Luke Combs keeps his hit streak going with number-one single, “Lovin’ on You”

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Mark LevineIt seems like Luke Combs can do no wrong on the country charts.

The upstart hitmaker just scored his ninth consecutive number-one single on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with “Lovin’ on You.” It took the song just 12 weeks to get to the top, making for the fastest run to number one of any single of Luke’s career. Previously, his personal record was 13 weeks, courtesy of 2019’s “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

With his nine-song run, Luke is tied with Thomas Rhett for the longest consecutive string of number-one hits on the Country Airplay chart. Thomas netted his ninth chart-topping hit with “Beer Can’t Fix,” a duet with Jon Pardi, earlier this summer.

“Lovin’ on You” follows Luke’s most recent chart-topper, “Does to Me,” a duet with Eric Church.

Both of those songs, as well as “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” are featured on Luke’s sophomore album, What You See is What You Get. Last month, the singer announced plans to unveil a deluxe version of that album in the fall, featuring five new tracks.

It’s been a big week for Luke thus far. Not only is he celebrating a number-one song, he also notched six 2020 CMA Award nominations, including his first-ever Entertainer of the Year nod.

(NEW YORK) — Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes is getting a new ring — a wedding ring!

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Brittany Matthews on Tuesday.

Mahomes, 24, proposed to his high school sweetheart right after his team finally received their Super Bowl LIV rings at Arrowhead Stadium. Meaning, when he received his ring, he made sure Matthews had one to match.

The personal trainer was actually the one to reveal exactly how her now-fiancé outdid his own ring ceremony. In a series of Instagram stories, the 25-year-old documented moments from the special day.

The quarterback apparently led her to one of the stadium’s sky boxes, which he had decked out from floor to ceiling with white flowers — including a flurry of petals to cover the ground — and a light up sign that asked “Will you marry me.”

Matthews captioned that particular snap, “this happened today,” along with the heart eyes and a sobbing emoji.

The next Instagram story update revealed her impressive and gorgeous engagement ring, which touts a massive emerald cut diamond and two diamond-studded bands.

Mahomes wasn’t done after popping the big question. The personal trainer revealed that he then set up a special candlelit dinner out on their patio to celebrate their upcoming nuptials. “My heart is so full! I love this man so incredibly much and today was so special,” gushed Matthews. “Couldn’t imagine this day being anymore perfect.”

Just the day before, the two celebrated her 25th birthday.

The couple has not announced their wedding date.

'Grey's Anatomy' reportedly set to begin production on season 17

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Mike Rosenthal(LOS ANGELES) — Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is officially open for business again as Grey’s Anatomy will reportedly begin shooting its 17th season this month, according to Variety.

Exactly when the show will begin production is still up in the air, though taping could start in Los Angeles as soon as next week, according to the industry trade.

Production on Grey‘s 16th season was shut down in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, shortening the season by four episodes.

A little less than a month ago, Grey‘s star Ellen Pompeo hinted on Twitter that production on the long-running medical drama could “start in a few weeks.”

Grey’s Anatomy would join other ABC shows, including The Goldbergs, A Million Little Things, The Good Doctor and Big Sky, which have already returned to production.

Kelsea Ballerini knows “something beautiful” will come from her CMA snub disappointment

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAThe 2020 CMA Awards nominees were unveiled this week, and lots of country stars had reason to walk away thrilled. Miranda Lambert led the pack with seven nominations, Luke Combs scored his first-ever Entertainer of the Year nod, and Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, Jimmie Allen and pop star Justin Bieber all celebrated the first nominations of their career.

But not everyone was celebrating after the nominations came out. There were a couple of glaring snubs, too: Neither Kelsea Ballerini nor Kane Brown are anywhere to be seen on the list.

It was a pretty shocking omission for Kelsea, who failed to land a Female Artist of the Year mention for the first time since 2015. She also had ample material for consideration in Album, Song and Music Video categories, having dropped her third studio project, Kelsea, in March.

After the nominees were announced, Kelsea addressed the snub on social media, saying that although she was disappointed, she was trying to keep things in perspective.

“Last time this happened, I wrote ‘Homecoming Queen’ the next day about the feeling,” she wrote, referencing Kelsea’s emotionally potent first single. “Something beautiful will undoubtedly come from the current disappointment.”

She went on to mention those who did receive nods. “Congratulations to my friends & peers that got nominations. Proud to be a part of the country family, always,” Kelsea added.

Other country stars rallied around Kelsea in support, including Old Dominion, Danielle Bradbery and Kane.

“Hold your head up,” replied Kane, who has yet to receive a single CMA nomination in any category despite his impressive catalogue of hits.

Kelsea has been nominated for a total of seven CMA awards over the course of her career but has yet to win a trophy.

Kristen Bell shares the adorable way her daughter celebrated husband Dax Shepard's 15th sobriety anniversary

No Comments Entertainment News

Nathan Congleton/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — It’s been 15 years since Dax Shepard committed to a sober lifestyle and his daughter marked that milestone in the sweetest way on Tuesday.

Actress Kristen Bell shared the adorable card and illustration seven-year-old Lincoln made, explaining, “Today is my husband’s 15th sobriety birthday. My daughter woke him up with this sign, and a sketch of the one and only Ronald Weasley(absolutely random, and also perfect).”

The card, written on a plain piece of copy paper, had “Happy sobriety birthday [daddy,]” written in red marker.  As for the accompanying illustration of Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series, it looks to be drawn on a torn piece of cardboard.

Obviously, the gesture meant the world to both parents as Bell gushed, “Happy birthday Daxy. Thank you for dedicating your life to the hard and wonderful work of sobriety, so that we could share it with you.”

Actresses Octavia Spencer, Mandy Moore and Mindy Kaling cheered on Shepard, with the latter expressing in the comments section, “Wow, this is so awesome.”

Shepard has remained upfront over the years regarding his recovery from alcohol and drug addiction and frequently speaks about his past experiences.

In an episode of his podcast Armchair Expert, which he recorded last week with actor Rob Lowe — who recently marked being 30-years sober — the Bless This Mess star admitted that he doesn’t regret his past experiences.  But, Shepard admitted that doesn’t want to touch drugs or alcohol ever again.

Shepard also admitted that, when his daughters come of age, he would be open to them experimenting with marijuana and magic mushrooms.

However, he instantly drew the line at harder substances by affirming, “just don’t do cocaine or opiates.”
