Miranda Lambert plants tree in honor of late dog Waylon

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAMiranda Lambert is honoring the memory of her late dog with a special gift.

The ACM Award-winner shared via Instagram stories on Monday that she was gifted a tree by friend and stylist Tiffany Gifford, which she planted in the backyard of her Tennessee farm to commemorate her golden retriever, Waylon, who passed away last month.

Miranda also shared a photo of a custom silver marker she had made that reads, “Your paws left prints on our hearts Waylon.”

Miranda revealed in an Instagram post on October 22 that she “lost one of my best friends” after 12 years together.

The singer and her mom Bev Lambert found Waylon and his sister, Jessi, which Miranda also adopted, on the side of the road in Oklahoma in 2008 and upon bringing the dogs to the vet, Miranda was told Waylon may not survive.

“He was a rock in our family and always held down the fort. He lived his life with no fences. The way we all want to live,” the singer says. “We are heartbroken but happy that he is running across the rainbow bridge right now and will be waiting for us when we get there. Dogs change your life. The bond is something that can’t be described unless you have lived it.”

Brett Young's silver lining during the pandemic is his one-year-old daughter

No Comments Country Music News

Riker BrothersWhile the COVID-19 has presented its challenges, Brett Young has found a silver lining in being home with his daughter for the first year of her life.

The singer, who recently celebrated daughter Presley Elizabeth‘s first birthday with wife Taylor and a small group of family members, is looking at the positive side of not being able to tour this year, because the time off the road has allowed him to focus on all the little milestones in his daughter’s life.

“I have gotten to see and hear a lot of firsts with my daughter because during the summer fair and festival season when I would have been gone four days a week, I was home. I heard her say ‘da-da’ for the first time.  I was there for that,” Brett recalls. “But there’s been a lot of things that I haven’t had to miss out on that I definitely would have missed out on if we were at normal capacity.”

The “In Case You Didn’t Know” hitmaker also encourages fans to find the bright side of life during the pandemic.  “You’ve gotta kinda fight to look for the silver lining, but there’s a handful of them if you’re willing to look for them,” Brett offers.

Brett’s current single, “Lady,” inspired by his wife and daughter, is inching its way toward the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

(MADISON, Wis.) — The Wisconsin and Purdue football teams won’t play this weekend. Wisconsin athletics director Barry Alvarez announced Tuesday that the Badgers’ home game was canceled due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the program. The game won’t be rescheduled.

The University of Wisconsin has also paused all team activities indefinitely.

“I share in the disappointment of our student-athletes and staff,” Alvarez said. “We have seen a level of improvement in our testing numbers, but not enough to give us confidence to resume normal activities and play our game on Saturday.”

This weekend’s canceled game is Wisconsin’s second after canceling its scheduled game at Nebraska on Oct. 31.

The team reported five new COVID-19 cases since Saturday, Oct. 31. Those cases are included in 21 total cases reported in the last seven days. The team says there are currently 27 active cases — including student-athletes and staff — in the program since Saturday, Oct. 24.

Alvarez says UW will continue to test regularly and take necessary precautions to bring the team back to the field “as soon as possible.”

Wisconsin Athletics will provide another team update Saturday, Nov. 7.

Noam Galai/Getty Images for HISTORY(TEXAS) — Matthew McConaughey is one proud papa.

After his 12-year-old son Levi made a rare appearance on his mother, Camila Alves McConaughey’s, personal Instagram, fans couldn’t help but notice how similar the two looked.

And, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, the 50-year-old actor could help but gush about his eldest child.

“Levi is the most considerate person I’ve ever met,” McConaughey shared. “He’s extremely considerate and a very, very sensitive young man and really cares — really caring kid. And he, like me, has a very much perfectionist bone in him.”

“He’s a great salesman, he’s a great debater, he’s a great storyteller, he’s becoming a really good storyteller,” he  said. “He’s becoming a good buddy of mine now as he’s reaching 12.”

The Dallas Buyers Club actor and Alves also have 10-year-old daughter Vida and 7-year-old son Livingston and when it comes to them following in their father’s footsteps, McConaughey has no reservations.

“Look, I want them to do whatever it is they’re fashioned to do,” he stated. “Whatever they have an innate ability to do, and are willing to put in the work to get better at it. Whatever that is, I want them to do that. If that becomes something in the industry that I’m in? Bravo.”

“I have already started to employ them,” he added. “They do all my photo shoots now. They did the Longbranch ads. Levi did. He’s the DP, he’s the one going out there, we’re setting up the GoPros. We’re doing the editing. So, maybe I’ll have a little McConaughey production crew here, and we’ll be a one-stop shop.”
