Princess Leia bestowed upon Han Solo and Luke Skywalker — but famously, not Chewie — following the Battle of Yavin at the end of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope.

Carrie Underwood gears up for NFL’s Sunday Night Football open, revamped for the COVID-19 era

No Comments Country Music News

Joseph LlanesThis fall, Carrie Underwood will star in the 2020 show open for NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the eighth consecutive year.  But this time around, the show will also feature a special behind-the-scenes look into the studio as she records a new version of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL has reimagined its annual show open in order to comply with social distancing regulations: It was produced without extras in the studio or stadium.

Instead of having fans attend in person, the show will highlight virtual content from viewers showing off their team spirit. Additionally, some of the NFL’s biggest stars will pop in remotely to make cameos throughout the event.

The show will premiere on Sunday, September 13 on NBC. It precedes the opening game of the NFL season, which pits the Dallas Cowboys against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hurricane Laura updates: Storm now Category 4 with 'unsurvivable storm surge' expected

No Comments National News

ABC NewsBy KARMA ALLEN and MAX GOLEMBO, ABC News

(NEW YORK) — Laura is nowa Category 4 hurricane with “unsurvivable storm surge” expected in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

“Unsurvivable storm surge with large and destructive waves will cause catastrophic damage from Sea Rim State Park, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana, including Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes,” the NWS said in a statement. “This surge could penetrate up to 30 miles inland from the immediate coastline. Only a few hours remain to protect life and property and all actions should be rushed to completion.”

Parts of eastern Texas and western Louisiana are forecast to see “catastrophic wind damage,” especially in places where the storm’s eyewall makes landfall, the NWS said. Residents are urged to brace for “widespread damaging wind gusts” that will spread well inland across parts of those areas early Thursday morning.

Laura has kept people along the Gulf Coast guessing for days as the projected track continues to change. The storm matured into a Category 3 hurricane in the Gulf and forecasters say it could strengthen to a Category 4 even before it makes landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Here’s how the news is developing today. All times Eastern:

1:52 p.m.: Laura is now a Category 4 storm

Laura has strengthened into an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.

The center of the storm is about 200 miles southeast of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and about 200 miles southeast of Port Arthur, Texas

The storm will bring catastrophic storm surge, extreme winds, and flash flooding to the Gulf Coast tonight, says the National Hurricane Center.

Little time remains to protect life and property, authorities say.

12:56 p.m.: Louisiana officials expect catastrophic events from storm

OEM officials in Louisiana are putting it bluntly to residents: Leave and leave now.

In their final briefing before Laura makes landfall, officials with Louisiana’s Calcasieu Parish say they expect catastrophic events from the storm.

“Short of pulling people out of their homes, we have done everything humanly possible to get people out of Calcasieu Parish,” said Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter. “As much as it pains me, we are quickly getting to the point where you are going to have to hunker down. Public safety is not going to be able to respond.”

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said that while they could protect property from looters, they can’t protect homes from the wind and the storm surge, both of which are expected to be well above the devastating effect that Hurricane Rita had in 2005.

He, too, begged people to leave and leave now.

“There is nothing at my house that is so important in my house that I would stay there,” he said. “I would love to leave. It is not an option for me. It is an option for you.”

In addition to those leaving in their own vehicles, more than 800 people have been bused out of the area.

12:06 p.m.: Storm strength is at high end of Cat 4

The storm is sustaining winds of about 145 mph, putting it near the higher end of a Category 4 hurricane. Winds above 156 mph designate a Category 5 storm.

In an interview with ABC News, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said he woke up Tuesday morning to find Laura’s track had shifted slightly west and closer to Houston, the country’s fourth-largest city with a population of about 7 million.

Officials in Houston and Harris County urged residents to stay off the roads so people evacuating have access to the freeways. Local officials urged all residents in the storm’s path to fill up their gas tanks and generators.

The mayor urged people not to panic. City officials said they don’t expect Laura to be another Hurricane Harvey or Tropical Storm Imelda, which both led to catastrophic flooding. They do, however, expect this storm to be a fast-moving wind event, which could bring a storm surge, structural damage and power outages.

Compounding the situation is the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why Turner told residents to stock up on necessary food, supplies and PPE. He said he anticipates that COVID-19 testing will be suspended until after the storm and that the city won’t be opening mass shelters as it has in years past.

Trump says federal law enforcement, National Guard on way to site of violent protests in Wisconsin

(WASHINGTON) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday tweeted that federal law enforcement and National Guard troops were on their way to Kenosha, Wisconsin, the site of violent protests, to “restore LAW and ORDER!”

He still has not commented directly on the shooting of an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake, that triggered the protests.

Three people were shot and two killed in Kenosha overnight.

“We will NOT stand for looting, arson, violence, and lawlessness on American streets. My team just got off the phone with Governor Evers who agreed to accept federal assistance (Portland should do the same!)…” he tweeted.

Trump has made “law and order” a central theme of the current Republican National Convention and his reelection campaign overall.

First lady Melania Trump called for an end to violent protests in her Rose Garden speech last night as part of the RNC.
