Tayshia Adams reveals she was hesitant to become 'The Bachelorette'

No Comments Entertainment News

ABC/Kwaku Alston(LOS ANGELES) — It’s a fresh start for The Bachelorette as Tayshia Adams takes over tonight.

The restart comes after this season’s original Bachelorette, Clare Crawley, dramatically found love and became engaged to contestant Dale Moss within the first three episodes of the show.

Now, it’s Tayshia’s turn, however, she tells ABC Audio that she didn’t immediately jump at the opportunity to become the new lead.

“I was a little hesitant just because, like, ‘OK, why now? Is this really going to happen?'” she explains. “I’m not going to put myself in this position again in case it doesn’t work out.”

“Also, it kind of made me nervous that, you know, the guys were already dating Clare and will they be accepting of me?” she adds. “And there are some things that I was worried about, but I definitely got clarity on.”

Tayshia, 30, first appeared on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor and later on Bachelor In Paradise.

This time around, though, she holds the reigns as The Bachelorette and shares that fans can expect to see love, laughter, and, of course, drama as they watch her journey.

“I mean, it’s The Bachelorette. Of course, there’s drama,” she admits. “You’ll see that there are a lot of men that are not only attractive, but there’s a lot of depth to them and they really give it their all. There is some drama between them, but what’s the show without it?”

“But there’s some amazing relationships that form,” she continues. “And you might cry, you get a good laugh, you’re going to have all the feels.”

The Bachelorette airs Tuesdays at 8PM ET on ABC.

Eta floods Florida after making landfall as strong tropical storm

(MIAMI) — Tropical Storm Eta has caused major flooding in Florida after making landfall late Sunday night.

The system hit as a strong tropical storm in the Florida Keys around 11 p.m. with wind speeds of 65 mph and slowly moved through the region, drenching South Florida and causing flash flooding in large cities such as Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Nearly a foot and a half of rain fell in eastern portions of Broward County, north of Miami. More than 14 inches of rain fell near Hollywood, and parts of the Miami metro area received more than 6 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Eta has broken a record as the 12th named storm to make landfall in the continental U.S. in a single season. The previous record was nine named storms in 1916.

In addition, the last time a named storm made landfall in Florida in the month of November was Tropical Storm Mitch in 1998.

Eta made landfall in Central America on Tuesday as a Category 4 hurricane. Nearly 60 people died after torrential rain flooded homes from Panama to Guatemala, even spurring a mudslide in Honduras that killed several people.

The system later weakened after passing over high-altitude mountains but then strengthened back into a tropical storm as it headed toward the U.S.

Eta is now moving away from Florida, but flood watches are continuing for the southern half of Florida from Fort Myers down to Miami, and an additional few inches of rain are possible over the next few days as the storm meanders in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

The system is expected to meet up with a cold front moving from the West and will bring heavy rain from North Florida to the Mid-Atlantic States.

Make some noise: 'A Quiet Place' spin-off is in the works

Krasinski directing ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ — Jonny Cournoyer/© 2019 Paramount Pictures. All rights reserved.(LOS ANGELES) — Due to COVID-19, the sequel to John Krasinski’s blockbuster horror thriller A Quiet Place has yet to be seen in theaters. However, a spin-off just got the green light.

The Hollywood Reporter explains that Krasinski came up with an idea for another story set in the world of A Quiet Place, where mysterious creatures hunt humans by sound alone.  He’ll produce the film, with director Jeff Nichols calling the shots.

Made for less than $20 million, director and co-writer Krasinski’s A Quiet Place went on to earn $340 million worldwide, and a Best Sound Editing Oscar to boot. The movie starred The Office veteran and his real-life wife Emily Blunt as parents trying to keep their family alive — and quiet — as they dodge the monsters.

A sequel was fast-tracked, but the COVID-19 pandemic’s theater closings led Paramount Pictures to move A Quiet Place Part II from its initial release date of March 20.  It was bumped to September 4, and eventually to April 23, 2021.
