No Comments Entertainment News

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — Marvel fans, rejoice! You’ll finally get to see Scarlett Johansson in action again as Natasha Romanoff on July 9.  The pandemic-delayed stand-alone Black Widow film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ Premiere Access on that date.

The film was initially supposed to debut May 1, 2020, before it was bumped further in the year, and then ultimately moved to 2021 — but its debut date had remained a mystery to Marvel movie fans until now.

Marvel Studios’ parent company, Disney, made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, and also revealed that on May 28, the live-action 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella — starring Emma Stone in the title role — will get a theatrical/Disney+ Premiere Access debut.

Furthermore, it was announced that Disney/Pixar’s Luca will debut exclusively on Disney+ on June 18.

The announcement comes on the heels of the successful simultaneous theatrical/Premiere Plus releases of Disney’s Mulan last year, and recently, the animated Raya and the Last Dragon

Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, said in a statement, “Today’s announcement reflects our focus on providing consumer choice and serving the evolving preferences of audiences.”

He added, “By leveraging a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic marketplace that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, we will continue to employ the best options to deliver The Walt Disney Company’s unparalleled storytelling to fans and families around the world.”

Disney is the parent company of ABC Audio & ABC News.

(HOUSTON) — A fourteenth lawsuit filed against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson calls the 25-year-old a “serial predator.”

That lawsuit, filed Monday night, alleges that Watson “assaulted and harassed Plaintiff by exposing himself to her and touching her with his penis.” The incident allegedly took place in California, only the second of 14 accusations of sexual assault and other inappropriate conduct against Watson to take place outside of the Houston area.

The accuser, a traveling massage therapist, alleges that when she arrived at the address provided by Watson, he led her to a room and “locked the doors behind him.” She says Watson forced her hand onto his genitals during a massage, later telling her “I will not have you sign a [non-disclosure agreement], but don’t ever talk about this.”

Last week, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said that “the matter is under review.” The league likely investigating whether Watson violated the personal conduct policy.

Watson’s attorney Rusty Hardin said on Friday that the allegations against the quarterback are “meritless.”

In a statement posted online last week, Watson insisted that he has “never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect.”

Kacey Musgraves, Garth Brooks & more to appear in 'Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute' on Netflix

No Comments Country Music News

Courtesy of Netflix Each non-pandemic year, MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy, stages a star-studded benefit gala that pays tribute to a top musical artist named Person of the Year.  These are invite-only events that the public never sees, and they’ve very rarely been released after the fact.  But Netflix is about to change all that with Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute.

In 2019, MusiCares named Dolly Parton its Person of the Year with the traditional gala, which featured stars from many different genres all singing Dolly’s famous songs including Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, and many more.

Hosted by Little Big Town, the show sees Kacey and Katy Perry teaming up on “Here You Come Again,” Garth and Trisha singing “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You” and Mavis Staples, Leon Bridges and Jon Batiste performing “Not Enough.”

Additionally, Chris lends his voice to “9 to 5,” while Dolly’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, joins forces with Shawn Mendes and Mark Ronson on Dolly’s classic duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream,” and Yolanda Adams offers a powerful rendition of “I Will Always Love You.” Dolly herself takes the stage with Linda Perry to deliver “Coat of Many Colors.”

“I am so happy that Netflix is going to be showing the MusiCares tribute to me. MusiCares has done so much for the people in this industry and continues to be a beacon of light for those in need,” Dolly says in a statement. “It was such a joy and a humbling experience to be able to sit and watch all of the great artists singing songs that I had written or had been a part of.”

Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute premieres on Netflix on April 7.

Anna Faris and Gwyneth Paltrow reflect on the lessons divorce taught them

No Comments Entertainment News

Carlos Tischler/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Anna Faris sat down with actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently, where the two ladies discussed their previous marriages and what divorce taught them.

In the newest Anna Faris Is Unqualified podcast episode, Faris, 44, opened up about ending her marriages with actor Chris Pratt and Ben Indra.

“My two other marriages were with actors and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness,” the House Bunny star explained. “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability.”

“Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn’t handle that very well, I don’t think,” the actress furthered. “I hope I’ve grown from that.”

Faris wed Indra in 2004 and divorced four years later.  The actress then wed Pratt in 2009 and the two welcomed a son named Jack, who is now eight, before dissolving their marriage in 2018.

The two have since agreed to co-parent their son.

Pratt and Faris have since moved on, with Faris set to wed cinematographer Michael Barrett.  As for the Guardians of the Galaxy star, he married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and, a year later, welcomed daughter Lyla Maria.

As for Faris’ podcast guest Paltrow, the Iron Man star reflected on her divorce from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, of whom she was married to for 13 years and share children Apple, 16, and Moses, 14/

“I really — for a long time —  was choosing men and trying to work s***out with them that I had no business trying to do in a romantic relationship. It was work I needed to do myself,” noted Paltrow, 48.  “In a divorce, I’ve learned so much from something I wanted least in the world.”

“I have learned more about myself through that process than I could have imagined,” added the Oscar winner, who has since wed producer Brad Falchuk.

Oregon State University president submits resignation over role in Les Miles scandal

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) — Oregon State University president F. King Alexander has submitted his resignation, effective April 1 if accepted, over his role in a sexual misconduct scandal at Louisiana State University.

Alexander had been placed on probation last week after an independent investigation released earlier this month into alleged sexual misconduct at LSU. The report found a “serious institutional failure,” and detailed the school’s shortcomings when it came to reporting incidents of athletics-related sexual misconduct and abuse.

Former LSU athletic director Joe Alleva recommended in 2013 that then-head football coach Les Miles be fired, following accusations of inappropriate behavior with female student workers, according to the report. It was also determined that Alexander was aware of the allegations against Miles when he took the job at LSU in 2013.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times reported that Alexander has said he was advised by attorneys not to fire Miles, and that he was unable to dismiss him because LSU’s governing board had made the decision to retain Miles before Alexander took office.

Miles continued to coach at LSU until he was fired in 2016. He had coached the last two seasons at the University of Kansas, before being let go earlier this month.

In the process of firing Miles, Kansas paid a nearly $2 million buyout.
