Carrie Ann Inaba says she's being "bullied" for how she judges 'Dancing with the Stars' contestants

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — With Dancing with the Stars entering the final episodes of the season, judge Carrie Ann Inaba says this is typically the time she starts giving tough love to the competitors, which can be harsh.

However, a new problem has arisen.  Some fans of the show claim that Inaba, who has been with the show since its 2005 premiere, is treating several contestants unfairly — namely The Bachelorette star Kailtyn Bristowe.

On Monday night’s episode, Inaba deducted points from Bristowe and dancing partner Artem Chigvintsev for performing a lift during their jive, which goes against show rules.

That, in turn, sparked rumors that the 52-year-old, who once dated Chigvintsev, is taking her jealousy out on Bristowe.

Inaba spoke out about the rumors while filming an episode of The Talk on Tuesday, calling it a form of bullying.

“Right about this time is when people start to bully me because of the way I judge people,” she lamented. “I can’t believe it still happens as adults.”

Inaba, co-hosts the talk show, added that the bullying won’t “make me change the way I judge.”  In fact, it only steels her resolve to speak honestly to the contestants.

“I’m not about to change because you try to bully me. It only makes me stand stronger in my convictions and what I believe in,” Inaba quipped. “I judge the way I judge from my background.  That is my job to do it and I will always do it based on my own conscience, not because you’re trying to tell me what to do.”

Besides serving as a judge on DWTS for the past 15 years, Inaba served as a backup dancer on In Living Color, as a featured dancer during Madonna’s Girlie Show World Tour and performed at Prince’s Glam Slam.

Is Adele being "wooed" by Hollywood after 'Saturday Night Live' hosting gig?

No Comments Entertainment News

Will Heath/NBC(NEW YORK) — There have been rumors of Adele trying her hand at acting since her cinematic “Hello” video back in 2015, but now that she’s shown off her comic chops hosting Saturday Night Live, one British magazine is claiming that all of Hollywood is clamoring to sign her to a movie deal.

An “insider” tells Heat magazine, “Adele is being wooed by Hollywood movie bosses to star on the big screen as a bona fide actress.”

The insider further claims that “Adele checks all the boxes in terms of what producers and casting agents are looking for right now,” explaining, “She has a huge fan base, tons of charisma, an infectiously positive energy and a fantastically witty and self-deprecating sense of humor that’s appealing to fans of all ages.”

Adele definitely poked fun at herself during Saturday Night Live, and wasn’t afraid to look silly in sketches, either.

The so-called insider says Adele could bank $5 million for a cameo role to start with, and notes, “Nobody doubts she has the talent and screen presence to be a standout star in her own right.”

“Adele is loving this attention and she absolutely wants to move forward with a role,” dishes the insider, saying the Grammy-winning star is planning to meet with an acting coach and is musing whether to start on TV or go right to movies.

“She intends to take full advantage of her celebrity status while it’s at its peak – and acting has always been a huge dream of hers since the start of her career,” concludes the insider.

US officially withdraws from Paris Agreement that aims to combat climate change

(NEW YORK) — The U.S. officially has left the Paris Agreement, three years after President Donald Trump announced he would leave the international climate change forum.

The accord is a collective agreement among nearly 200 countries that aims to prevent the earth’s temperatures from rising 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial revolution temperatures, the value that climate scientists have determined will have disastrous consequences if exceeded.

The rise could result in rising sea levels and more extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, drought and wildfires. This, in turn, could lead to mass migration and shortages in food production, according to the experts.

In 2017, Trump announced his intention to withdraw from the agreement, claiming it could be economically detrimental and cost 2.5 million Americans their jobs by 2025.

Trump described the pledge that the U.S. entered, which was to reduce greenhouse gases 26% to 28% by 2025, as a “massive redistribution of United States wealth” that would “undermine our economy, hamstring our workers, weaken our sovereignty [and] impose unacceptable legal risk.”

Experts have said that as the second-highest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, the U.S. participating in the accord is crucial to inspiring other countries to take responsibility for their roles in global warming.

Whether the U.S. rejoins the agreement could depend on the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who has proposed a $5 trillion plan to combat climate change, has vowed to reenter the U.S. into the agreement should he be elected president, a move that could take less than six months, Varun Sivaram, a senior research scholar at Columbia University’s SIPA Center on Global Energy Policy, told ABC News.

Trump, who has walked back dozens of environmental protections since he took office in 2017, has said that he would be open to rejoining the accord after renegotiating a “deal that’s fair.”
