Jim Spellman/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Kristen Bell admits that quarantining with two young children was not an easy task, which is why she revealed what kept her from losing her mind while staying under the same roof when the nation was on pause.
TheGood Place alum recently released her new CBD skincare line and, during its virtual launch, dished about the importance of sneaking in some precious me time every day.
“One thing I’ve learned during this pandemic is that I really like and need to take baths,” admitted Bell. “The only time I am allowed to lock the door in my house is when I’m taking a bath.”
The Golden Globe nominee made the case for all moms — or any stressed parent — to make an effort to carve out a portion of their day and put themselves first.
“Self-care is not something to be ‘event-ized,'” explained the 40-year-old mom of two via Page Six. “It’s something I need daily to keep my sanity intact.”
The Frozen 2 star added that, “Self-care isn’t leaving the house for a manicure with your girlfriends once a month. That’s just leaving the house for a manicure with your girlfriends once a month.”
Bell says people need to make an effort to focus on themselves every day, even if it’s something as simple as taking a bath and closing the door so no one barges in with an interruption.
She and husband Dax Shepard share two daughters, five-year-old Delta and seven-year-old Lincoln.
Bell’s CBD Skincare line Happy Dance — of which she teamed up with Lord Jones to create — is available now and one percent of all sales benefit the A New Way of Life Reentry Project.
Courtesy of CMTAshleyMcBryde has been added as the third and final host of the 2020 CMT Music Awards, joining Kane Brown and Modern Family actor Sarah Hyland.
It’ll be an evening of firsts for all three stars, as none of them have hosted before. Still, Ashley says that the exciting lineup of nominees takes some of the pressure off for her first-time hosting gig.
“I am beyond excited, and maybe a little nervous, to host an awards show for the very first time,” the singer gushes. “Luckily, it’s not all about me – it’s about celebrating…music videos and the brilliant men and women that help us create them.”
Ashley earned her first CMT Awards trophy in 2019, and she scored nominations in three more categories this time around: “Female Video of the Year,” “CMT Performance of the Year” and “Video of the Year,” all for her “One Night Standards.” She was eliminated from the “Video of the Year” running in the first round of voting.
In addition to her hosting duties and role as nominee, Ashley will also perform during the show.
The awards show has had to remain flexible as it plans an unusual, socially-distanced and, per the Tennesseean, outdoors show due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CMT Awards first said that four co-hosts would be helming the event; now, that number has been adjusted to three.
However, an exciting new lineup of presenters has been revealed. Brandi Carlile, Taylor Swift, Tanya Tucker and Kelly Clarkson will all present awards, as will pop stars Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and Rob Thomas, actors Idina Menzel and Jessica Chastain and producer and DJ Diplo.
The CMT Music Awards will air on Wednesday, October 21 at 8PM ET.
Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — In a few months, fans will finally be able to see Jennifer Lopez’s highly anticipated movie Marry Me, slated to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day.
As the premiere date creeps closer, the uncertainty over whether the studio will honor the release day due to COVID-19 concerns grows.
In a Billboard interview on Wednesday alongside co-star Maluma, who plays her cheating ex-boyfriend in the film, Lopez opened up about quarantine and the fears she had about it.
While the “On the Floor” singer admittedly enjoyed spending all the extra downtime with her family, she also worried how the pause would affect her career.
“One of the fears of artists who perform is, ‘If I stop, it’s going to go away,'” Lopez, 51, noted.
Thankfully, she was able to snap herself out of the irrational fear because “You have to take time for things that matter: your kids, your family.”
“You need to have a little bit more faith in yourself and know that when you’re ready to put out the next album, even if it takes two years, it’s OK,” Lopez encouraged, adding that working constantly with no breaks eventually will make “you forget how to live.”
Also while in quarantine, the Hustlers star was able to map out some plans about her future. One such plan she’s been flirting with is going on a tour with her Marry Me co-star.
As Maluma attests, “I think the J.Lo-Maluma movement is just starting. After Marry Me, I think things are going to change a lot.”
He says that because the two are “making history right now” by being two Latinx artists making up two thirds of the film’s main cast and will also be singing in Spanish in the movie.

(NEW YORK) — After almost two years since Alex Smith suffered a severe leg injury with life-threatening complications, the quarterback made his triumphant return to the NFL gridiron on Sunday, which all but solidified his story as comeback player of the year.
Smith spoke to ABC News’ Good Morning America about the difficult journey he’s been on since being sidelined for 693 days after his personal perseverance, family commitment and human triumph were on full display when he took the field for the game between the Washington Football Team and the Los Angeles Rams.
On Nov. 18, 2018 Smith was sacked for the 410th time in his NFL career against the Houston Texans, but something was different.
“It seemed like just it’s just another one,” he recalled. “I certainly felt something strange down in my lower leg at that point. I will say to look down to see what had happened in and I knew right away that I had broken my leg.”
Smith broke the tibia and fibula in his right leg, sustaining both spiral and compound fractures that required 17 surgeries to repair, and later an infection that doctors feared could have led to amputation.
“I had absolutely zero idea that this may have obliterated my career,” Smith said.
“I was getting ready to go home and that the last thing I really remember, there was obviously my temperature spiking before I went home,” he remembered. “You know, looking down my leg once it was unwrapped and realizing actually that something was wrong.”
A bacterial infection had been eating away at Smith’s leg and his entire body went into septic shock, prompting concerns for his life from his doctors.
After that, Smith — the No. 1 draft pick in 2005 — said, psychologically, the sport and his professional career were the furthest things from his mind.
“I had a lot of time to myself … to sit and wonder if I’d ever be able to do those things that I, that I took for granted for so long. If I’d ever be able to go … going to walk with my wife, going to hike, play with my kids, you know, just everyday things,” he said candidly. “Football was never, at that point, in the picture. For me, that was the last of my concerns.”
Despite his past recovery from career setbacks such as multiple benchings, injuries and trades, nothing compared to the dark place he was in this time.
“I think that without a doubt in my life that certainly the hardest thing I’ve ever been faced with — it was going to be a long, long, long process to come back,” Smith explained.
His road to recovery started in San Antonio, Texas, at the Center for the Intrepid, a military hospital that specializes in limb recovery.
“I don’t know if I’d be here with it without their involvement in this process, not only from the expertise in the science and care but also from the motivation for me to go down there,” he said. “And that was really the first time that I ever thought about attempting to try and play football again.”
After multiple surgeries and a year of rehab, Smith got cleared to play again and his family surrounded him with champagne to celebrate the exciting news.
“There were so many ups and downs and complications along the way with it,” he said. “So to finally get the green light from all the doctors in agreement that my leg was it was good to go — it was very cool.”
Smith pushed through self-doubt and the rigors of NFL training camp to earn a spot on the team as a backup, which was a triumph in and of itself. Then after 693 days away from the action, his number was called during Week 5 in to replace Kyle Allen in the second quarter against the Rams.
As Smith ran onto the field, he said there was “a small moment there were I like, you know, here it goes. This is it. You know, I felt like I was ready.”
“I was so thankful we hadn’t had any fans in our first couple of home games and we had just progressed to just family,” Smith said of the new precautions due to the pandemic with his wife and kids in the stands. “So I knew going, you know, obviously that they were gonna be there. And for me, that’s all that mattered.”
Alex and his wife designed a T-shirt collection with Attitude is Free, a brand they felt paralleled his drive to stay positive through difficult obstacles.
The shirt has his motto “Just Live” printed on the front — a phrase that Smith has lived by and hopes it will motivate others to live in every moment. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to the Center For the Intrepid (CFI), the facility that he worked with and credits for his comeback.
Greg Doherty/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Looks like we won’t be seeing a green tinted Tatiana Maslany after all. The Orphan Black actress responded to reports that she was cast in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series and chalked it up to a rumor that’s grown out of control.
Speaking to the Sudbury Star on Thursday, Maslany was asked if she was excited to star in her own Disney+ series and delivered the devastating blow that the reports were false.
“That actually isn’t a real thing and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand,” the Emmy Award-winning actress declared. “It’s not actually a thing, unfortunately.”
Added the Perry Mason star, “I’ve been connected to these things in the past,” but it’s definitely not in her future at the moment.
Maslany lamented that so many people were convinced that the news was real, such as the BBC, but as for how the tall tale fooled practically everyone is anyone’s guess, she admits.
What probably helped further the rumors along was when actor Mark Ruffalo retweeted the report from Deadline shortly after it was published and seemingly confirmed it by remarking, “Welcome to the family, cuz!”
She-Hulk, aka Jennifer Walters, is the cousin of Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk. Walters inherited some of her cousin’s abilities after receiving a life-saving blood transfusion from him following a serious accident.
Marvel has not responded to request for comment at this time.
