Chris Evans breaks social media silence following nude photo leak

• No Comments • Entertainment News

Dan MacMedan/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Leave it to Chris Evans to have a sense of humor — even after he was the butt of all the jokes after appearing to accidentally leak a nude photo of himself over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Captain America star shared a video with his millions of Instagram followers without editing it, revealing a gallery of videos and pictures, including one believed to be of his junk. He remained silent on the topic, that is until Monday night, when the 39-year-old actor broke his social media silence to deliver an important message.

“Now that I have your attention…. VOTE Nov 3rd!!!” he tweeted.

Evan’s accidental post over the weekend was quickly deleted, but that didn’t stop some of the witty commentary surrounding the snapshot. His Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo chimed in on the conversation tweeting, “@ChrisEvans Bro, while Trump is in office there is NOTHING you could possibly do to embarrass yourself. See… silver lining.”

His brother, Scott, also poked fun, and jokingly asked, “Was off social media for the day yesterday. So. What’d I miss?”

"I'm really curious": Reba McEntire can't wait to see how the ACM Awards adapt to a new kind of show

• No Comments • Country Music News

ABC/Mark SeligerWhen the lights come up on the 2020 ACM Awards this week, the show will look pretty different than usual. For one thing, the ACMs are taking place in Nashville this time around, instead of their usual Las Vegas venue.

For another, there won’t be any fans or audience members in the stands. Instead, the show will broadcast live from three Music City venues, as part of its focus on safety and social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

And even though Reba McEntire knows it’ll be different, she also knows that challenge can be the key to creativity, especially with a host as talented and seasoned as Keith Urban. Reba knows a thing or two about the gig: She’s hosted the ACM Awards 16 times, more than any other artist!

“The best thing about Keith Urban is he’s an entertainer and he’s going to make the best of the situation that he has been handed,” Reba tells ABC Audio. “So I think what’s going to happen is we’re gonna find new ways of doing the awards shows that are probably going to be more fun, more creative.”

As for what exactly that looks like? Reba says she’s as curious to find out as the fans are.

“But they’ve always been successful in putting on a great, wonderful, entertaining, colorful show. And I don’t see that this year’s gonna be any different,” she points out. “I’m just like you. I wanna see how they pull it off.”

To find out how the show unfolds, tune into CBS on Wednesday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

'Dancing with the Stars' season 29 recap: Carole Baskin disappoints as Skai Jackson and Justina Machado shine

• No Comments • Entertainment News

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — Dancing with the Stars returned with a mighty roar on Monday and a fresh array of hopefuls competing for the coveted Mirrorball trophy.  With a new season came some changes to the familiar ballroom, complete with a new face at the judge’s table, Derek Hough filling in for Len Goodman — who is unable to travel out of London –and, of course, Tyra Banks making her flashy debut as the show’s newest host.

Also, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there was no live audience to help usher in the season — a first in series’ history.

Monday’s most anticipated moment came when Tiger King star Carole Baskin stepped onto the ballroom floor, pretty in pink with her signature flower crown, alongside pro dancer Pasha Pashkov.  While many wondered if the big cat lover would turn into this season’s top dog, Baskin did her best to keep up doing the Paso Doble to Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” but she fell to the bottom of the pack with a disappointing score of 11/30.

Meanwhile, a team effort from actresses Skai Jackson and Justina Machado set the bar for the season as the two successfully asserted themselves as the acts to beat.  Both ladies closed out the first night sharing first place with a high score of 21/30.

Jackson, who is also the youngest star to ever compete on DWTS, Tangoed to the top thanks to the expert guidance from her dance partner — current Mirrorball champ Alan Bersten.  The Disney Channel star shined on the ballroom with her fiery routine to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.”

One Day at a Time actress Machado made sure to bring the heat (and her SAG award) for her first performance alongside dance partner Sasha Farber.  Her impressive hip shaking allowed her to Cha Cha her way to the top as she demanded “Respect” while dancing to Aretha Franklin.

Still, several other competitors made sure to let Machado and Jackson know to not get too cozy in first place.   Catfish host Nev Schulman stunned with his classy and breezy Foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” — earning rave reviews from all three judges. He, alongside former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe, elbowed their way into second place, both scoring a well-deserved 20/30.

In addition, Monica Aldama — head coach on the Netflix hit CHEER — showed that she not only can dominate the mat, but can also tear up the dance floor with her energetic Foxtrot to Rascall Flatts’ “My Wish,” finishing in third with a noteworthy 19/30.

Dancing with the Stars returns next Tuesday, September 22, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.  Scores from Monday night will be combined with Tuesday’s scores before the series announces its first elimination.

Here are the current standings:

Tied for first:
Skai Jackson, Disney Channel star, with Alan Bersten — 21/30
Justina Machado, One Day at a Time star, with Sasha Farber — 21/30

Nev Schulman, host of Catfish, with Jenna Johnson — 20/30
Kaitlyn Bristowe, former star of The Bachelorette star, with Artem Chigvintsev — 20/30
Monica Aldama, head coach on Netflix’s CHEER, with Val Chmerkovskiy — 19/30
Johnny Weir, Olympic figure skater, with Britt Stewart –18/30
Anne Heche, TV and film actress, with Keo Motsepe — 18/30
Jeannie Mai, host of The Real, with Brandon Armstrong  — 18/30
AJ McLean, member of Backstreet Boys, with Cheryl Burke — 18/30
Jesse Metcalfe, actor, with Sharna Burgess — 18/30
Vernon Davis, Super Bowl champion, with Peta Murgatroyd — 17/30
Nelly, Grammy Award-winning rapper, with Daniella Karagach — 16/30
Chrishell Stause, Netflix’s Selling Sunset star, with Gleb Savchenko — 12/30

Lowest score:
Carole Baskin, Big Cat Rescue owner and star of Tiger King, with Pasha Pashkov — 11/30

Hurricane Sally strengthens to Category 2 as it approaches Gulf Coast

• No Comments • National News

ABC NewsBy MAX GOLEMBO and MELISSA GRIFFIN, ABC News

(NEW YORK) — Hurricane Sally has strengthened into a Category 2 storm and is expected to strike the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, as four other storms rock the Atlantic.

President Donald Trump approved emergency declarations for both Alabama and Mississippi Monday evening.

Sally is the seventh hurricane to form this season and was moving west-northwest with wind gusts up to 100 mph as of Monday evening. A “life threatening” storm surge up to 11 feet and rain up to 24 inches is expected to hit the Gulf Coast over the next 24 to 36 hours, according to the forecast.

As of 5 pm ET, the hurricane was about 105 miles east-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Sally is one of five tropical storms that are simultaneously moving through the Atlantic Ocean, an event that has not taken place in almost 50 years. A tropical wave is over the Gulf of Mexico, while Hurricane Paulette and Tropical Storms Rene, Teddy and Vicky are out further in the Atlantic Ocean.

Sally is expected to continue to strengthen over the next 24 hours before it makes landfall Tuesday. The current forecast has the storm making landfall near or east of Biloxi, Mississippi, on Tuesday evening as a Category 2 hurricane with 110 mph winds.

Storm surge remains a big threat as Sally makes landfall. Because of its slow speed, more water could pile up in the bays and inlets along the Gulf Coast.

Hurricane warnings have been issued across eastern Louisiana, coastal Mississippi and Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. New Orleans, Biloxi, and Mobile are included in these warnings.

Flash flood watches extend as far north as Birmingham, Alabama, as Sally is expected to move slowly across the state through Wednesday with heavy rain.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has issued a state of emergency, saying, “bad weather is nothing to take lightly.”

Biloxi Mayor Andrew Gilich ordered all casinos to close and urged residents to prepare for the storm.

“Please take action. Secure your property. Know that low-lying areas will see flooding, and we may have an interruption in power as the winds pick up. This is not our first rodeo, but residents need to have a plan and follow that plan,” Gilich said in a statement.

Storm surge warnings are in effect for Port Fourchon, Louisiana, to the Florida panhandle, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas and Lake Borgne, as well as Mobile Bay.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has deployed the Texas A&M Task Force 1 to Louisiana at the request of FEMA in preparation for Sally.

Flooding from rainfall is another major threat with Sally because of its slow speed, and some areas could see 15 to 20 inches of rain in the next several days.

Elsewhere, Hurricane Paulette hit Bermuda and is moving away from the island, leaving behind strong winds and torrential rain.

The hurricane is expected to head east and not make further landfall.

Elsewhere in the tropics, there is a new tropical storm, Teddy, which is forecast to become a major hurricane by this weekend.

The storm is moving in the general direction of Bermuda, but it is too early to say if Bermuda will get hit again.

Additionally, Tropical Storm Vicky has formed in the eastern Atlantic, becoming the 20th named storm of the 2020 hurricane season. That storm is currently in open ocean and not threatening any major landmass.

Vicky is the earliest 20th named storm on record. The previous record for reaching 20 named storms in a hurricane season was in 2005, on Oct. 5.
