(WOLFE CITY, Texas) — The entire interaction between Texas police officer Shaun Lucas and the 31-year-old Black man he shot and killed Saturday was captured in police body camera footage, according to the arrest affidavit released by investigators Wednesday.

Lucas, who is white, is facing murder charges following the incident at a gas station in Wolfe City. The investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers.

Lucas, 22, responded to a domestic dispute call at the gas station’s convenience store around 8:24 p.m. Saturday, according to the affidavit. Price’s family says Price was attempting to break up the dispute and didn’t threaten anyone.

Based on the bodycam footage, which has not been released to the public, the affidavit says that when Lucas arrived at the scene, Price greeted him and came “very close to Officer Lucas, asking ‘You doing good?’ multiple times while extending his hand in a handshake gesture.”

“Price apologized for broken glass on the ground and stated someone had tried to ‘wrap me up,'” the affidavit said.

Lucas told investigators that he thought that Price was intoxicated and attempted to detain Price, but Price allegedly stated, “I can’t be detained,” the affidavit said.

The officer then tried to detain Price “by grabbing his arm and using verbal commands,” but was unsuccessful, the affidavit said. He then produced his Taser, according to the affidavit.

Lucas warned Price to comply or he would use his Taser, and when Price walked away, the officer fired the Taser, the affidavit said.

While being tased, Price walked toward Lucas and tried to reach for the weapon, at which point the officer took out his service weapon and fired four times, according to the affidavit.

Price died later that night at the hospital.

The affidavit concluded that the officer “did then and there intentionally and knowingly cause the death of Price by discharging a firearm.”

Lucas was arrested Monday night on murder charges and held on $1 million bond.

A statement released Monday by the Texas Rangers said that “The preliminary investigation indicates that the actions of Officer Lucas were not objectionably reasonable.”

On Tuesday, Lucas retained attorney Robert Rogers, who defended Dallas police officer Amber Guyger against similar charges last year.

Guyger was convicted of murder after she accidentally entered the apartment of her upstairs neighbor, Botham Jean, and fatally shot him when she mistook him for an intruder, on Sept. 6, 2018. Rogers argued that Guyger perceived Jean as a deadly threat and thus committed no crime.

In a statement on Saturday’s shooting, Rogers said, “Officer Lucas only discharged his weapon in accordance with Texas law when he was confronted with an aggressive assailant who was attempting to take his Taser.”

“It’s just — this is just — I can’t wrap my brain around this,” Lucas’ stepfather told Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA Tuesday. “He’s a good kid. He’s devastated. He’s devastated for everybody involved.”

The Hunt County District Attorney’s office said Tuesday that the investigation into the incident is continuing.

Morgan Wallen's non-socially-distanced partying costs him his spot on 'Saturday Night Live'

• No Comments • Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAMorgan Wallen won’t appear as the musical guest this weekend on Saturday Night Live as planned, after TikTok videos showed him participating in non-socially-distanced partying in Tuscaloosa after the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game.

The “Whiskey Glasses” hitmaker made the announcement on Instagram Wednesday evening, as he was already in New York City preparing for the show.

“I got a call from the show letting me know that I will no longer be able to play,” he revealed. “And that’s because of COVID protocols, which I understand.”

“I’m not positive for COVID,” he added, “but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted and they have obviously affected my long term goals and my dreams.”

Morgan apologized to his fans, his team, and SNL, saying he respects the decision and knows he “put them in jeopardy,” admitting, “I think I have some growing up to do.”

“I think I’ve lost myself a little bit,” he reflected. “I’ve tried to find joy in the wrong places, and I don’t know, it’s left me with less joy. So I’m gonna go try to work on that. I’m gonna take a step back from the spotlight for a little while and go work on myself.”

Morgan closed by saying SNL producer Lorne Michaels had encouraged him, saying “we’ll find another time to make this up,” before signing off by thanking those who have sent “messages of encouragement” as he’s “taking… a lot of heat.”

It’s been quite a roller coaster year for the East Tennessee native, with both “More Than My Hometown” and “7 Summers” climbing the country chart, with the latter even finding pop success.

At the same time, he’s also revealed he fathered a son, and been arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in downtown Nashville.

Josh Turner throws it back to the ‘90s with a Club Dance-inspired “I Can Tell by the Way You Dance” video

• No Comments • Country Music News

MCA NashvilleJosh Turner is giving fans ‘90s flashbacks with the new music video for his cover of Vern Gosdin’s “I Can Tell by the Way You Dance.”

The clip takes its inspiration from ‘90s country TV program Club Dance, a show that followed real-life amateur dancers through a variety of line dances, swing and more styles. With its vintage feel and cast members decked out in ‘90s-wear, it’s tempting to believe that Josh is using found footage — until the singer steps out onstage, performing his new version of the track.

“I Can Tell by the Way You Dance” comes off of Josh’s new album, Country State of Mind. An ode to the artists that the singer cites as his “Mount Rushmore of Country Music,” the album is full of Josh’s take on classic country songs.

Many of the artists he covers, like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, have well-established legacies. Others, like Vern, have been lost to time a little bit, but the singer says he hopes to introduce a new generation of listeners to the music he loves.

“I’ve always felt [‘I Can Tell by the Way You Dance’] was ahead of its time and never got the attention it deserved,” Josh admits. “I did it in my sets when I first started out, and I’ve always wanted to give it a modern spin. I’m so thankful I got to meet Vern a couple of times, and I hope I did him proud on this one.”

Josh’s music video was filmed at Music City venue The Nashville Palace.

'Remember the Titans' stars Wood Harris and Ryan Hurst reflect on a racist encounter during filming

• No Comments • Entertainment News

Buena Vista/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Remember the Titans actors Wood Harris and Ryan Hurst have reunited to discuss their classic film, and how it remains relevant to the ongoing fight against racial injustice.

The duo played real-life football players Julius Campbell Jr. and Gerry Bertier in the 2000 film, which you may already know is based on the real-life integration story of the 1971 T. C. Williams High School football team in Alexandria, Virginia, under its first Black coach, played by Oscar-winner Denzel Washington.

In an interview with GQ, Hurst, who is white, and Harris, who is Black, remembered different encounters with an unnamed white woman while filming, noting how they were treated differently in her presence.

“We went in there, I sat down, and I was talking with her and she was on her elbows leaning close to me,” Hurst recalled. “Then Wood walked over and she moved her chair back a little, leaned back, crossed her legs, crossed her arms and Wood looked over at me and nodded at me.”

In that moment, Hurst says he understood the intentional discrimination against his co-star and friend. But more importantly, the encounter taught him about racism.

“It just showed me, it doesn’t matter how socially aware [you are]. Experientially, as a white man, you’re born to be ignorant,” Hurst said.

Harris said he was “glad” to have created a film that is “apropos to the times” and today’s Black Lives Matter movement.

“We told the right story. It’s like perfect vision. You can rub your eyes and see clearly if you want to,” the Empire actor said. “I feel like Remember the Titans is a contribution in some way to that path that’s undeveloped — it’s a film that gets to stick around and be a part of this developed country.”

'The Conners' deal with pandemic lockdown in season three trailer

• No Comments • Entertainment News

ABC(NEW YORK) — The Conners has seldom been a show to shy away from problems we regular folks face, and the season three trailer for the hit ABC sitcom shows it: just like us, the blue-collar tribe’s dealing with the pandemic.

ET’s got the exclusive trailer, which shows the already seriously dysfunctional family getting on one another’s nerves even more than usual.

“If it’s death, I’m kissing him right on the mouth,” John Goodman’s Dan Conner says when the doorbell rings.

There’s even a shout-out to former Roseanne co-star George Clooney.  After a flashback that shows Laurie Metcalf’s Jackie bowling, and flirting, with Clooney’s character, present-day Jackie declares, “Man, I shoulda hit that ’til I broke it.”

The trailer ends with the entire Conner extended family sprawled in the den, with Dan doing his best to buck everyone up.

“We’re Conners,” he proclaims.  “And we’re gonna get through this the way we always do.  We’re gonna watch TV, drink beer, and we’re gonna blame all our troubles on the government.”

Season three of The Conners premieres Wednesday, October 21 at 9:00 ET/8:00 CT on ABC.
