'West Wing,' 'The Good Doctor' star Richard Schiff tests positive for COVID-19

No Comments Entertainment News

Earl Gibson III/Getty Images(VANCOUVER) — Richard Schiff, who stars as Dr. Aaron Glassman on the ABC series The Good Doctor, revealed on Tuesday that he and wife Sheila Kelley tested positive for COVID-19 on November 3.

Taking to Twitter to reveal his diagnosis, Schiff openly admitted that contracting the novel coronavirus came at a very strange time for the couple.

“On Election Day I tested positive for Covid-19. This has been the most bizarre week of our lives,” the Emmy Award winner confessed before focusing on their health battle.

“This is tough. We are determined to find a way to health again,” said Schiff. “We root for everyone out there who are struggling with this thing.”

The West Wing alum chose not to elaborate further and signed off by sending his love.

Shortly after, Kelley — who also stars on The Good Doctor took to her Instagram to speak candidly about the symptoms they’re experiencing.

“We‘re quarantined in our home in Vancouver, recovering. This virus is a slippery sucker,” the 59-year-old actress revealed. “One minute you feel almost fine and the next you can’t catch your breath. Symptoms change radically daily even hourly.”

Kelley went on to warn her healthy fans about the severity of the virus, noting, “For those of you who do not have this virus stay healthy keep practicing physical distancing.”

She also extended her support to those who are all too familiar with her battle, assuring, “Breathe deeply. Breathe slowly. Breathe fully. We will get through this together.”

According to Deadline, production for the ABC medical drama has not been stopped in light of Schiff’s or Kelley’s positive test results.  The publication says that the current plan is to continue filming while the two are in isolation.

It is also believed Schiff and Kelley were exposed off-set.

Kelsea Ballerini revealed as final CMAs performer, plus more details about Reba McEntire + Darius Rucker’s duet

No Comments Country Music News

CMA/ABCAhead of tonight’s show, the CMA has revealed that Kelsea Ballerini will take the stage at the 2020 CMA Awards to perform her new single, “hole in the bottle.” She’s the final new performer to be announced.

That song comes off of Kelsea’s self-titled third studio album, which first came out in March. A few months later, in September, Kelsea dropped an acoustic, introspective re-imagined version of the project, titled Ballerini.

But Kelsea’s addition to the program isn’t the only surprise the CMA had in store: They also revealed more details about co-hosts Darius Rucker and Reba McEntire’s performance on tonight’s show.

Darius and Reba will debut the world premiere performance of their version of “In the Ghetto,” a tribute to the late performer and songwriting legend Mac Davis, who died in September. The Lubbock, Texas native was a successful crossover artist who penned hits for Elvis Presley, including “A Little Less Conversation” and “Don’t Cry Daddy,” as well as “In the Ghetto.”

But the co-hosts’ rendition of the song isn’t limited to a big awards show moment. They’re also releasing the recorded version, which will be available tonight at midnight ET following their performance.

The 2020 CMAs will kick off on Wednesday night at 8PM ET. You can watch the show on ABC.

Carly Pearce, Lee Brice and Miranda Lambert are early winners at the 2020 CMA Awards

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/CMAThe 2020 CMA Awards ceremony may not be kicking off until tonight, but Carly Pearce, Lee Brice and Miranda Lambert are already winners at this year’s show.

Carly and Lee are taking home the trophy of CMA Musical Event of the Year for their hit duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” Carly released the song, which she co-wrote with Luke Combs, last fall as the lead single off her self-titled sophomore project, which came out in February.  Producer busbee is also the recipient of the award. Busbee unexpectedly died of brain cancer last September at just 43 years old. Carly has since revealed that her self-titled album was the last full project on which busbee worked before his death.

“I Hope You’re Happy Now” became a chart-topping hit at country radio, and Lee’s such a fan of it that he included it on the track list of his next album, Hey World. That project’s due out on November 20.

For her part, Miranda is celebrating a victory in the Music Video of the Year category. That win comes courtesy of her hit, “Bluebird.” The trophy also goes to the video’s director, Trey Fanjoy.

“Bluebird” comes off Miranda’s seventh studio album, Wildcard, which dropped last November. It was the second single from the project to head to country radio, and scored the singer her first number-one hit in six years.

Mads Mikkelsen could replace Johnny Depp in 'Fantastic Beasts' series

Ilya S. Savenok/Getty Images for Shackleton Whisky(LOS ANGELES) — Hannibal and Doctor Strange actor Mads Mikkelsen is in early talks to replace Johnny Depp as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3Variety has confirmed.

Depp had shot just one scene as Grindelwald before leaving the film,  so his departure isn’t expected to significantly alter the film’s production timeline. Stars Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law are already filming in the U.K. in the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-off book series.

Depp annnounced last week that he was asked by Warner Bros. to quit the film in the wake of the loss of his libel case against the U.K. Sun, which labeled him a “wife beater” during his rocky marriage to Amber Heard.

If Mikkelsen does sign on, his entry into the wizarding world of Harry Potter would be the third major movie franchise  in which he appeared, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Doctor Strange, and Star Wars with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

(BATON ROUGE, La.) — Three Baton Rouge police officers have been placed on administrative leave after a Louisiana State University football player alleged that they “violated” him at gunpoint.

LSU wide receiver Koy Moore wrote on Twitter that on Saturday night he was approached by the officers, who Moore said assumed he “had a gun and drugs.”

“I was violated numerous times even as going as far as trying to unzip my pants in search of a weapon that I repeatedly told them I did not have,” Moore wrote.

Moore said that as he tried to post a live video of the encounter to social media, they “snatched” his phone and insinuated that he may have been harmed had he not told the officers that he played football for the university.

“I could’ve lost my life and I know for a fact that nothing would’ve happened to the guys who did it,” he wrote.

After the Baton Rouge Police Department was made aware of the encounter, Police Chief Murphy Paul launched an internal investigation and the three officers involved were placed on administrative leave, according to a statement from the department.

“We appreciate Mr. Moore bringing this incident to our attention,” Paul said in a statement. “As in every case, we will be collecting all available evidence and conducting interviews. Accountability and transparency are critical in building trust with the community. I pledge a thorough investigation in this complaint.”

Moore concluded his post with a call to end racial discrimination, writing that “…as some celebrate the election of a new president understand the real problem [has] not changed.”

LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron met with Moore and his mother on Monday to discuss the incident, ESPN reported.

Orgeron wrote on Twitter that while he could not comment on the investigation, he believes “that we must work collectively to embrace our differences.”

“We have to listen, learn and come together to combat social injustice and racism if we are to create a safer and more equitable society for all people,” Orgeron wrote.

Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has also been made aware of the encounter, according to a statement from her office.

“We take these allegations seriously and will await the findings of the investigation,” Broome said. “We will get to the bottom of this situation and keep the lines of communication open with the community.”
