Miranda Lambert’s stylist also glammed up her four-legged co-star for the “Settling Down” video

No Comments Country Music News

Blythe ThomasMiranda Lambert’s love of animals is well-documented and long-standing, so it should come as no surprise that while she was getting glammed up for her “Settling Down” video, her equine co-star got the same treatment.

In a new collection of behind the scenes photos from the video shoot in People, Miranda shows the process of staging one of the video’s most memorable scenes, in which she’s galloping through an open field on the back of her horse, Gibson.

Turns out, Gibson got as much of the star treatment as Miranda did before the cameras started rolling. The singer shared a snap of her hair stylist, Johnny Lavoy, braiding Gibson’s mane to get the horse ready for his close-up.

“The other loves of my life are my horses, which was an element I wanted to fully capture in this video,” Miranda explained.

As for her human co-star? That would be the singer’s husband, Brendan McLoughlin, who makes his music video debut in the home-inspired “Settling Down” clip.

Miranda goes on to say how fitting it is that this was the video where Brendan made his debut, and not just because “Settling Down” is a love song.

“[It] was his favorite song on the Wildcard record, so it was great we were able to shoot this video together and give fans a glimpse into our life on the farm,” the singer says.

(NEW YORK) — The head of international soccer, Gianni Infantino, has tested positive for coronavirus, FIFA announced in a statement Tuesday.

The organization said Infantino has mild symptoms and has immediately placed himself in self-isolation. The 50-year-old FIFA president will remain isolated for at least 10 days.

Anyone who has come into contact with Infantino in the last several days has been informed of his positive test results.

Infantino recently visited Qatar, site of the 2022 World Cup, where he said he could not imagine a tournament without fans. He said there was sufficient time to contain the pandemic by the winter of 2022.

This year the coronavirus pandemic has stopped some soccer competitions for the first time since World War II.

No Comments Entertainment News

© 2020 The CW Network, LLC. All Rights Reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — The CW has released the first photos of Javicia Leslie as Batwoman.

The two stills show Leslie clad a sleek, black leather costume with red trim and cape, with the bat logo also in red in the center of her breast, matching the red streaks in her hair.

Leslie is the first Black woman to play a live-action Batwoman in film or TV.  She inherits the role of Ryan Wilder/Batwoman after Ruby Rose stepped down from her role of Kate Kane/Batwoman earlier this year after one season.

“I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman — it’s her style, her swag, and her moment. I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!” Leslie says in a statement, according to Variety

Leslie will star alongside returning cast members Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, Camrus Johnson and Dougray Scott.

Season two of Batwoman is scheduled to premiere in January on the CW.

“Some Girls” takes Jameson Rodgers to the top, after a record-setting run up the charts

No Comments Country Music News

Matthew BerinatoNot everyone gets to the number-one spot on a country chart, but “Some Girls,” by rising star Jameson Rodgers, rang that bell this week.

“When I moved to Nashville in 2010, I had a dream,” he offers. “I’m living my dream right now thanks to country radio, amazing fans and the best team any artist could ask for.”

It’s a record-breaking victory in a couple of ways for the singer. While the country charts have seen a handful of new faces this year, with Gabby Barrett and Ingrid Andress both hitting the top spot with their debut singles, Jameson is the first solo male artist to reach that summit with his first radio entry.

“Some Girls” also had a 49-week climb to the top of the chart, setting a new record for longest climb up the Billboard Country Airplay chart for a debut single.  But Jameson’s in good company with that distinction: Jimmie Allen’s second chart entry, “Make Me Want To,” took 58 weeks to finally top Country Airplay back in March — a record at the time for the chart’s entire 30-year history.

However, Travis Denning swiftly outdid Jimmie’s record-setting climb in June when his second single, “After a Few,” crawled to the top over a whopping 65 weeks.

As it tops Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, “Some Girls” also ascends to number-one on Mediabase/Country Aircheck. The single also recently received RIAA Gold certification.

Bette Midler confirms the main cast of 'Hocus Pocus' is returning for a sequel

No Comments Entertainment News

BUENA VISTA PICTURES/ANDREW COOPER(NEW YORK) — The Sanderson sisters are back, witches!  Bette Midler confirmed Monday that the beloved Halloween staple Hocus Pocus is getting a sequel.  Even better?  The original cast is all in.

“They want to make a movie.  They’ve asked us if we were interested, and, of course, all of us said ‘Yeah,'” Midler, who played the wicked Winifred Sanderson, told WNYW

It appears the 74-year-old actress has been waiting very patiently for that particular phone call, gushing, “I’m game. I’m totally game.”

Although she’s extremely excited to adorn the big red wig and buck teeth, Midler disclosed that she is having a hard time accepting that the movie came out in 1993.

“It was so bizarre to have been these characters 27 years ago,” the Academy Award nominee mentioned.

Still, it seems no time has gone by for her and her co stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, who recently reunited to perform the virtual charity event, In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Hulaween Takeover.

Midler says the three of them immediately jumped right back into the Sanderson sister mindset as soon as they went through hair and makeup for the big show — which she assures is a full on production and “is not like your regular Zoom-grid show.”

“It was so bizarre, because we fell into exactly the same relationship we had and the same style of behaving on-screen that we had 27 years ago,” she laughed. “As if we had been off for a weekend!”

So far, it is unknown when Hocus Pocus 2 will hit theaters or start production.
