Maren Morris shares her favorite 'Arrested Development' line in remembrance of Jessica Walters

No Comments Country Music News

ABCIn the wake of actor Jessica Walters’ death on Wednesday night, Maren Morris was among the celebrities to share remembrances of her talent and legacy on social media.

Maren shared a favorite memory from beloved TV comedy Arrested Development, in which Walters played the quirky, vodka-soaked family matriarch, Lucille Bluth. While there are plenty of quips and one-liners to choose from the show’s five seasons, Maren picked one that she described as “one of the funniest lines still ever delivered.”

“Michael: Get rid of the Seaward,” Maren continued. “Lucille: I’ll leave when I’m good and ready.”

Maren’s penchant for sitcoms like Arrested Development is well-documented: In 2018, she and her husband, fellow singer Ryan Hurd, recreated Jim and Pam’s memorable wedding scene from The Office during a trip to Niagara Falls.

Meanwhile, in music news, it’s been a busy week for Maren: She’s featured as a background vocalist on Taylor Swift’s new version of “You All Over Me,” which drops on Friday.

She and Ryan also celebrated their son Hayes’ first birthday this week, sharing a series of pictures of his Peter Rabbit-themed party on her Instagram stories.

Riker BrothersIt’s another little “Lady” on the way for Brett Young and his wife, Taylor.

The singer announced his second child’s gender during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, sharing the news with help from a snapshot of his first child, Presley.

“Since my wife and baby couldn’t be here, I thought it would be a fun way to at least use a picture,” Brett said, revealing an image of one-year-old Presley in a bathtub full of pink, white and gray balls. “I don’t know if you guys can tell — there aren’t any blue balls in the tub with Presley.”

Brett and Taylor will now be parents to two girls, and the singer said he’s already coming up with ways to even out the gender imbalance in the house.

“I need to get boy dogs or something,” he joked.

But Brett’s already an expert in being a girl dad, especially from a musical perspective: His sweet and poignant current single, “Lady,” is currently a top five hit at country radio.

The couple welcomed Presley in October of 2019. They announced in January that their second child will arrive this summer.

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) — Emmy-winning actress Jessica Walter died at her home in New York City on Wednesday, ABC Audio has confirmed. She was 80.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” her daughter, Brooke Bowman, said in a statement. “A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off.  While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Walter’s career spanned decades — she won an Emmy in 1975 for her starring role in the police drama Amy Prentiss — but her talents were introduced to a new generation thanks to her role as boozy socialite and matriarch Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development, and as dysfunctional mother and spy agency head Malory Archer in FXX’s hit animated series, Archer

About the former, Walter told ABC Audio in 2018, “Did I ever think I’d be sitting here 15 years later talking about it? No. But oh, it’s wonderful.”

Walter also starred in Clint Eastwood’s 1971 film directorial debut Play Misty for Me, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination.  Other film roles included 1984’s The Flamingo Kid.

U2's Bono, Wanda Sykes, and other celebs promote COVID vaccine access in animated 'Pandemica'

No Comments Entertainment News

Courtesy of ONE(LONDON) — Bono is among a variety of celebrities who have lent their voices to an new animated series called Pandemica that was created to promote the importance of making the COVID-19 vaccine available globally to help bring an end to the pandemic.

The series was launched Thursday by the ONE campaign, the global health and anti-poverty organization co-founded by the U2 frontman.  You can see it on ONE’s official website and YouTube channel.

Other celebs who have contributed their voices to the series include Penélope Cruz, Connie Britton, Nick Kroll, Kumail Nanjiani, David Oyelowo, Michael Sheen, and Wanda Sykes.

Pandemica depicts various animated characters stuck in situations and areas where they’re constantly being prevented from getting the vaccine. So far, seven 30-second episodes are available, most of which feature Bono’s voice reading the tag line, “If the vaccine isn’t everywhere, this pandemic isn’t going anywhere.”

In a statement, Bono said, “Pandemica‘s animated world animates a simple truth — that where you live shouldn’t determine whether you get these life-saving shots. Even while many of us still wait our turn, we need to commit to making sure that billions of people around the world aren’t left at the back of the line.”

He adds, “It’s the right thing to do, obviously, but it’s also the only way out of this pandemic for all of us.”

Adds ONE campaign CEO Gayle Smith, “This virus has waged war on the world, and we need to fight back with all we’ve got. Vaccine access isn’t just about what’s fair, it’s also about what’s smart — we can’t end a global pandemic until we stop the virus from spreading and mutating everywhere.”

Pandemica is being released in 12 countries and has been subtitled or translated into six languages, besides English.
