"Hunky" at 90? Check out William Shatner in 'Senior Moment', out today

No Comments Entertainment News

Screen Media Films(NEW YORK) — Having just celebrated his 90th birthday this week, William Shatner is also welcoming his latest film into theaters and on demand.

Senior Moment is a romantic comedy that has the former starship Enterprise captain playing a retired NASA pilot and ladies man, whose beloved classic Porsche — and need for speed — gets him in trouble. His character can’t resist drag racing against a guy who is young enough to be his grandson, and that causes a life-altering change for Shatner’s character, he tells ABC Audio.

“[He’s] gotten older and they take his license away because he has an accident, and the whole movie’s about ‘They’ve taken my life, my youth away with my license. What am I going to do?’ And the movie is about what is he going to do?”

He’s forced to take the bus, in fact, but that leads to love when he falls for a fellow senior rider, a free spirit named Caroline, played by Jean Smart.

Shatner says he’s tickled by being a leading man in a romantic comedy at 90, but he notices how he’s being described differently since his Captain Kirk and T.J. Hooker days.

“Well, it’s true. In a previous interview, they said, ‘Oh, he’s quite cute’ some of the people [said], ‘quite cute’,” Shatner shares. “And then they reexamined. Ah, ‘He’s quite hunky.’ …What do you mean ‘quite cute’? Well, ‘quite hunky’.”

“So I said, ‘Now we’ve got to work on the word ‘quite’,” Shatner says with a laugh.

Senior Moment also stars Back to the Future series veteran Christopher Lloyd.

The Valory Music Co.As excitement brews for Thomas Rhett’s next album, Country Again: Side A, the singer is planning a special, one-night-only event to celebrate release day.

On April 30, TR will host a livestream event called Thomas Rhett One Night Only from Nashville, inviting fans from around the world to hear him play the new songs live with a full band behind him.

“It’s been a year and a half since I last played a live show,” Thomas explains. “It’s been good to keep sharing music in all the ways we’ve made work (mostly in front of my plaid curtains), but we really wanted to take it up a few notches until we can safely get back out there on the road. It’ll be where we play some new stuff for the first time and have a chance to share what the songs mean to me!”

You can now pick up tickets to the show, and also purchase VIP packages for a post-show Q&A with Thomas.

The lead single from Country Again:Side A is “What’s Your Country Song?,” which just went number one at country radio earlier this week. That song marks Thomas’ 11th consecutive chart-topping hit, and extends his reign as the country singer with the longest-running streak of number-one songs.

“Am I Right or Amarillo”: Miranda Lambert + the gang return with another stripped-down Texas selection

No Comments Country Music News

Spencer PeeplesMiranda Lambert, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall are back with “Am I Right or Amarillo,” the newest track to be released off their forthcoming acoustic project, The Marfa Tapes.

In addition to the other 12 songs on the album’s track list, “Am I Right or Amarillo” was recorded in the three singer-songwriters’ home state of Texas, in the middle-of-nowhere town of Marfa.

“‘Am I Right or Amarillo’ was a Jack Ingram line,” remembers Jon of the song. “I think we were talking about the most time we’ve ever spent in Amarillo was at the truck stop. We just started riffing on the title and a cheating song showed itself. We all miss country cheating songs so we just went with it. It is really more of a bluegrass kind of thing.”

The trio also shared a simple music video to along with their new song, featuring a montage of grainy, black-and-white video footage shout out the window of a moving car.

The Marfa Tapes will be out in full on May 7. It includes a new version of Miranda’s 2018 ACM Song of the Year, “Tin Man,” which was written in Marfa alongside Jack and Jon.

John Wolfsohn/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Bindi Irwin and her husband, Chandler Powell, welcomed their baby girl into the world on Thursday, and in an Instagram announcement Friday, they revealed their bundle of joy’s name is a tribute to her late dad Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin.

The baby’s name is Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, they revealed. “Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light … Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior,” the conservationist and former Dancing with the Stars winner declared.

In a recent interview with The Bump, Bindi revealed that her soon-to-be bundle of joy had been dubbed “Wildlife Warrior,” in honor of her dad, but they were “waiting to meet her” before they decided on a name.

“My dad was the first person to create the term ‘Wildlife Warrior,'” explained Bindi at the time. “Being a Wildlife Warrior means to stand up and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. We’ve been referring to our daughter as our Baby Wildlife Warrior.”

Bindi and Chandler got married exactly a year before they welcomed their baby into the world, so Happy Anniversary wishes as well as congratulations are in order for the pair.
